How does your media product represent particular social groups? My duo 'WAVES' are two 20 year old girls who make indie/rock music and perform at festivals. Their age fits into the age gap of my target audience and so in some way on trend and relatable. A lot of duo bands that are big today tend to be more male/female rather than two females however this just means there is a gap in the market for this difference. Bands like Wild Belle and the White Stripes are similar to my artists in their style. They both wear clothes that are simple so that attention is distributed equally between the information on the magazine and face. The colours are also similar in that they follow a monotone black/grey/white colour. Both duos are also similar to my own in that the facial expressions aren't to fake. They are pretty serious as if to put forward a no-nonsense, look and that they aren't about messing around. The Indie scenesters genre would listen to both those bands and my own due to the way WAVES the styling really fits with the magazine as a whole. I have used only Bryony on the front cover as she is the most recognisable and has the most supporters out of them both. Her hair is also something many girls in my market may strive towards as it is so unique. I have copied the idea of the image on the front cover from this image of Lorde. The backgrounds are similar so take no fuss aware from the artist. She isn’t wearing heaps of make-up as my targeted social group wouldn’t ‘doll’ themselves up a lot and so they can fell more related to the picture. The dark clothing instead of the light that Lorde wears is used as ‘rock’ music is often associated with deeper darker colours of which I felt that my magazine clearly represents the social group of young males and females due to the style. It follows similar conventions to the already very successful magazines NME and Clash. These magazines also follow the same genre to mine, indie/rock, which my desired social groups find interesting. The website ‘UK Tribes’ says ‘Indie Scenesters are dedicated to finding the newest music, exploring all avenues to get there – online, print, record shops, club nights and word of mouth. Staying ahead of the curve is a must, but it’s borne out of a genuine love for music’. From this information i believe that the Indie scenesters will relate to the images of the artists due to the link between clothing and style. They will feel more comfortable and willing to pick up my magazine if they could compare their own lifestyle to that on the magazine and so i have recreated what i believe would sell. How does your media product represent partic-ular social groups?

My duo 'WAVES' are two 20 year old girls who make in-die/rock music and perform at festivals. Their age fits into the age gap of my target audience and so in some way on trend and relatable. A lot of duo bands that are big today

tend to be more male/female rather than two females how-ever this just means there is a gap in the market for this difference. Bands like Wild Belle and the White Stripes are similar to my artists in their style. They both wear clothes that are simple so that attention is distributed equally between the information on the magazine and face. The colours are also similar in that they follow a mono-tone black/grey/white colour. Both duos are also similar to my own in that the facial expressions aren't to fake. They are pretty serious as if to put forward a no- nonsense, look and that they aren't about messing around. The Indie scenesters genre would listen to both those bands and my own due to the way WAVES the styling really fits with the maga-zine as a whole.

I have used only Bryony on the front cover as she is the most recog- nisable and has the most supporters

out of them both. Her hair is also something many girls in my market may strive towards as it is so unique. I have copied the idea of

the image on the front cover from this image of Lorde. The backgrounds are similar so take no fuss

aware from the artist. She isn’t wearing heaps of make-up as my targeted social group wouldn’t ‘doll’ themselves up a lot and so they can fell more related to the picture. I felt that my magazine clearly represents the social group of young males and females due to the style. It follows similar conventions to the already very successful magazines NME and Clash. These magazines also follow the same genre to mine, indie/rock, which my desired social groups find interesting. The web-site ‘UK Tribes’ says ‘Indie Scenesters are dedicated to finding the newest music, exploring all avenues to get there – online, print, record shops, club nights and word of mouth. Staying ahead of the curve is a must, but it’s borne out of a genuine love for music’. From this information i believe that the Indie scen-esters will relate to the images of the artists due to the link between clothing and style. They will feel more comfortable and willing to pick up my magazine if they could compare their own lifestyle to that on the magazine and so i have recreated what i believe would sell. My social group would also find my article interesting to read as festivals and other artists have been mentioned of which indie scenesters would be into. I would print this magazines to place on shelves and post it online as that is where my social group are most likely to look for and find my magazine.
