About Leo Club Of Kathmandu Chabahil:

LEO Leadership Experience Opportunity is a youth project of InternationalAssociation of Lions Clubs. With more than 46,000 Lions Clubs in 193 countries and

geographical areas and more than 5600 Leo Clubs serving their communities in 137 countries, this is one of the largest social organizations worldwide.

Back in 1957, Graver was the coach of the Abington High School, Pennsylvania, USA, baseball team. Graver was also an active member of the Glenside, Pennsylvania, Lions Club.

With fellow Lion, William Ernst, Graver talked about starting a service club for high schoolboys. So they asked their fellow Lions for support. Without hesitation, the Glenside Lions agreed

that a Lions youth group was a good idea.On December 5, 1957, the Glenside Lions presented a charter to the Abington High

School Leo Club that consisted of 35 teenagers. As the world's first Leo club, the group createdthe Leo acronym - Leadership, Equality, Opportunity (Equality was later changed to

Experience.) And, the group chose maroon and gold - their school colors - to serve as the Leoclub colors.

The Abington Leos were a singular entity until 1963. In that year, a Leo club was formedat the Tamaqua Area High School in Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter, a former Philadelphia

Lion formed a Leo club in New York. By 1964, there were 27 Leo clubs in Pennsylvania and onein New York. The circle of junior service clubs was expanding. In October 1967, the board of

directors of Lions Clubs International adopted the Leo Club Program as an official program ofthe association open to both males and females.

Today, more than 144,000 young people in 139 countries are proud to serve othersin their local communities and to call themselves Leos. These young community leaders are

friendly, active and dedicated to creating new and exciting opportunities by participating in theirlocal Leo clubs. Social and professional connections are an additional benefit for Omega

    members (age 18 and older).

Our club, Leo Club of Kathmandu Chabahil was established on the 17th

of May 2005 andwe have been serving not only our local community but throughout the nation for the past six

years. We have also managed to remain the best club since 2006. We are constantly organizingvarious heath camps, awareness programs, recreational programs, leadership and personality

development, etc focusing mostly on the youth, elderly, children and the under privileged. Our

club falls under The Leo District Council 325-A. The Leo District Council 325-A is under theMultiple District 325, Nepal of International Association of Lions Clubs. Currently there are twodistricts 325-A and 325-B under Multiple District 325.

The objective of LEO is "To provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development

and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national, andinternational community." And so we do.
