It manufactures packaged drinking water in India as well as in foreign country like Latin America, Indonesia, Argentina, Bangladesh, Egypt, Peru, Sudan and Sri Lanka. This project report has been prepared on the organizational study which is focused in Bijapur, Karnataka. AquaSure private limited is competing with so many other brands include Manickchand group's Oxyrich, Tata Group's Himalayan, UB Group's Kingfisher, PepsiCo's Aquafina and Coca-Cola's Kinley. It was a great experience working in AquaSure industries private Ltd. It was totally a great experience working in the organisation for period of four weeks. I spent most of my time in visiting different functional departments and interacting with the concerned departments employees.

1.1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION

Mineral Water/Packaged drinking water is artificial cleaned and contain no germs in water. Hence people are more focused towards the mineral water. India with a huge population of approximately 120 crores is potentially one of the largest consumer markets in the world after China.

Water is the most important necessity for life. The drinking-water needs for individuals vary depending on the climate, physical activity and the bodyculture. But for average consumers it is estimated to be about two to four litres per day. The growing number of cases of water borne diseases, increasing water pollution, increasing urbanization, increasing scarcity of pure and safe water etc. has made the bottled water business just like other consumer items. Scarcity of potable and wholesome water at railway stations, tourists spots, and role of tourism corp. etc. has also added to the growth.

Almost all the major international and national brands water bottles are available in Indian marketright from the malls to railway stations, bus stations, grocery stores and even at panwala's shop. Before few years bottle water was considered as the rich people's choice, but now it is penetrated even in rural areas. The growth and status of Indian Bottled Industry in comparisonwithWestern or Asian market, India is far behind in terms ofquantum, infrastructure, professionalism and standards implementation. The per capita consumption of mineral water in India is a mere 0.5-liter compared to 111 litres in Europe and 45-liter in USA. Also As per UN study conducted in 122 countries, in connection with water quality, India's number was dismal 120. In comparison to global standards, India's bottled water segment is largely unregulated.Finding the origin of Mineral water the first noticed about BISLERI, which was the first brand name in mineral water market in India.

This extraordinary success of mineral water can be attributing to the following factors. Absence of contemporary competitive brand. Cause for water pollution in India. Potentiality of the Indian market.1.2 Objective of the study:

To determine the importance of the packaged drinking water in the Bijapur. To know the work flow of the process. To study about the structure and functioning of various departments. To understand how the management controls various departments for the attainment of the organizational objectives. To study the Organizational Structure in detail.

1.3 INDUSTRIAL BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:

A few years back, the mineral water market had been crawling at the rate of 3-4%, or even a lower figure. Indians carried drinking water in earthen pitchers, plastic or PUF bottles. But increasing cases of typhoid and other waterborne diseases began to be reported. In addition to this, liberalization happened and the mineral water industry began to be stirred and shaken. The market started growing an astounding rate of over 100% per annum. The fact that there were very few players in the market meant that their business grew by leaps and bounds.

The market today has grown to Rs11bn. The organized sector -- branded mineral water -- has only Rs5bn of market share. The rest is accounted for by the unorganized sector, which is dominated by small regional players. The market is still growing at a rate greater than 80% per annum.

In the branded segment, Parles Bisleri is the market leader with a share of more than 45%. Parle Agros Bailley comes a close second with market share of 15%. Other major players in the market are Yes of Kotharis, Ganga of T-Series, Himalayan, Hello, Nestls Pure Life, Pepsis Aquafina, Coca-Colas -Kinley Prime, AquaSure packaged drinking water from Aquaguard and Florida etc.Sensing the opportunity that this segment holds, MNCs began to draw up plans to enter the market. Today the market is proving to be yet another battlefield for an ongoing battle between the Desis and MNCs. Last year the industry had around 170 brands. This figure is over 300 presently. The major foreign players are Coca-Cola promoted Kinley, Pepsis Aquafina, Britannias Evian, Nestls Perrier, Aquaguard promoted AquaSure, Herbert sons and Danone International.

1.3 (a) Origin of the Industry:

The origin of the industry is in the early 1800s. Amongst the early sellers of bottled water or packaged drinking water are names that are skill known today: Evian, San Pellegrino, Perrier and Vittel, among others.

Regulation of the bottled water or packaged drinking water industry began in the mid-nineteenth century in Europe. In order to sell mineral water, a company had to prove that the mineral content of water was stable over two years. In the early 1990s clean water was not widely available everywhere and the bottled water industry thrived, both in the US and in Europe. Regulation of bottled water in the United States had begun in 1938, when bottled water was defined a packaged food under the FFDCA.

When clean, safe and cheap drinking water was becoming widely available, the demand for bottled water decreased and the industry declined sharply. The bottled water industry struggled to survive until the 1970s, when the trend changed. Sales have been growing dramatically since then.

During the early 1990s controversies concerning bottled water quality began to emerge. Few occasions of water contamination (in particular: Perrier water contamination with high levels of Benzene and Natural Springs contamination with high levels of coli form bacteria)raised the quality of bottled water onto the agenda and resulted in improved regulation.

Other controversies regarding bottled water have gained momentum lately. These include concerns over the energy and materials that are used for making bottles and shipping water around the globe and the implications for climate change; concerns regarding the amount of bottles which are not recycled and the harmful toxins that are released to the environment in the very long decomposing process in landfills; concerns about the privatization of a traditionally public good, as bottled water companies make huge profits by withdrawing water from public water sources and reselling it; and concerns regarding the impact of the industry on communities in areas in which spring water is over pumped and could run out, hence harming those who rely on this water for their livelihood.

(b) Growth and Development of the Industry:

The industry enjoys 50% of the market share.

Since its inception, it has grown too many folds, which is the result of the hard working and dedicated employees and associates of the industry.

The function of water purification machine: BOREWELL:

It pulls water from the ground to the tank

STORAGE TANK:

It stores the raw water which comes from the ground through bore.

Adding chlorine:

Raw water contains living micro-organisms and which are objectionable to R.O Membrane as it may cause fouling to determine the performance. Even water may contain ferrous which can be oxidized to ferric oxide which is settle down in storage tank. We have offered a Hypo chlorite dosing unit for this purpose. About 3-4 ppm of sodium hypo chlorite solution is dosed in water storage tank. This reacts with water to form a hypochlorite acid which acts as disinfecting agent.

For 12 hours for purifying the water and lifting the water.

RAW WATER PUMP:

Provide the pressure to silica sand filter/active carbon filter.

SAND FILTER & CARBON FILTER:

PERMEATE STORAGE:

Permeate storage is a tank used to storage the clean water.

U.V RAYS:

U.V (Ultra Violet) rays are used for purifying the water. In this there is a beam of blue light, water passes through this beam which kills the bacteria in the water.

OZONISED:

Though R.O unit rejects all the micro-organisms like bacterial & virus and even after passing through U.V rays it may redevelop in packed bottle over a period of time. Hence, it is necessary to disinfect R.O. product water prior to bottling filling. This is very much essential to ensure good packaged drinking water Quality as per the standards. This Ozone Generator will give your water Oxygen Rich water and remove the Bacteriological growth and also provide you the Shelf Life of your packaged drinking water unless it opens for some period of time. Also this Ozonation of water can add some taste in to your treated water.
