Final ProjectJohn Wall
City Photography● I plan to stick with capturing pictures throughout the city of Albany and maybe
New York City.
● However, I will be slightly changing how I capture images compared to my
mimic project
The mood I’m looking to captureI’m looking to continue with black & white images. The surroundings are dark with
a high contrast. Similar to my mimic project, they are capturing the current
physical state of the city, from a different view point.
How will I be photographing my subjects?I will not be capturing any models but there can be more of a presence of people in these photos. I will be taking pictures from many different viewpoints. Some could be taken right underneath/ above or capturing what’s down the street. I’m going to rely on natural light to give my photos a nice contrast feel to them. I’m going to look for certain buildings or random objects with dark colors, to get a similar feel, with the contrast from the light illuminating its surroundings.
Why am I taking these photos?Starting my mimic project, I was very uncertain photography in general was unfit for me. In the end, I fell in love with it. I really enjoyed getting out there and taking these photos throughout the city. The mimic project helped show me what I like, and that’s why I’m continuing with images from the city. Changing some things of course, I’m excited to take images of what I like and want to show to the class. I’m taking these pictures in order to demonstrate that there is more to the city than what people actually see, and by taking pictures from different viewpoints it will help show others.
