Lesson Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
(i) Individually, write sentences based on the questions on the worksheet.
(ii) Individually, write a short essay on their trip to the Amazon Jungle using the provided word clues.

Set Induction
(5 minutes)
1. Teacher shows a picture to the
pupils.
2. The picture is a picture of the
Amazon jungle with some animals in
it.
3. Teacher asks pupils to describe
the picture.
4. Pupils try to describe the picture.
5. Teacher asks pupils to list out the
animals that they see in the picture.
6. Pupils list out the animals they
see orally.
5. Teacher asks pupils to predict the
lesson of the day.
6. Pupils predict and teacher links
the activity to the topic of the day.
Pre- writing
(10 minutes)
Brainstorming Ideas
1. Teacher asks pupils on what do
they know about the jungles.
2. Pupils answer the questions by
telling what they know.
3. Teacher shows a set of pictures of
a trip to the Amazon jungle with
some description on the side.
4. Pupils ask questions if they do not
understand.
5. Teacher leaves two pictures with
no description and asks pupils to
describe the pictures shown.
6. Teacher moves on to the next
activity.

Answer the Questions
1. Teacher distributes worksheets to
pupils.
2. The worksheets contain six
questions that could help them in
writing the essay during the
publishing stage.
3. Teacher gives instruction to
pupils.
4. Pupils who do not understand the
questions can ask for help from the
teacher.
5. Teacher guides pupils who need
guidance.
6. Teacher moves on to the next
stage.
Example of Questions
1) Your class had a trip to the Amazon Jungle, when and how did you go there?
2) Did you meet the native Amazonian? Describe how they are.
3) How do you travel during your trip in the jungle? Do you walk? Or did you ride a motorboat? Describe your
vehicle.
4) What animals did you see during the trip? Describe the animals. Are they big? Are they cute or fierce?
5) How did you feel about the animal? Were you scared? Or did you touch it? Did you run away from the
animals? 6) At the end of the trip, do you feel tired? Were you
happy with the trip? Describe your feeling.
Publishing
(20 minutes)
Write an essay
1. Teacher gives a new worksheet to
pupils.
2. The worksheets contain boxes
where pupils need to write a short
essay on their trip to the Amazon
Jungle.
3. Pupils could refer to their answers
in the writing stage.
4. Teacher guides pupils who do not
know how make certain sentences.
5. Pupils who volunteer read their
essay in front of the class.
6. Teacher gives feedback and
moves on to the next stage.
