FROM THE CHAIRMAN’S DESK

With a great pleasure, I would like to take this opportunity to express my thoughts as the Chairman of LDRP Institute of Technology and Research. Our college, established in the year 2005-2006 with a vision to lay emphasis on interaction of the institute with the industries, research and development, learning resource development along with the academic syllabus. I encourage you to follow the life mission of Pujya Chhanganbha, the founder of KSV: “Kar bhala, hoga bhala”.

Our college has various student branches like IEEE, WDC, ICTCE, mentoring cell, etc. which conduct various workshops and events all around the year to encourage the budding of students and provide them ample opportunities for their overall development. Our college also provides academic merit scholarships to the students and also provide scholarship to the students who are financially incapable.

Today, here we are celebrating a decade of successful enlightenment. It is a

matter of great pride for us to launch our college‟s first yearly magazine

éternité on the occasion of our technical festival, Xenesis‟15. With great pride,

I appreciate the efforts of the team behind it and convey all my best wishes to

them.

It is my pleasure to express my thoughts as the Principal of LDRP Institute of Technology and Research. Our institute holds the manifold distinction of being amongst one of the best colleges imparting technical education in Gujarat.

Our institute was established in the year 2005-2006 with an objective to enlighten the students with technical, social and cultural knowledge and provide them with ample opportunities for their overall progress.

Today, we have completed 10 successful years of imparting knowledge. It is a matter of great pride for us to launch our college‟s first yearly magazine “éternité” on the occasion of our technical festival, Xenesis‟15. I wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts put in by the team who made the idea work out and in bringing it out successfully.

Dear Readers,

It gives us great pleasure and pride to present the first magazine of LDRP-ITR éternité. In this fast changing world, every college needs a platform to showcase their work, research and achieve-ments and éternité is a great way to know about our institute, its suc-cess as well as the various events and competitions conducted. It also

portrays the outstanding achievements of students in various areas and hence encourages the mass to bring forth their talent and take it to the right direction with the help of our mentors.

This magazine should be viewed as a launch pad for those who have the potential to thrive ahead. We have divided this magazine into various sections like technical, cultural, sports and much more to explore.

We feel proud to declare that with the support and dedicated efforts of the college authorities, we are able to issue the first edition of our college magazine. I hope, our readers will find this magazine informative and inspiring.

ABOUT US

"Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal" - the trust was formed

in 1919, and commenced its activities at Kadi in 1921 through the

generous donations from the society and through the visionary

effort of Pujya Chhaganbha who is the founder of the Mandal.

Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya has been setup by Sarva

Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal in Gujarat State in May 2007

and approved by UGC with the vision of imparting education and

proceed towards excellence by encouraging students in various fields

of research and development.

LDRP Institute of Technology and Research, Gandhinagar was

established in 2005-2006 presently affiliated with KSV. The

institute focuses on advancing knowledge and enlightening students

in fields of science and technology that will eventually lead to the

development of the society. LDRP provides an excellent platform to

students to exhibit their talent and skills for their personal and

intellectual development.

Vision of the Department: "To be motivated continuously for excellence in education, research and technological service to society and the nation. "Department of Mechanical Engineering at LDRP-ITR has been started since the inception of the institute in the year 2006. The department, consisting of full fledge faculties and laboratories, is one of the largest departments. The department offers Bachelor of Engineering Degree and also Diploma to Degree programmes. The activities of the department have been broadly classified into three streams viz. Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Thermal En-gineering. The department aims at empowering students with the technical knowledge and computer related skills. Extending educational opportunities to institutions, industry and government to enhance quality of the life of people, at large using Computer Technology. The national youth festival is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekanand on January 12 is always celebrated as National Youth Day and the week commencing from that day is also known as the National Youth Week. As part of National Youth Week celebrations, the Government of India (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) in collaboration with one of the state governments holds the National Youth Festival every year during National Youth Week, 12 to 16 January.

KADI SARVA VISHWAVIDHYALAYA organizes this inter-college festival where students from various faculties participate in different competitions ranging from intellectual ,fine arts, performing arts and so on. Every year our students participate in all these activities and brings dozen of prices.

The various activities conducted in the college are geared to inculcate in students leadership qualities, organizing abilities, human values, team spirit, fellowship and the joy of sharing with the less privileged.

Our champs participated in "Dance Off" Inter College Competition organized by IIT Gandhinagar in 2010 in which 20 colleges participated and ANMOL SHAH secured the 1st position surviving the tough competition.

HARSH SHAH was another warrior on the dance floor who brought glory to our college securing 1st position in Solo Dance competition held at Chandkheda Vishvakarma University in 2010 and also the whole group of dancers of that batch who secured the 1st position in Group Dance Competition.

JAINIL BHATT of 5th sem ME (2010) added another jewel to our cap by achieving 1st place in Elocution Competition and Debate Competition which was organized by Mamta IAS Academy , not only this he also got selected for State Level Competition of Elocution and also secured 4th place in Quiz Competition.

In 2010, one of the brightest student KASHIPARA DENISH of LDRP-ITR (8th semester ME) , got 2nd place in AISA'S LARGEST COLLEGE TECHNICAL FESTIVAL at IIT Bombay held from 22th January 2010 to 24th January 2010.

ART SPHERE AND BHASA GYAN YAGNA organized cultural activities in which PRATIKSHA VERMA stood 2nd in RANGOLI COMPETITION,

RIDHI NAYAK showcased her excellence in BOOK REVIEW, KINJAL CHAUDHARY got 2nd prize in STORY COMPLETION.

Various colleges aspires to be a leader in various co-curricular activities like Cultural activities, Sports activities, Social activities, NCC, NSS etc. GTU has started various cultural activities in the year 2011. Youth Festival is one of the important events. GTU is also planning various activities to preserve cultural heritage of India. Youth Festivals in GTU are organized at Zonal level which are Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, VV Nagar & Rajkot zone. Themes usually are be Save Girl Child, Preserve Cultural Heritage; Environment etc.

The youth festivals consists of events such as quiz, elocution, debate, rangoli, mimicry, collage making, essay, poster making, and performing arts.

In 2008-2009, ANUBHAV SINGH stood second in RANGOLI COMPETION and UMRAT BHAVSAR was in top three in COLLAGE MAKING. Again in 2012 Youth fest, we conquered the first place in inter-zonal competition and third place in ALL INDIA WEST ZONE held in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

This year had been a great success for our College in GTU youth fest . The dedication and commitment put in this year has been outstanding which lead us to be the CHAMPIONS of 2014 youth fest.

This was truly an exuberant year with number of activities LDRP-ITR proudly conducted .

IEEE

IEEE is the world‟s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. Since the past 125 years IEEE has provided a platform for the students throughout the world to explore new possibilities in the field of engineering through innovation and implementation. IEEE activities promote research culture by awarding research grants and pub-lishing research papers.

The penchant for discovering new horizons in research areas and exploring new technologies has lead to the formation of the IEEE student chapter of LDRP-ITR. Since its inception the aim of student branch has been to organize technical and non-technical events during the course of time. By organizing such activities the students not only gain sound technical knowledge but are imbibed with leadership skills and team work. These qualities form an integral part of their multifaceted development. Its endeavor is to organize IEEE activities on a regular basis along with healthy participation from members of various student branches. Many students from the student branch are also serving for IEEE at India Council in various chapters. This year IEEE STUDENT BRANCH of LDRP-ITR will have Computer Society chapter established at the branch. IEEE SB LDRP-ITR also has an affinity group established named “WOMEN IN ENGINEERING(WIE)” which encourages activities of women engineers in the field of engineering.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME(NSS)

In NSS, the activities ranged from Volunteers distributing clothes among the poor in slum areas, collecting donation (worth 4220 Rs.) for Sainik Welfare and Resettlement fund, Visiting to serve BLIND PEOPLE‟S ASSOCIATION as well as Campus development work (Plantation, Campus cleaning). There were also Medical check-up camps conducted in nearby villages and colleges, Thalassemia Awareness and Testing camp and numerous blood donation camps (around 500 bot-

tles collected) were headed by volunteers. There was also seven-day camps at remote villages were held twice, wherein volunteers worked for their welfare and betterment.

In 2014-15, Aditya Patel, Parin Barot and Niyati Jogani attended Ad-venture Camps at Manali and Junagadh as well.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS(NCC)

The activities ranged from Free Medical check-up camp at Fatehpura, Mansa, attending Vibrant Gujarat programme on “Global Academy Conference” at PDPU in January 2013, visiting of NDRF-6 Battalion to a Peace Walk.

The Achievements are:

In 2008-09, LDRP was allotted 50 seats in NCC AIR-WING. These 50 cadets gave entrance and practical exam for the same. 26 cadets cleared these exams, out of which 22 cadets joined NCC AIR-WING and thereby camped at Bhavnagar.

In 2013, Cadet/Tejas Dharani was selected for 2500 km bike rally rganizedby9BT.NCC.

In 2013, 11 students attended Army Attachment Camp and Combined Annual Training Camp.

Cadets Shivani Dave, Abhishek Jain and Abhinav Kataria attended National Integration Camp at Punjab, Chennai, and Surat respectively in 2014.

THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

(IETE)

IETE is established in LDRP-ITR since past few years.it aims at reaching the un-reached and empowering the youth through Technical Education and Skill Development. It also aims at ad-vancement of Electronics, Telecommunication, Information Technology & other related disciplines to contribute in Nation‟s Human Resource & Infrastructure Development through our Engi-neers. The IETE branch of LDRP-ITR conducts workshops, seminars in the institute all the year around.

WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL (WDC)

Women development cell was established in 2005 in LDRP-ITR.

The cell aims at overall development of female students in the college

ranging from technical development to cultural development and much

more. The cell organizes various activities like women day

celebrations, techno expo (showcasing of technical projects),

decoration of thali etc. this cell is one of the most active cells in the

institute which encourages female students to showcase their talents.

Badminton:

Nikhil Pandey was Gujarat University South Zonal Singles Winner in 2008-09and Gujarat University South Zonal Singles Winner in 2009-10.

Zeshaan Shaikh was the All India West Zone Inter University Winner in 2014-15.

Chess:

Jalai Dave stood 1st in Gujarat University organized South Zone Inter

College in 2010-11 and was also Selected for All India Inter University Competition in 2009-10.

Dhruv Galani secured place in top 10 players of GTU in 2010-11.

Parin Choksi was the GTU Inter Zone Tournament Winner in 2012-13.

Table Tennis:

Rahul Bariya secured place in top 8 players of GTU in 2010-11 and was selected for All India

West Zone Inter University in 2011-12.

Ami Patel, Aditi Pugelia, Falaknaz Pathan were Gold Medalists at CONCOURS in 2011-12 held at DA-IICT.

Team of Ami Patel, Aditi Pugelia and Rajvi Jain were GTU Gandhinagar Zone Winners in 2013-14.

Swimming:

Dikul Suryawal was the winner of 100m Freestyle in 2008-09.

College team players won Rs.24000/- as prize money in Khel Mahakhumbh in 2011-12.

Smith Bhalala was Selected for All India Inter University in 2012-13.

Rifle Shooting:

The team of LDRP-ITR secured1st place in senior boys State Level Air Riffle Shooting Competition.

Javelin Throw:

Prakash Mangera secured 1st place in PDPU Petro Cup in 2009-10, 2nd place

in PDPU Petro Cup in 2011-12 and 1st place GTU Inter Zone Tournament.

Upkarsingh Dhillon secured 2nd place in PDPU Petro Cup in 2011-12 and 3rd

place in GTU Inter Zone Tournament in 2012-13.

XENESIS

Xenesis stands for the term Evolution. Xenesis, the tech fest of LDRP-ITR is one of the most awaited and most popular tech fest among the Gujarat‟s technical colleges with an average participation of more than 1500 students and 2000 visitors from different colleges every year, since the inception in 2007. The faculties and the students of all branches of Engineering and Management put behind lots of effort to present the

vast array of events, technical and non-technical, successfully. Xenesis provides a tremendous platform for the students to showcase their exemplary talent and extraordinary skills in various fields and encourage them to exploit their latent talent.

Xenesis, this year is gearing up with the theme of “Techno Green”.

The two day tech fest Xenesis‟15, commencing on March 19 will be followed by a vast variety of technical and non-technical events of all the departments to give a boost to the spirits of the students celebrating a successful decennium of LDRP-ITR. The theme lays emphasis on celebrating the tech fest on the completion of 10 years of the college with techno green evolution.

A major gig to this year‟s tech fest is the launching of the college‟s yearly magazine „éternité‟. The magazine is being launched as a part of college‟s celebration on the occasion of its completion of efficacious ten years.

More than 700 teams from other colleges are participating in various events, workshops/seminars etc. Some of the major events of this year from dif-ferent departments include:

X-MOM:

A mock placement event in which the students will get an opportunity to be well versed with the placement paths and procedure.

X- Fast-and-Curious:

Build a manual wire/wireless BOT which can surpass all obstacles and hurdles on its way and reach the final line in minimum time.

Bridge-X-Mania:

This is a group event in which bridge has to be constructed using materials like straws, ice cream sticks etc.

X-Laser Stri-X:

Counter strike based on electronics components and combating team that includes electron (terrorists) and proton (counter-terrorists).

X-Wire-O-Tech:

Every student will be provided with 24 to 27 gauges 3 meter copper wires with which they have to make a creative model by twisting and breaking or resizing .

SCHOLARSHIPS

The university offers the students studying in the college several

scholarships, merit scholarships, tuition fee waiver schemes, etc. Many

students get tremendous benefit of such schemes every year.

-Merit Scholarship:

To encourage the students (of all the departments) with outstanding

performance in academics, they are offered the Shri Maneklal M Patel Memorial

Merit Scholarship, every year since 2012. The scholarship amount is 50% of the

tuition fee per annum paid by the student in any normal case. However, the

amount of the scholarship is decided as per the criteria laid by the university.

The number of students who were benefited under this scholarship in the past

years is as follows:

-Admission through TFW Scheme and fee waiver by the management:

With an aim that the talented students should not be left behind due to lack of necessary funds, every year the college admits 5% of the total intake of students under the TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) scheme. Moreover, the management also offers TFW scheme to the economically challenged students. The statistics for the no. of students benefitted under this scheme are as follows in the recent years:

Fee waiver scheme of college:

The institute provides a helping hand to the students who are financially incapable with a Full/Partial Fee Waiver scheme, every year. In the full fee waiver scheme, the full fee of the student is waived whereas in the partial fee waiver scheme, partial amount of the fee is waived.

Government Scholarships:

The government offers tuition fee waiver schemes to the students of minority community. The various government schemes are offered to the students as per the government rules.

GATE Stipend:

The students of ME (Maters in Engineering) who are admitted on the basis of GATE merit list are offered stipend every month by AICTE as per their criteria‟s.

Placement Cell

Placement cell is an important wing for any institution in order to provide opportunities for its students to get placed in good companies and secure their future. The institute feels validated in the quality of education and experience it provide to our students when a majority of its students are successfully placed on campus. Industry Institution Inter-action Cell (III Cell) has been established with a view to maintain a full

time interaction with different industries to be updated with their activities and to organize industrial visits which can help the students.

Many pooled campus drives have been hosted by LDRP in which around 600 students from different colleges in Gujarat were placed out of which 200 students were from LDRP. The list of major companies that come for the cam-pus selection every year includes iGate Patni, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, L & T In-foTech, Navy, etc. The highest package offered is 9 lakh per annum and the av-erage package offered is 2.8 lakh per annum whereas the minimum package of-fered is 1.2 lakh per annum.
