    +Before Hurricane Katrina

    1969 2005

    Camille Katrina

Both Camille (1969) and Katrina (2005) made landfall on the

along the Gulf Coast of the United States. It is due to

the nature of both and the media coverage given for the

impact of both hurricanes that many citizens decided to try

to ride out Katrina in 2005. After experiencing Camille

and surviving one of Americas most deadly storms (258 dead

and $1.42 billion in damages), numerous citizens of Katrina

found the circumstances the same this time around, and

assumed the outcome would also be the same, especially

since they did not believe another Camille could hit

    them.
