    Executive informationsystem

    A type of management information system intended to

    facilitate and support the information and decision-making

    needs ofsenior executives by providingeasy access to bothinternal and external information relevant to meeting thestrategic goals of the organization.

    It is commonly considered as a specialized form of

    decision support system (DSS). EIS helps top-level executives analyse, compare, and

    highlight trends in important variables so that they canmonitor performance and identify opportunities and

    problems.
