ABOUT LBRCE Lakireddy Bali Reddy College of Engineering is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified institution, approved by AICTE, Accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 'A' Grade and National Board of Accreditation (NBA). It has spacious campus spread over 60 acres, of serene and natural surroundings with plenty of greenery in Mylavaram, Krishna District. It has sufficient infrastructure with an administration block of 60,000 sq.ft. It facilitates AC Auditorium, AC Conference‐room, well equipped laboratories, free internet with 28mbps leased line, a world class Library server with 4.5 tb back up area, an extension counter of Central Bank of India, excellent canteen to cater to the needs of students and staff.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Dr.E.V. Prasad took charge as the Director, LBR College of Engineering, Mylavaram on Oct‐2013. Under his able guidance several R and D activities in the College have been initiated. Within a very short span of time after his taking over of the reins of the college, he has streamlined the Academics and Administration in a highly Professional way. The students discipline is given top priority. The faculty and staff were highly motivated for committed and dedicated service.

Now the College is marching towards the realization of the dream in war footing with various student development activities being introduced in the college to achieve the goal. To make the dream come true several programmes have already been initiated and put in action such as industry sponsored research projects, English language laboratory, introduction of Communication and staff skills department, computer aided GRE/TOEFL and Gate Coaching , Guest Lectures by eminent Professors and Professionals, appointing highly experienced and qualified faculty who are regularly sponsored to National and International conferences/Workshops, maintaining always 1:15 Faculty student ratio, established research centers in the departments. ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL Dr.N.R.M.Reddy Graduated in Civil Engineering in 1984 from University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Post Graduated in Civil Structural Engineering in 1986 from JNTU, Hyderabad. Attained Ph.D in Structural Engineering from JNTU‐A, Anantapur. To his credit he has several papers published in National and International Journals. Attended several workshops, seminars, conferences, short‐term courses etc. He has vast experience of about 30 years in teaching and worked as Principal & Director in various Engineering Colleges.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The department of Electronics and Instrumentation has started in 2002 with an intake of 60 students keeping in view the need for instrumentation engineers in the industrial sector. Instrumentation precisely is the measurement and control of various parameters of any system. It is fascinating motley of multifarious disciplines of technology such as process control, Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical measurements and transducer Engineering. This Department offers Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at UG level. This curriculum is formulated with motto of making the students aware of the current Industrial standards. With this perfect blend of industrial exposure, coupled with good technical base, our students have made a presence in various technological domains in all the top‐level industries. Another fact that catapults the fame of the Department to great heights is the strong bond between the students, Professors and Alumni.

ABOUT THE HOD

R.Anjaneyulu Naik completed his B.Tech in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering from KITS,Warangal in 2000. He did his M.Tech in in Control And Instrumentation from IIT Madras in 2003 & pursuing Ph.D in Instrument Tech, ANDHRA UNIVERSITY. Presently he is working as Associate Professor and Head of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering Department. He attended various workshops, seminars and conferences.

ADVANCED RESEARCH LABS

NATIONAL MEMS DESIGN CENTER (NMDC)

Origin of NMDC: A National MEMS Design Centre (NMDC) at our institute has been established in the year 2011 under National Program on Micro and Smart Systems (NPMASS) for the benefit of users from the nearby isolated region. LBRCE motivates the research activity in the field of Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) by proper utilization of the facilities provided by NPMASS from design to fabrication of prototype MEMS products and specific field applications. LBRCE will also facilitate external researchers, faculty and graduate/post graduate students from other interested institutes (academic or National Labs subject to individual software licensing conditions) to use the provided design tools. This MEMS network centre is a centralized laboratory for creating new modules of MEMS based devices. Inauguration Details: National MEMS Design Centre (NMDC) at our institute has been inaugurated on 22-02-2011 in the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering by the Hon’ble Chairman, Er. Lakireddy Bali Reddy Garu & Prof. S. Mohan (Centre for Excellence – Nano Electronics), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore as the guest of Honour. NMDC was established with the support and collaboration of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore under NPMASS Program (National Program on Micro and Smart Systems), and Govt. of India. About NPMASS The National Program on Micro and Smart Systems (NPMASS) has been launched after the success of National Program on Smart Materials (NPSM), which is a unique program, working towards the basic aim of creating awareness in India about MEMS and Smart Systems. The NPMASS under Government of India is wholly supported by Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) through Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), and is endorsed by the five departments DRDO, Department of Space (DOS), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Department of Information Technology (DIT). Lab facilities Initially, Indian Institute Science (IISc), Bangalore has funded this design centre by providing design software tools viz., COMSOL Multiphysics, Coventorware, IntelliSuite and MEMS+. (All the software tools together worth of around Rs. 50 Lakhs).The necessary infrastructure for the NMDC has been provided by the College Management. Every year, software tools will be renewed with the financial support of College Management.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Student Memberships All B.Tech E.I.E Students have been taken membership in Instrument Society Of India (ISOI) for the academic year 2014‐15. Inaugural of ISOI student chapter by department of E.I.E was done on 28th February 2015. Internship LBRCE is working on providing "Internship" to students for giving experience of working outside and also providing useful input from both students and Departmental staff into industrial problems. Internship can be Industrial or Research Internships in collaboration with Industry and research centers like BHEL, CTID, DRDO, C‐MET, VIZAG STEEL PLANT, and ONGC etc. Benefits for the Students The benefits of participation in an industrial internship for the student include the following: 1. The Project provides an opportunity to work in depth on a selected area where the problems are of industrial significance and typical of those which a new graduate might expect to find when joining industry. 2. The project offers the student an opportunity of actually using the material he/she has been taught and thus reinforces this material. This reinforcement process is, of course, aided by the input from the Academic Supervisor. 3. The Project offers the student the opportunity of working in an industrial environment and is an excellent preparation towards his/her ultimate employment. 4. Carrying out an industrial internship allows the student to demonstrate his/her abilities within the sponsoring organisation; this often leads to employment opportunities and is therefore also beneficial to the student. Term Paper A research paper written by students over an academic term, accounting for a large part of a grade. Term papers are generally intended to describe an event, a concept, or argue a point. A term paper is a written original work discussing a topic in detail, usually several typed pages in length. This has to be submitted at the end of final semester. Projects/Mini Projects A project is a research assignment given to a student which generally requires a larger amount of effort and more independent work than is involved in a normal essay assignment. It requires students to undertake

their own fact‐finding and analysis, either from library/internet research or from gathering data empirically. The written report that comes from the project is usually in the form of a dissertation, which will contain sections on the project's inception, analysis, findings and conclusions. Industrial Visit LBRCE believes in balancing theory and practical training. During the course duration we take our students for several industrial visits. Industry interface enables students to analyze and understand the ever changing dynamics of the industry. These visits provide students with adequate exposure in tackling live problems encountered in the working of an industrial entity. This helps them receive industrial exposure from eminent public personalities in the world of Engineering and Technology. As part of a visit, students see work in progress and relevant demonstrations. Employers also talk to the students about career paths, job descriptions, the schooling needed to enter the field and what employers look for in employees. These visits are designed to provide students with firsthand knowledge of a working environment. IRP Organizes industrial visits for students and faculty to various industries as recommended by the departments.

Seminar A seminar is, generally, a form of academic instruction, either at an academic institution or offered by a commercial or professional organization. It has the function of bringing together small groups for recurring meetings, focusing each time on some particular subject, in which everyone present is requested to actively participate. Association Program The students of department group together to form association .They conducted the meeting twice in a month in which they share ideas, innovative thoughts, discuss about the sensitive matter related to world or country, debate etc.

Personality Development As a part of the student personality development, the following three activities may be encouraged. 1. Learn an English word a day: A white board will be kept in each department, where the word, its meaning and its usages will be written . Once English word every day will be introduced. 2. Thought of the day: A quotation will be written everyday on the board. 3. My Industry in the News: A few headlines from the news, preferably from the industry, to which the department belongs to, will be written on the board. All the above three activities will be carried out by the students themselves under the advice of a faculty member.
