This scene is quite typical for a romantic drama trailer–
showing the early stages of a friendship/relationship, this introduces the characters to
the audience.
Having two shots of these characters hints to the audience that they are the protagonists within the film, this is beneficial because they audience know to look out for them throughout the trailer.
This shot is a stage in the trailer when something dramatic happens, this is typical for a trailer because it adds drama and the audience will automatically want to know what is or will happen after this event.
This screen grab is from the beginning of the trailer, the establishing shot is important as it shows the setting and can sometimes introduce the characters characteristics.
This screen grab shows the boyfriend dining with his girlfriend’s family and friends, the mise en scene shows how wealthy the girl’s family are and the contrast with the white costume and the
male in black shows the contrast in characters, this hints that the storyline will show a lot of differences within class and status.
The title of the film appears at the end of the trailer, this is typical as the entire filming is built up to this. It is obvious that the film title will appear at some point in the trailer as the audience will need to know the name in order to find the actual film. The old fashioned writing hints that the
film is light hearted and romantic.
