• Some sexualised behaviour This film was released in the year 2006, so it’s quite an old film now but it is an independent film with a young protagonist. The ages range between 15-45 because it is mainly there for comedy purposes. It included, a young protagonist, male and female characters, a script, a rating, actors names and pictures.

2. THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER- What is it about? Socially awkward teen Charlie is a Wallflower, she is always watching life from the sidelines, until two

students become his mentors. Free-spirited Sam and her stepbrother Patrick help Charlie discover the joys of friendship, first love, music etc, while a teacher sparks Charlie's dreams of becoming a writer. However, as his new friends prepare to leave for college, Charlie's inner sadness could shatter his newfound confidence.

Here is the audience rating of the film, it got rated a PG with age 14 being a suitable age to view it. This film was released in the year 2012, so it is fairly recent film to watch which means that they may have included more up to date camera angles, and the editing may be better. It includes, a young protagonist as it is a independent film, a bold title, pictures of the actors on the front cover, rating, male and female actors, release date, and how long the film is. This film made me want to include a bold title.

3. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE- What is it about? As 18-year-old Jamal Malik answers questions on the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," flashbacks show how he got there. After their mother dies, they become poor and homeless. Jamal and his brother Salim, survive on the streets of Mumbai. Salim finds the life of crime agreeable, but Jamal scrapes by with small jobs until landing a place on the game show.

Above is another audience rating of the film, it got rated a 15 to view this film, obviously the ages in red are the ages which are not suitable to view this film. This film was released in the year 2008, and it quite a well known film. It shows how you could loose everything but then suddenly you could gain it all back. I think the age 15 is a fairly suitable age to view this film as it could cause upset to younger viewers. It includes, a colourful effective title, a background on the front cover which is suitable, a question with answers in the style of who wants to be a millionaire, actors names, the winning label at the top and of course a young protagonist.

4. THE SQUID AND THE WHALE- What is it about? A pair of brothers living in Brooklyn are caught in the middle of, and deeply affected by the divorce of their parents. Both the brothers felt like they had to take sides, the older sibling Walt sides with his dad and starts to act out at school, while younger brother Frank quietly backs up his mom. The household tension rises further when Joan's writing career takes off and surpasses the failed ambitions of her professor ex-husband.

This is the review by the audience for this film, as you can see it was rated not for kids so got rated a ‘R’ film. This is down to emotional scenes and strong sexual content. It was released in 2005 and also had been voted for the most popular independent film. It shows how divorce can affect people lives and families. This film includes, a picture on the front cover showing the main characters which is the family, a unique title which is made in a ‘sea like way’ to make the sea animals stand out more, actors names, a young protagonist, a rating, how long the film lasts, a summary on what it is about and both male and female characters. There are different types of genres in the genre itself independent. For example, we have a comedy independent film or a drama independent film, which is most popular. Most independent films are mostly targeted at both genders as its suitable for both because it’s a popular genre to choose from but also females mostly watch romance films whereas males tend to watch more action films. But, males are mostly drawn to independent comedies because males like humour. It is also targeted at ages 13-19 year olds meaning that the target audience ages generally ranges from 13-30 as older people will also enjoy independent films. Also, as part as our audience research the survey which was posted below was handed out to both genders ranging from the ages 13-19 year olds as we considered that to be our target audience. But they were also handed out to ages up to 30 year olds to see why they did or they didn’t enjoy independent films. We considered this type of film was watched mostly in groups and not alone because it is always more enjoyable watching it with friends because you find everything much more funnier. Romance films can also be defined as an independent film as the plot sometimes revolves around the love of two protagonists. They can show this in many different ways, for example, love at first sight or even secretly loving your sister’s husband to be. Romance films aim to make the audience feel emotional and gain feelings by ether making the film have a happy ending when both young protagonist end up falling in love or making it devastating by making them going

separate ways. Couples are mostly going to watch romance films together as they look at it and relate to what they have got. Overall, it’s helped me to think what to include in my opening sequence. For example I need to include: A male and female character mainly A rating on what age the film could be seen at A climax- devastating news? Actors names A big bold title Two people falling in love A happy/devastating end to the sequence Some form of love between a couple or family members A young protagonist Props such as flowers or chocolates (portraying love)
