FileWave - The Ultimate MDM Solution

MDM devices are everywhere...in business, in education and in homes. These devices are inspiring organizations to develop innovative new ways to accelerate productivity and learning and to improve the lives of their customers, students and families. As mobile devices become a common everyday tool for schools and businesses, the need for device management becomes more important and necessary. IT departments are now responsible for the management and deployment of new software and updates to these devices, as well as the computers that had previously occupied most of their time. FileWave, well known as a deployment management solution for computers, is also the ultimate solution for mobile device management (MDM). With the FileWave Software Management Suite, IT administrators can be assured that they will stay one step ahead in this ever-changing environment.

FileWave is a platform agnostic management tool designed to support your existing environment—Mac, Windows and MDM devices. The FileWave server is installed on your choice of operating system, Mac, Windows or Linux, and the admin application can be run on either a Mac or Windows client OS. With FileWave, you can manage all of your MDM devices within a single admin window, alongside your Mac and Windows clients.

FileWave manages deployments at the file level by using Filesets. A Fileset consists of all the files that comprise an application or other deployment. By managing deployments at the file level, Filesets allow an administrator to easily and quickly manage, modify or delete any file, at any time. If software has been deployed and a problem is found, an administrator can simply modify the files necessary to fix the problem. The client system will only pull down the changed files, reducing network traffic and allowing you to resolve issues within minutes.

FileWave Key Features The FileWave Software Management Suite offers many key features that save time and

increase your IT department’s productivity.

Apple Integration with MDM - FileWave supports Apple’s MDM (mobile device management), providing seamless integration for app and profile deployment, data protection, remote wipe and inventory reporting. FileWave’s MDM solution allows you to utilize Apple’s Layered and Institution deployment models and create profiles

using the latest version of Apple’s Configurator or IPCU. You can also import VPP spreadsheets into FileWave and associate codes to an app, eliminating the need to manually distribute codes to users. Searching the iTunes library and distributing non-DRM content (podcast, video and audio) to remote sync stations is easy with FileWave. When iOS devices are sync’d to client stations, your iTunes content will be available on the devices.

Kiosk - FileWave Kiosk is a self-service portal for your end-users to pull down software, applications and other content that you have made available. The Kiosk will be updated anytime you associate new Kiosk material or applications to that system.

Resuming Interrupted Deployments - FileWave is resilient to network connectivity and power disruptions without a restart. If the deployment of an application or other content is interrupted, FileWave will simply resume where it left off when the client becomes available again.

Patented Self-Healing - FileWave has the capability to self-heal or automatically repair files throughout your enterprise that have been modified, corrupted or deleted by a user, system or virus without any interruption to the end user or your IT team. Every 24 hours or upon reboot, the FileWave client performs a verification.

Rollback with Zero Network Impact - When updates or new versions of software cause unforeseen problems, the FileWave rollback feature allows an administrator to revert the software on any or all systems to the previous version in a few minutes.

Full-Featured Inventory Reporting - FileWave’s Inventory software is an easy way to quickly access and keep track of installed hardware and software, providing details about the operating system, software versions, security packages and network settings on each client (Apple/Windows/MDM). Inventory can create reports detailing

application and client system usage in either .xls or .csv formats to be emailed out. With FileWave Inventory, you can schedule scans of your network to discover devices that do not currently have the Inventory client installed.

Cloud-Hosted SolutionsFileWave is committed to giving clients maximum flexibility and complete scalability. As such, FileWave has tested and approved the use of it’s server technology on Cloud-hosted solutions such as Amazon’s AWS EC2. Naturally, where clients have the ability to run their own FileWave server in an internet facing mode, the clients connect in a safe and seamless manner using https.

AWS EC2 (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud)A central part of Amazon.com’s cloud computing platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS). EC2 allows users to rent virtual computers on which to run their own computer applications. EC2 allows scalable deployment of applications by providing a Web service through which a user can boot an Amazon Machine Image to create a virtual machine, which Amazon calls an “instance”, containing any software desired.
