WEEK 2 PLANNING – HOME LEARNING – MRS HARRISON – EYFS ENGLISH MATHS LEARNING CHALLENGE OF THE DAY MON READING Read the ‘Back to Earth with a Bump’ eBook. Complete the ‘talk cards’. COUNTING Complete the back to Earth with a bump counting cards. If you don’t have a printer, just look at the sheets on a computer or on your phone and get your child to count each set of pictures and point to the correct number. Create a space man/astronaut. You could use the split pin sheet below (just cut and stick if you don’t have split pins) or make your own. TUES PHONICS: Optional – Watch Geraldine Giraffe https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=6U354eD-hgQ Practice saying the ‘th’ sound. Explain that today’s sound can make 2 sounds – an unvoiced, soft ‘th’ like in the word bath and a voiced, hard ‘th’ like in the word this. Today we will look at the unvoiced ‘th’ – the soft ‘th’. Complete/look at ‘th’ phonics PowerPoint 1. SIZE COMPARISON Can your child identify the object that is the same size? (see sheet below) Further Challenge – can they say which order the pictures would go in if they were being ordered from smallest to biggest? Complete the Day and Night Challenge: Use the resource below (or make your own list) to decide what things happen in the day and what things happen at night. WED CHARACTER INFERENCE Imagine you are Hal. What are you thinking at different points in the story (see below)? Can you complete the thought bubbles with something that Hal might be thinking? Again, NUMBER ORDERING Create your own space themed number cards to 10, 20 or 30. You could make them stars or planets. Can you put the in order? Can you order the numbers backwards? Watch rocket launches online. Draw a picture or record some of the things your child says.

FRI POSTCARD FROM SPACEPretend to be Hal sending a postcard from Space. Who would you send it to and what would you say? Optional printout below.

NUMBER IDENTIFICATION/COUNTINGDraw pictures of the things Hal saw in space. Write the number of things he saw. EG. draw 6 stars and write the number 6. Draw 9 planets and write the number 9.

Complete the astronaut challenge below. Think about what astronauts do in space and what equipment they may need.Again, you do not need to print this out if you can’t, just discuss.
