The Fall of the Human Race(Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

We will now study how sin entered the human race. This is often called “Original Sin” which it is from the human race point of view. But “first sin,” or really “original sin” occurred long ago when Lucifer rebelled against God and said his five “I wills.” It was called the “sin of iniquity” and it is this same sin that has now infected the human race through the fall of Adam and Eve. When man goes contrary to the will of God, he is saying “I will” in place of God’s will.

Turning Point – When Jesus DiedWe need to focus our attention on the pivotal point in God’s overall plan of the ages.

Chart – Fifth Dispensation It is at the changing of dispensations. The Dispensation of the Law came to a close and the Dispensation of Grace came in. This occurred when Christ died on the cross and He triumphed over sin and evil, and vindicated God’s Holiness. He crucified the flesh, the world and the Devil on that cross! When this occurred, Jesus cried “It is Finished!”

(John 19:30 KJV) When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The “COSMOS” Extinguished Paul told us that the whole “cosmos” was “impaled and extinguished” on that cross besides Paul, himself.

(Gal 6:14 KJV) But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Should glory, G2744. kauchaomai, kow-khah'-om-ahee; from some (obsol.) base akin to that of aucheo (to boast) and G2172; to vaunt (in a good or a bad sense):--(make) boast, glory, joy, rejoice.World, G2889. kosmos, kos'-mos; prob. from the base of G2865; orderly arrangement, i.e. decoration; by impl. the world (in a wide or narrow sense, includ. its inhab., lit. or fig. [mor.]):--adorning, world.

The world (τον κοσμον)Originally, order, and hence the order of the world; the ordered universe. So in classical Greek. In the Septuagint, never the world, but the ordered total of the heavenly bodies; the host of heaven (Deuteronomy 4:19; 17:3; Isaiah 24:21; 40:26).

Crucify, G4717. stauroo, stow-ro'-o; from G4716; to impale on the cross; fig. to extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness:--crucify.

So, God will eventually bring in a whole New Creation, a New Race of People, a New Heaven and a New Earth.

(Rev 21:1 KJV) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

(Rev 21:5 KJV) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.(Rev 21:6 KJV) And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

We have discussed the following:1. The entrance of sin into God’s Universe2. The person that brought in sin, Heylel Ben Shachar, Lucifer.3. That the entrance of sin occurred during the Gap Period.4. The Doctrine of Satan and his personality5. The Judgment of Satan.

For God to cleanse His universe and vindicate His nature, He had to enter into the fallen kingdom and this He began through the creation of man.

The Creation of ManIn the middle of a fallen Universe God decides to create man, who is without sin, in a human righteous state and puts him through a test. The creation of man was an act of God pre-determined before the foundation of the earth. This speaks to God’s foreknowledge and predestination of the human race.

(Eph 1:4 KJV) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Predestination is the sovereign act of God whereby He determined before hand his works. This includes the creation of man. Knowing by foreknowledge that man would fall, He determined beforehand to provide a salvation for man. This salvation would bring “whosoever will” into a relationship with the Creator that transcended the original state of the creature.

Why Did God Create Man?Why did God create man? And then place him in an environment, though restored from it’s fallen condition, still was the domain of the perpetrator of original sin. The creation of man was a direct, personal act of God, apart from any random evolutionary process. This is according to the Word of God and we accept this by faith.

(Gen 1:26 KJV) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.(Gen 1:27 KJV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

(Gen 2:7 KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

(Gen 2:21 KJV) And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;(Gen 2:22 KJV) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

(Gen 5:1 KJV) This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

2

(Gen 5:2 KJV) Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

We shall see that God determined to bring something better, something eternally holy and righteous, out of what seemed to be a great failure in His first creation. The “first creation” is now known as the “Old Creation.”

(Heb 2:9 KJV) But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.(Heb 2:10 KJV) For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Scripture is clear that God had a plan ahead of time to accomplish His purpose and counsel.

(Psa 2:7)  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.(Psa 2:8)  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

(Acts 2:23 KJV) Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

(Eph 1:3 KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:(Eph 1:4 KJV) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:(Eph 1:5 KJV) Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,(Eph 1:6 KJV) To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

The “New Creation” consisting both of redeemed man and the New Heaven and New Earth will never experience the presence of sin again.

Let Us Make Man – The Creation of AdamAccording to the scriptures, man was created by the direct, personal act of God. The scriptures give no support to an evolutionary process.

(Gen 1:26 KJV) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Make, H6213. 'asah, aw-saw'; a prim. root; to do or make, in the broadest sense and widest application (as follows):- - -

(Gen 1:27 KJV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Created, H1254. bara', baw-raw'; a prim. root; (absol.) to create; (qualified) to cut down (a wood), select, feed (as formative processes):--choose, create (creator), cut down, dispatch, do, make (fat).

The Trinity Was Involved in the Creation of Man and His Redemption“Let Us” proves the plurality of God. “Us” means the whole of the “Trinity” was involved in the creation of man. This is also demonstrated in Genesis 1:1 where “God” is “Elohim” which is plural. So, God the Father, God the Word, and God the Holy Spirit created man.

(Gen 1:1 KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.God, H430. 'elohiym, el-o-heem'; plur. of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but spec. used (in the plur. thus, esp. with the art.) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative:--angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.

(Gen 3:21 KJV) Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

We again see the Trinity involved in the redemption of man. It is the “Lord God,” or “Jehovah Elohim,” that clothed them with coats of skins. Jehovah is God’s redemptive name and Elohim is plural. The “coats of skins” points to the righteousness of Christ that we are clothed with and it is imputed to us by God, or simply, “charged to our account” without our efforts. For it says, the Lord God “clothed them.” The skins came from the sacrifice of the lambs whose blood was shed pointing to the Lamb of God, Jesus, whose blood was shed for the forgiveness of sin.

In the creation of man we find the use of two words, “asah” and “bara.” “Bara” means to create “out of nothing” and “ash” implies to “create out of something.”

(Gen 1:1 KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.Created, H1254. bara', baw-raw'; a prim. root; (absolve.) to create; (qualified) to cut down (a wood), select, feed (as formative processes):--choose, create (creator), cut down, dispatch, do, make (fat).

Vine’s Expository Dictionary tells us that the verb “bara” only has “God” as its subject. This must be so since only God can create “something out of nothing.”

Vines: bara, H1254, “to create, make.” This verb is of profound theological significance, since it has only God as its subject. Only god can “create” in the sense implied by bara. The verb expresses creation out of nothing, - - -

This process is further explained in the following verse:(Gen 2:7 KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Formed, H3335. yester, yaw-tsar'; prob. identical with H3334 (through the squeezing into shape); ([comp. H3331]), to mould into a form; speck. as a potter; fig. to determine (i.e. form a resolution):-- X earthen, fashion, form, frame, make (-r), potter, purpose.

This is the basis of “Old Creation.” It is that of a created “man,” “formed” by God “out of dust” meaning his body was “created out of something.” The “New Creation” body to be given to redeemed man by a new birth will be made out of Divine substance, a body like unto the Lords. We will talk more about this a little later when we discuss what salvation really is.

(Gen 1:28 KJV) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Scofield notes state “to replenish the earth with a new order” implying that the previous “order” was that which existed at the time of Lucifer’s fall.

His Creation – A CreatureGod directly created Adam’s body from existing material, “the dust of the ground.

(Gen 2:9 KJV) And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

(Gen 3:19 KJV) In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Ground, H127. 'adamah, ad-aw-maw'; from H119; soil (from its gen. redness):--country, earth, ground, husband [-man] (-ry), land.

H119. 'adam, aw-dam'; to show blood in the face), i.e. flush or turn rosy:--be (dyed, made) red (ruddy).

This makes Adam a “creation.” This is in contrast to the “regeneration” process when we are saved. We are “born ones.”

(Titus 3:5 KJV) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

regeneration, H3824. paliggenesia, pal-ing-ghen-es-ee'-ah; from G3825 and G1078; (spiritual) rebirth (the state or the act), i.e. (fig.) spiritual renovation; spec. Messianic restoration:--regeneration.

(John 3:3 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

(John 3:7 KJV) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

(1 Pet 1:23 KJV) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The “spirit” of Adam was “breathed into him by God and he became a “living soul.”(Gen 2:7 KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

The “spirit” of man is an eternal entity. It has fallen due to “original sin.” The spirit of unregenerate man will live eternally but in separation from God and its final resting place will be “the lake of fire.”

Christ is a “quickening spirit” and to those who are regenerated, they will live eternally but with God.

(1 Cor 15:45 KJV) And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

(1 Cor 6:17 KJV) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

The Creation of Eve – A Type of the BrideLet us talk a moment about the creation of Eve.God makes it very plain. He says:

“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”(Gen 2:18 KJV) And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

There is much controversy over the role of the woman in society. Women’s rights, feminism, equality in the work place, and on and on are at the forefront of conversation today. I do not intend to embroil ourselves in these controversies. I want to look at the greater meaning of male and female, husband and wife, in the spiritual sense. But, it must be established in the natural sense so that the type can be fully appreciated and allow us to understand the spiritual.

The scripture gives us these facts:1. It was the “man” that was first created.2. It was not good that the man should be alone.3. The man needed a help meet for him.4. The man was not created for the woman.5. The woman was created for the man.6. The woman is of the man and not the man of the woman.7. But, the man is by the woman.8. In the husband and wife context, the woman is “bone of his bones, and flesh

of his flesh.”9. The man shall cleave (follow after by hard pursuit and be joined together)

unto his wife and they shall be one flesh.10. The desire (longing for) of the women shall be to the husband.11. The husband shall rule (have dominion, power) over the woman.12. The head of the woman is the man.13. Wives are to submit themselves to the husband. 14. Husbands are to love their wife.15. They both were made in the likeness of God. 16. “Their name” is “Adam.”

Gen 2:18, 21-25; 3:16; 5:1,2; 1 Cor. 11:2-16; Eph 5:21-33; 1 Tim 2:

We have now, man and woman, male and female, created by God, made in his image and likeness.

The foreshadowing we find in this natural relationship is that of the “Bridegroom and the Bride.”

Christ, the Bridegroom, and His BrideThe man being first created speaks of the Last Adam being brought into existence as the God-man, Divine and human, that he might bring into being many sons out of which He might receive His Bride.

That man was not to be alone and needed a help meet speaks of Christ and His Bride as co-rulers over the new creation race.

6

Page 7: FILE:GOD34A03Notes€¦  · Web view11-A-GAC-3-19-18. The Fall of the Human Race (Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as . by one man sin entered. into the world, and death by sin; and so death

The woman was created for the man speaks of the same. That is, Christ as King needs a Queen to reign with Him over the Kingdom.

The woman is of the man speaks of the “rib portion” taken out of the Church to become His Bride.

The man is by the woman speaks of the seed, the God-man, that was of the woman that would bruise the head of the seed of the serpent.

The union of the man and the woman speaks of the intimate relationship of a grand and glorious marriage. They the Bridegroom and Bride have truly become “One.”

The desire of the woman for the husband speaks of the absolute devotion that the Bride shows toward her Bridegroom, both in communion and service.

The husband ruling over the woman again speaks of the absolute headship of Christ over the Church.

The headship of the man speaks of the Headship of the Son of Man.

Wives submitting themselves to their husband speaks of the Bridal Company’s “singleness” for Christ and Him only.

Submit, G5293. hupotasso, hoop-ot-as'-so; from G5259 and G5021; to subordinate; reflex. to obey:--be under obedience (obedient), put under, subdue unto, (be, make) subject (to, unto), be (put) in subjection (to, under), submit self unto

The love of the husband for the wife speaks of Christ’s love for this Bridal Company as she submits herself to Him.

Love, G25. agapao, ag-ap-ah'-o; perh. from agan (much) [or comp. H5689]; to love (in a social or moral sense):--(be-) love (-ed). Comp. G5368.

Being made in the image and the likeness of God speaks of the heights to which the Last Adam and his Eve with be exalted to, the union of the divine nature with humanity and the imparting of divine righteousness.

I would like to share what Mary M. Bodie wrote in her commentary:“Is Christ, as the Last Adam, to have no wife without spot or wrinkle, to present to Himself? (Eph. 5:23-

33) If He is to have such a companion, joint heir with Himself, she must yield to the washing and cleansing

by the Word. She must submit to her Husband in everything. And for such a wife, such a companion, the Lord is waiting, longing. "He nourisheth and cherisheth it," as though but one; for so they are, one in spirit, one in hope, one in love. They are one with Him, "members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones," not only by provision, but by actual participation. Is this too high for you? Too great a victory to expect? It is what God offers and it is humility on our part to take what He gives. His grace is sufficient, but we must avail ourselves of it. "According to your faith, be it unto you," is the principle in this, as in all God's dealings with us.”

Man and His Image – Definitions Man’s Image God created man in His “image” and “likeness.”

Image, H6754. tselem, tseh'-lem; from an unused root mean. to shade; a phantom, i.e. (fig.) illusion, resemblance; hence a representative figure, espec. an idol:--image, vain shew.

Being in the image of God does not mean that we as humans are “identical” to God nor are we “gods” but indicates that we are “similar” to God in makeup. Strong’s definition gives us the meaning “resemblance, a representative figure.”

The following definitions help us to define that “image.

PersonhoodBy creating us in His image, we have what may be called “personhood,” that is, the “self,” or “I”, or “me,” and this “self, or I,” has “eternal existence.” As a person, we have “self awareness,” “self determination” and “self expression.”

Personhood has these qualities: individuality, morality and perpetuity. This makes us similar to God in His Personhood. Our “personhood” makes us stand above all other creatures.

We are distinct from all other creation in that we are “spirit” and have “personhood,” and have ability to commune with God, who is “Spirit.”

(John 4:24 KJV) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

(Phil 3:3 KJV) For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

The following scriptures show the expression of “personhood:”(Job 7:11 KJV) Therefore I (Job’s Personhood) will not refrain my mouth(body – Part of Job’s Human Nature); I (Job’s Personhood) will speak in the anguish of my spirit (Part of Job’s Human Nature) ; I (Job’s Personhood) will complain in the bitterness of my soul (Part of Job’s Human Nature).

(Rom 7:15 KJV) For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.(Rom 7:16 KJV) If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.(Rom 7:17 KJV) Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.(Rom 7:18 KJV) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.(Rom 7:19 KJV) For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.(Rom 7:20 KJV) Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.(Rom 7:21 KJV) I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.(Rom 7:22 KJV) For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

8

Page 9: FILE:GOD34A03Notes€¦  · Web view11-A-GAC-3-19-18. The Fall of the Human Race (Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as . by one man sin entered. into the world, and death by sin; and so death

(Rom 7:23 KJV) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.(Rom 7:24 KJV) O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?(Rom 7:25 KJV) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

The I here is Paul’s “personhood” reacting to the “law of sin” that is in his flesh and the “law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.”

Corporeal – “Physical”Along with “personhood” we are distinctly different from God in that we are “corporeal,” or “of a material substance, physical.” That makes us different than God in our created state.

Human Nature:Man has a unique “human nature” as distinct from God’s “Divine nature.” God is “Spirit” and does not have a physical part. (We will discuss the God-Man later.) Our “human nature” provides the means by which our person can express itself and receive impressions in this physical world that we live in. Our Human Nature consists of human body, soul and spirit.

BodyIn the Greek: “Soma”

Body, G4983. soma, so'-mah; from G4982; the body (as a sound whole), used in a very wide application, lit. or fig.:--bodily, body, slave.

With our “body,” we are world conscious. Chart: The Earthly Tabernacle and the Tabernacle of Man

The entrance to our body is our “sense gate” and is made up of five senses: Sight, Smell, Hearing, Taste and Touch.

These senses make us aware of the world around us. They allow us to live in this physical world.

Our bodies are made of dust, so we must partake of the elements that are found in soil to maintain our bodies. We do this through food.

Our body houses our immaterial self, the soul and spirit, so as long as we take care of our bodies, our “self” will remain in this physical world.

When we die, our body returns to dust and awaits the resurrection.(John 5:28 KJV) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, (John 5:29 KJV) And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Our immaterial self, soul and spirit, go to be with the Lord if we have been regenerated.

(2 Cor 5:8 KJV) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Animals and humans have different kinds of flesh. (1 Cor 15:39 KJV) All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

We, animals and humans, are both animated by a “life principal” given by God. Because animals do not have “personhood” such as us, when they die, they die – that is the end.

When we as humans die, our “immaterial self” continues on. Believers go to be with the Lord. Unbelievers go to hell.

SoulIn the Greek: “psuche”

Soul, G5590. psuche, psoo-khay'; from G5594; breath, i.e. (by impl.) spirit, abstr. or concr. (the animal sentient principle only; thus distinguished on the one hand from G4151, which is the rational and immortal soul; and on the other from G2222, which is mere vitality, even of plants: these terms thus exactly correspond respectively to the Heb. H5315, H7307 and H2416):--heart (+ -ily), life, mind, soul, + us, + you.

With our soul, we are self conscious. Chart: The Earthly Tabernacle and the Tabernacle of Man

As part of our human nature, man has a soul. When God created man, He imparted to him the breath of life and he became a living soul.

The soul is that part of the Human Nature that connects the “spirit” to the “body.” Without the “earthly tabernacle” as a type, we would have a difficult time understanding the complexity of the Human Nature.

(Gen 2:7 KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

(Psa 3:2 KJV) Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

(Luke 1:46 KJV) And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

(1 Th 5:23 KJV) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The entrance to the soul is the “will gate.” The “will” is a powerful force and is that power of choice that determined the fall of Lucifer, the fall of the Adam race, and determination by all beings to do and be what they are disposed to do or be.This is the defining principle of “Personhood,” self-determination.

(Lev 17:11 KJV) For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Life, soul, H5315. nephesh, neh'-fesh; from H5314; prop. a breathing creature, i.e. animal or (abstr.) vitality; used very widely in a lit., accommodated or fig. sense (bodily

(Lev 17:14 KJV) For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.

The word “life” is the same as “soul” in the Hebrew.

(Gen 2:7 KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Soul, H5315. nephesh, neh'-fesh; from H5314; prop. a breathing creature, i.e. animal or (abstr.) vitality; used very widely in a lit., accommodated or fig. sense (bodily or mental):--any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, X dead (-ly), desire, X [dis-] contented, X fish, ghost, + greedy, he, heart (- y), (hath, X jeopardy of) life (X in jeopardy), lust, man, me, mind, mortality, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thy-) self, them (your) -selves, + slay, soul, + tablet, they, thing, (X she) will, X would have it.

The immaterial part of man is the combination of the soul and spirit.

The soul plays an important part in the life of our spirit since the entrance to the spirit is also our “will.”

Our “spirit life” then is affected and controlled by our “will.”

The “living soul” seems to be connected to the body through the “blood.”

“Blood” itself is “not the soul,” but it is “the vehicle of the soul.” The soul survives death for it is that part of “personhood” that carries with it intelligence, emotion, and will.

The characteristics, or functions, of the soul, besides being the seat of the will, are: The life force of the body. The seat of the emotions. The seat of the natural intellect like thinking and knowing, our disposition. This is the lower “mind” that guides us and determines our way in the physical world.

SpiritIn the Greek: “pneuma”

Spirit, B4151. pneuma, pnyoo'-mah; from G4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by anal. or fig. a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by impl.) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:--ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Comp. G5590.

With our spirit, we are God conscious.Chart: The Earthly Tabernacle and the Tabernacle of Man

The “breath of God” gave man his spirit and made him a living soul; therefore, man received “personhood.”

(2 Tim 4:22 KJV) The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.Spirit, B4151. pneuma, pnyoo'-mah; from G4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by anal. or fig. a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by impl.) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:--ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Comp. G5590.

The entrance to the spirit is first through the “will gate” of the soul, then, on through the “mind gate” of the spirit.

The characteristics, or functions, of the “spirit” are oriented at a higher level than that of the soul. They are:

Faith, hope, love and worship. The “mind,” with its reasoning, thinking and understanding functions, if regenerated, is directed toward God and becomes spiritual.

If we are not regenerated, our spirit is a vacuum and full of darkness. It is not dead, or non-existent. It is alive but it is “dead to God.” Being a vacuum, it wants to be filled, or satisfied. If we don’t allow the “Spirit of Christ” to fill our spirit, then we are subject to the entrances of the “evil world.”

If we are regenerated, then our “spirit” is oriented toward our maker and creator, God. It is the source of our spiritual life. In the “spirit realm” it has been “conformed to the image of Christ.”

(Rom 8:28 KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.(Rom 8:29 KJV) For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Conformed, G4832. summorphos, soom-mor-fos'; from G4862 and G3444; jointly formed, i.e. (fig.) similar:--conformed to, fashioned like unto.

(1 Cor 6:17 KJV) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

“Trichotomy”We are similar to God in that we are a “trichotomy,” or “we are made up of three parts “body, soul and spirit” just as the “One God” has three persons in the Trinity, “the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

(1 Th 5:23 KJV) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God is a trinity. He is made up of three persons but he is the “One God” in nature. (1 John 5:7 KJV) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

One person of the Godhead cannot exist without the other. If the “Word that became flesh” had failed, the whole Godhead would have failed.

(Deu 6:4 KJV) Hear, O Israel: The LORD (Jehovah) our God (Elohim) is one LORD (Jehovah):

Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the Word of God can divide the “soul” and “spirit.”

12

Page 13: FILE:GOD34A03Notes€¦  · Web view11-A-GAC-3-19-18. The Fall of the Human Race (Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as . by one man sin entered. into the world, and death by sin; and so death

(Heb 4:12 KJV) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

FleshWe don’t have difficulty understanding what “body” means, but flesh can take on a broader understanding. The word “flesh” has different meaning depending upon the scriptural context. The “sin principle” is in our blood which flows through our body and therefore corrupts our “human nature” and influences our “personhood.” In other words, the “I”, the “me,” the “self” can act out the “sin principle” if we “walk in the flesh, (or under control of the flesh).” So, our body, soul and spirit fall within the context of “flesh.”

So, flesh refers to: Our physical structure:

(Rom 7:18 KJV) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

(1 Cor 5:5 KJV) To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Our human nature in contrast to the Divine nature:(Mat 16:17 KJV) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

“Flesh and blood” in contrast to the “spirit” world:(Eph 6:12 KJV) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The sin principle dominating our human nature:(Rom 8:3 KJV) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

flesh, B4561. sarx, sarx; prob. from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e. (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extens.) the body (as opposed to the soul [or spirit], or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by impl.) human nature (with its frailties [phys. or mor.] and passions), or (spec.) a human being (as such):--carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]).

(Rom 8:8 KJV) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.(Rom 8:9 KJV) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

(Eph 2:3 KJV) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

The Sin Principle – the Outer Man, the Old Creation, the First Adam, the First Man, the Old NatureThe “sin principle” is what we inherited from Adam and that flows through our blood. It is the desire to be independent from God and to do that which is contrary to God.

13

Page 14: FILE:GOD34A03Notes€¦  · Web view11-A-GAC-3-19-18. The Fall of the Human Race (Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as . by one man sin entered. into the world, and death by sin; and so death

Other names found in scripture that refer to this “sin principle” are: the Outer Man, the Old Creation, the First Adam, the First Man, the Old Nature.

(2 Cor 4:16 KJV) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

(2 Cor 5:17 KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

(1 Cor 15:45 KJV) And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

(1 Cor 15:47 KJV) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

Our human nature is wholly corrupted by original sin and is bent toward sinning. If we yield ourselves to this principle, we will become its servant and we will sin.

(Rom 6:16 KJV) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?(Rom 6:17 KJV) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.(Rom 6:18 KJV) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.(Rom 6:19 KJV) I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.(Rom 6:20 KJV) For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

The “sin principle” is called the “law of sin.” (Rom 7:23 KJV) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

(Rom 7:25 KJV) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Since sin brought “death” with it, the “sin principle” is called the “law of sin and death.”(Rom 8:2 KJV) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

The body, which is the flesh, contains the “sin principle.” Paul describes this for us.

(Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

(Rom 5:15 KJV) But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Paul identifies where “sin” is:(Rom 7:15 KJV) For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.(Rom 7:16 KJV) If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.(Rom 7:17 KJV) Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.(Rom 7:18 KJV) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.(Rom 7:19 KJV) For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

14

(Rom 7:20 KJV) Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.(Rom 7:21 KJV) I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.(Rom 7:22 KJV) For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:(Rom 7:23 KJV) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.(Rom 7:24 KJV) O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?(Rom 7:25 KJV) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Just look at what our flesh contains:(Gal 5:19 KJV) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness (morally unrestrained, lustful, unclean)(Gal 5:20 KJV) Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance (contentious, quarreling, strife), emulations (jealousy, heated zeal), wrath, strife, seditions (dissension), heresies,(Gal 5:21 KJV) Envyings, murders, drunkenness, reveling (carousing, partying), and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Carnality: “Carnal” means “fleshly,” that is, acting in the realm of the “old creation” and being controlled by the “sin principle” that is in our flesh. This is in contrast to “spiritual” which means to live in the “new creation” under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

(Rom 7:14 KJV) For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.Carnal, G4559. sarkikos, sar-kee-kos'; from G4561; pertaining to flesh, i.e. (by extens.) bodily, temporal, or (by imp.) animal, unregenerate:--carnal, fleshly.

G4561. sarx, sarx; prob. from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e.

(Rom 8:7 KJV) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Carnal, G4561. sarx, sarx; prob. from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e. (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extens.) the body (as opposed to the soul [or spirit], or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by impl.) human nature (with its frailties [phys. or mor.] and passions), or (spec.) a human being (as such):--carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]).Enmity, G2189, echthra, ekh'-thrahFeminine of G2190; hostility; by implication a reason for opposition: - enmity, hatred.

(1 Cor 3:1 KJV) And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

Carnal, G4559. sarkikos, sar-kee-kos'; from G4561; pertaining to flesh, i.e. (by extens.) bodily, temporal, or (by impl.) animal, unregenerate:--carnal, fleshly.

(1 Cor 3:3 KJV) For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?(1 Cor 3:4 KJV) For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Carnal, G4559. sarkikos, sar-kee-kos'; from G4561; pertaining to flesh, i.e. (by extens.) bodily, temporal, or (by impl.) animal, unregenerate:--carnal, fleshly.

15

Page 16: FILE:GOD34A03Notes€¦  · Web view11-A-GAC-3-19-18. The Fall of the Human Race (Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as . by one man sin entered. into the world, and death by sin; and so death

(2 Cor 10:4 KJV) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Carnal, G4559. sarkikos, sar-kee-kos'; from G4561; pertaining to flesh, i.e. (by extend.) bodily, temporal, or (by impl.) animal, unregenerate:--carnal, fleshly.

Paul writes that as regenerated persons we must walk in the “spirit” in the power of the Holy Spirit rather than letting the carnal man dictate to us how to live.

Carnality hinders our growth in the spirit realm. If we neglect our spiritual life, that is studying the Word, praying and living the life, we will come under the control of the sin-principle and it will express itself in our daily life.

Unsaved people are continually carnal, for they are living under the complete domination of Old Creation, which means they are controlled by the flesh.

(Eph 2:3 KJV) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

There is victory over the “flesh” even while the “sin principle” is present. (Rom 8:1 KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.(Rom 8:2 KJV) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (new creation) hath made me free from the law of sin and death (sin principal).(Rom 8:3 KJV) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:(Rom 8:4 KJV) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.(Rom 8:5 KJV) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.(Rom 8:6 KJV) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.(Rom 8:7 KJV) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.(Rom 8:8 KJV) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.(Rom 8:9 KJV) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit (new creation), if so be that the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ (new creation), he is none of his.(Rom 8:10 KJV) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.(Rom 8:11 KJV) But if the Spirit (Holy Spirit) of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.(Rom 8:12 KJV) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.(Rom 8:13 KJV) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

(Rom 13:14 KJV) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

(Gal 5:16 KJV) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Christ was given a “body” that was without sin so that He might be the substitutionary offering for our sins.

16

Page 17: FILE:GOD34A03Notes€¦  · Web view11-A-GAC-3-19-18. The Fall of the Human Race (Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as . by one man sin entered. into the world, and death by sin; and so death

(Heb 10:5 KJV) Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: (Heb 10:10 KJV) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

As believers, our bodies have been bought with a price. They belong to God so we should treat them as God’s property.

(1 Cor 6:19 KJV) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?(1 Cor 6:20 KJV) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Our bodies will be changed when we are resurrected or translated. That is, we will once and for all, have the “sin principle” removed from us. Our bodies will be delivered from the inherent corruption.

(1 Cor 15:50 KJV) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.(1 Cor 15:51 KJV) Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,(1 Cor 15:52 KJV) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.(1 Cor 15:53 KJV) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

(1 Th 4:16 KJV) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (1 Th 4:17 KJV) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

We shall be like Him!(1 John 3:2 KJV) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

The Life Principle – the Inner Man, the New Creation, the Last Adam, the Second Man, the New NatureThe “life principle” is what we receive when we are “born again.” It comes from the “seed that remaineth in you” when you are “born again.”

(1 John 3:9 KJV) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

It is the “law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.”(Rom 8:2 KJV) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

This is in contrast to the “law of sin and death” which is the “sin principle.”

The “life principle” results from “Christ in you, the hope of Glory.” (Col 1:27 KJV) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

It is “summorphos,” or the amalgamation of your spirit and the “Spirit of Christ.”(Rom 8:28 KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

17

Page 18: FILE:GOD34A03Notes€¦  · Web view11-A-GAC-3-19-18. The Fall of the Human Race (Rom 5:12 KJV) Wherefore, as . by one man sin entered. into the world, and death by sin; and so death

(Rom 8:29 KJV) For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Conformed, G4832. summorphos, soom-mor-fos'; from G4862 and G3444; jointly formed, i.e. (fig.) similar:--conformed to, fashioned like unto.

The “Spirit” of the “God-man,” Christ Jesus and our spirit are made “one” when we are regenerated.

(1 Cor 6:17 KJV) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

If we do not have the “Spirit of Christ,” that is, the “Spirit of the God-man,” within us, then we are “none of his,” or, we are not “born again.”

(Rom 8:9 KJV) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit (new creation), if so be that the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ (Spirit of the God-man), he is none of his.

Other names found in scripture that refer to this “life principle” are: the Inner Man, the New Creation, the Last Adam, the Second Man, the New Nature.

(Eph 3:16 KJV) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

(2 Cor 4:16 KJV) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

(2 Cor 5:17 KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

(Gal 6:15 KJV) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

(1 Cor 15:45 KJV) And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

(1 Cor 15:47 KJV) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

The Natural Man – the Spiritual Man – the Mind

The “Natural Man:”The word “natural” refers to that which is produced by “nature.” So, we are naturally, body, soul and spirit. This is the “Human Nature.” It has “senses, intellect, emotions, etc.” and can live in a moral way with their conscience being their guide.

That entity can function in a “normal” way but because of the fall it is separated from God and needs to be “regenerated.”

It can function in a normal fashion in carrying out life’s functions, yet it cannot commune with God unless it is “born again,” that is, become “spiritual.”

(2 Tim 3:3 KJV) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

(Rom 1:26 KJV) For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

18

(Rom 1:27 KJV) And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

(Rom 1:31 KJV) Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

The “natural man” will function in an abnormal way when it comes under the influence of the sin principle and then we have the operation of the “old creation, or old man, or the first Adam.” Man must be “born again” to function as a “spiritual man.”

(1 Cor 2:14 KJV) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Natural, G5591. psuchikos, psoo-khee-kos'; from G5590; sensitive, i.e. animate (in distinction on the one hand from G4152, which is the higher or renovated nature; and on the other from G5446, which is the lower or bestial nature):--natural, sensual.

G4152. pneumatikos, pnyoo-mat-ik-os'; from G4151; non-carnal, i.e. (humanly) ethereal (as opposed to gross), or (daemoniacally) a spirit (concr.), or (divinely) supernatural, regenerate, religious:--spiritual. Comp. G5591.

(1 Cor 15:44 KJV) It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.(1 Cor 15:46 KJV) Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

Scofield writes: “The natural man may be learned, gentle, eloquent, fascinating, but the spiritual content of Scripture is absolutely hidden from him; and the fleshly, or carnal, Christian is able to comprehend only its simplest truths, “milk.”

(1 Cor 3:1 KJV) And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.(1 Cor 3:2 KJV) I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

The “Spiritual Man”The “spiritual man” is only present in “born again” believers. It is the “new man” and “He” must be present to have communion with God. We are called “spiritual” only if we are living after the “new creation” otherwise we are either “not born again” or we are “carnal,” that is, living after the “flesh.”

(1 Cor 2:14 KJV) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.(1 Cor 2:15 KJV) But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.(1 Cor 2:16 KJV) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The “spiritual man” must be “refreshed” everyday so that “He” may grow up and be the “strong man” of the house.
