Meagan Ebersole of ME Photo & Design is one individual who has turned a passion for design and an eye for composition into an investment of equipment, space, and heart. Meagan has transformed a quaint space on South Orange Street into the perfect place for her to capture art through her lens, and you’re the subject.

As a self-taught photographer, Meagan had to push herself extra hard to carve her name into the industry. Leaving a corporate job a few years ago, she applied her digital media arts degree from Moore College of Art & Design and began sharpening her teeth in the photography world as a second shooter for weddings. With an eye for aesthetics and a driving work ethic, it wasn’t long before she owned and operated her own wedding photography business. Hustling extra hours and working for sometimes nothing just to gain experience paid off as people started to take notice of the impressive pictures she constantly churns out.

Now owning her own portrait studio in Media, Meagan continues to flourish with her classic lifestyle portraits of families, children, and pets. But with growth comes a need for help, and luckily Meagan has Bryn, her Studio Manager and Associate Photographer. “There is just so much value with Bryn,” she boasts. “She is the reason everything is able to run as well as it does.” With a talent for capturing images that are timeless, Meagan is developing memories that beg to be framed and displayed forever.

The members of Media Presbyterian Church are deeply involved in the larger community. Working on home repairs for those who “need something to start going right in their life,” cooking meals for the hungry, sewing clothes for children, and even helping build a pediatric hospital in Ghana, Africa—these acts of service are all a part of how this church lives out its mission:

“Committed to serving the Lord, to loving our neighbors.”As Senior Pastor Bill Borror explains, the heart of the gospel is outward focused, and community service is a way that God works through his people. “It is Christ taking our meager, often flawed, attempts to follow him and transforming them into his powerful ‘yes’ to the human race.”

Inside the church walls, this congregation serves its members as well, providing adult education classes, young adult ministry, youth groups, and children’s programs. Something is happening almost every night of the week, and there are opportunities for everyone to get involved, at all stages of life.

This vibrant and loving church, which held its very first service in 1850 on the second floor over John C. Beatty's Dry Goods and Grocery Store, moved to its current location at 30 East Baltimore Avenue in 1855. With its mission of service and long history in the heart of Media, this is a church that knows and loves its community and is ready and willing to invest in its people.

Media Presbyterian Church meets every Sunday morning, with worship times at 8:15, 9:30, and 11:00. The nursery is available for infants and toddlers on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 and 11:00 services.

BILL GROSS WAS PRACTICALLY “BORN MEDIA.” Coming to this town when he was just 10 months old, Bill grew up learning the family trade at his father’s tailor and dry cleaning business.

After serving his country and sacrificing a leg as a young man in World War II, Bill returned home and got right back to work. With a passion for excellence, he opened B. Gross Menswear in 1947, making it one of the longest-standing retail establishments in town.

While men’s fashion has changed over time, one thing that has never changed at B. Gross Menswear is a commitment to quality. Throughout the years, customers not only recognized and appreciated the store’s level of service and attention to detail but also formed genuine friendships with owners Bill and his wife Lorraine.

In addition to their work of running the family business—with Bill at the helm of the menswear store and Lorraine managing the tailor and dry cleaners around the corner—this loving couple raised three children together, all of whom live locally.

After a lifetime of serving Media as a highly involved citizen, Bill was honored with Media’s first Community Service Award in 2011. A natural choice for this award, Bill was a member of the Rose Tree Media School Board for 17 years; he also served in the Rotary Club, helped establish Media’s first newspaper, and raised money for countless charities in the community.

And though the business was passed in 2003 to former employee and friend Bruce Middleman, the legacy of Bill Gross continues to this day. Quality remains a top priority at B. Gross Menswear, even as the store evolves to meet today’s trends. Best known for its wide selection of menswear, ranging from business casual to formal wear, the store has recently expanded to include Per Lei, an upscale women’s apparel boutique.

The Grosses recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Here’s to Bill and Lorraine for setting a great example, in so many ways. When you see them out on a Friday night, be sure to stop them and thank them for their investment in our community.
