How did you attract/address your audience?

I thought the best way to attract and address my audience was to use traditional ways similar to

other R&B genre magazines.

Going back to my Questionnaire I asked people what type of things they would like to see in a R&B genre magazine such as what content and colours so I felt like this gave me a heads up on ways to attract a audience by putting in the magazine what they wanted to see and read.

One of the conventions which I have kept the same was the theme of the colours. I decided to keep the colours throughout my magazine very bold and solid, using black, purples and white. This was also the outcome of what the people I asked in my questionnaire.

I attracted my main audience by the images in my magazine. As I felt these images challenged the conventions of the R&B genre magazine but attracted a good audience. I decided to use direct address as this would attract my audience because it is showing eye contact. This typical convention was used in many of the other R&B genre magazines I was looking at during my research and planning. I also used a verity of different camera angles and shot types so all the images didn’t look the same.

When I began this project I decided to follow a magazine that was in the R&B genre. This was so I could follow the conventions and also follow magazines are the most popular and have the best layout. The magazine I decided to use for inspiration was ‘Vibe’.
