Gospel Reflection We can be sure that Peter remembered the scene in today's
gospel story as clearly as Isaiah recalled his own vision of God. Even though Simon is convinced that there
are no fish available, he tells Jesus, "At your command, I will lower the nets." His trust is rewarded not only
by a huge catch of fish, but by Jesus' call to become a disciple. Peter, James, and John, overwhelmed by the presence of Jesus, drop everything and follow Him.

Today (Sunday) we will listen to Bishop Weisenburger’s
message about the Catholic Community Annual Appeal
that is kicking off this week. You will soon be receiving
a letter from Bishop Weisenburger inviting you to make
a gift to the Catholic Community Annual Appeal. This
year’s theme is Open the Door to Mercy. Please
prayerfully consider supporting the work of the Church
throughout our Diocese as you reflect on your many
blessings.
VFW Stars N Stripes Breakfast, Sunday, February 14th,
7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Take your sweetheart out for a
great breakfast and also help send children to summer
DREAM camp. Menu: Pancakes, sausage, bacon,
scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits, gravy toast, orange
juice and coffee. ALL YOU CAN EAT! Adults $7.50;

Rally for Religious Freedom: The Catholic Bishops of
Kansas and others concerned about the future of religious
freedom will be hosting a Rally for Religious Freedom on
Feb. 17, from noon to 1pm, inside the Kansas State Capitol
Building under the dome. A large turnout is strongly
encouraged to demonstrate to Kansas lawmakers that
support for religious freedom in Kansas is strong. Let’s
make this as successful as the rally in 2012, which garnered
national attention and was broadcast live on EWTN. We
will have outstanding speakers including Ryan Anderson of
the Heritage Foundation. I will hope to see you there!

February 8, is the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita, a
Sudanese girl who was enslaved at the age of 7 and named
Bakhita, “Fortunate One”, by her captor. She experienced
the physical and moral humiliations of slavery. St. Bakhita,
canonized in 2000, is considered the patroness of
kidnapped and trafficked children. Pray to St. Bakhita to
protect children, especially those who are exploited for sex
or labor. For prayer resources, visit
sistersagainsttrafficking.org. Ending Slavery is everyone’s
work.
