NEW DEVOTIONAL CANDLE HOLDER. This is

to encourage all who wish to light a Candle in honor of

Sacred Heart or to pray for a particular favor. There

are two candle light holders. One is electronic while

the new one uses wax candle. A $1.00 donation is a

suggested donation per candle lit. May the Sacred

Heart of Jesus bless all who honor him and may

Immaculate Heart of Mary intercede for us all. Amen.

THE CARDINAL’S ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP

APPEAL: This year 2018, the Cardinal’s Annual

Stewardship Appeal Goal of our Parish is $17,000.00.

So far $6,844.00 has been raised out of $7,084.00

pledges. I wish to encourage every parishioner to

please respond to the Cardinal’s Annual

Appeal. Remember that Renew + Rebuild pledge

which parishioners made is a five year program

while the Cardinal’s Annual Appeal is yearly. The

faithful of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church you

Un tema recurrente en el mensaje de Jesús es el de

rendir todo a Dios. Tres ejemplos son: "Bajé del cielo,

no para hacer mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que me

envió". "Avanzó un poco y se postró en oración,

diciendo:" Padre mío, si es posible. deja que esta copa

pase de mí; sin embargo, no como lo haré, sino como

quiera '", y el tercero es probablemente más familiar

para nosotros porque cuando Jesús enseñó el

Padrenuestro oramos," Hágase tu voluntad ". En el

Evangelio de este fin de semana, Jesús instruye a los

discípulos. que uno debe dejar sus posesiones atrás. En

cierto sentido, él está diciendo que no pienses en las

posesiones, piensa en servir al Señor. Esto refleja el

primero de los grandes mandamientos que Jesús nos

da: "Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con

toda tu alma y con toda tu mente". Jesús no está

buscando seguidores a medias, sino solo aquellos que

tienen el deseo de abrazarlo de todo corazón.

Jesús les dice a sus discípulos esto mientras les da

instrucciones antes de enviarlos a ministrar. Él no solo

les está dando la misión de predicar el arrepentimiento

y expulsar demonios, sino que también les está dando

una lección muy básica sobre el costo del discipulado.

Ser un Discípulo de Jesús cuesta todo lo que tenemos.

No hay lugar para el discípulo de la tienda del dólar, o

un discípulo con cupones que le permitirá guardar

algo. Para ser un discípulo de Jesús uno debe estar

dispuesto a rendirse todo al Señor. Él es muy particular

acerca de esto, "no lleven nada para el viaje sino un

bastón, sin comida, sin saco, sin dinero en sus

cinturones". Este abandono de nuestro corazón, nuestra

voluntad y nuestra mente debe hacerse libremente, por

Dios no puede obligarnos a rendirnos. Él instruye,

alienta e invita, pero siempre existe la libertad de

contenerse.

A través de nuestro bautismo y confirmación, estamos

llamados a asumir la misión de Cristo. Es la misión

que vemos en el Evangelio hoy cuando Jesús envía a

los Apóstoles a ministrar de dos en dos. Es la misión

que Jesús da a los Apóstoles los Discípulos y la Iglesia

en el Evangelio de Mateo en la Ascensión: "Id, pues, y

haced discípulos a todas las naciones, bautizándolos en

el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo ...

"Esta es nuestra misión y nos preparamos mejor

cuando nos rendimos cada vez más a nosotros mismos

y recibimos a Cristo cada vez más en nuestras vidas.

A reoccurring theme in the message of Jesus is that of

surrendering all to God. Three examples are: “I came down

from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one

who sent me.” , “He advanced a little and fell prostrate in

prayer, saying, ‘“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup

pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.’” and the

third is probably most familiar to us in that when Jesus

taught the Lord’s Prayer we pray, “thy will be done.”In the

Gospel this weekend Jesus instructs the disciples that one

must leave your possessions behind. In a sense he is saying

not to think about possessions, think about serving the

Lord. This reflects the first of the great commandments that

Jesus gives us, “You shall love the Lord your God with all

your heart, with all your soul and all your mind.”. Jesus is

not seeking half-hearted followers, but only those who have

the desire to wholeheartedly embrace him.

Jesus tells his disciples this as he gives them instructions

before sending them out to minister. He is not only giving

them the mission of preaching repentance and casting out

demons, he is also giving them a very basic lesson on the

cost of discipleship. To be a Disciple of Jesus costs all that

we have. There is not room for the dollar store disciple, or a

disciple with coupons that will allow him to save

something. To be a disciple of Jesus one must be willing to

surrender all to the Lord. He is very particular about

this, “take nothing for the journey but a walking stick – no

food, no sack, no money in your belts.” This giving up of

our heart, our will and our mind is to be done freely, for

God cannot force us to surrender. He instructs, encourages

and invites, but there is always the freedom to hold back.

Through our Baptism and Confirmation we are called to

take on the mission of Christ. It is the mission we see in the

Gospel for today as Jesus sends out the Apostles to minister

two by two. It is the mission Jesus gives to the Apostles the

Disciples and the Church in Matthew’s Gospel at the

Ascension, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all

nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of

the Son, and of the Holy Spirit…” This is our mission and

we prepare best for it when we surrender more and more of

ourselves and welcome Christ more and more into our lives.
