1. About IGIDR

The Institute is located on a 14-acre site on a hillside in Goregaon (east), 15 minutes by public bus

from the Goregaon railway station in Mumbai’s suburban rail system and 20 minutes drive from

Mumbai’s national and international airports. The campus, whose architecture is inspired by the

historical Elephanta and Jogeshwari caves, includes office buildings for research and administrative

staff, several seminar rooms, a 500-seat auditorium, a library, a computer centre, a cafeteria and a

guesthouse where visiting scholars are accommodated.

There are also some recreational facilities, which include a 20-meter swimming pool, a tennis court,

an indoor badminton court, a table tennis room, a small jogging track, a fully equipped weight-

training centre, and a children's park at the Institute.

2. How to Reach IGIDR

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is situated in the Western suburbs of

Mumbai, at Goregaon East, just next to Film city.

� FROM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Route from International Airport to IGIDR (Annexure A)

The distance between IGIDR and International Airport is about 12 kms. You can hire a

PREPAID TAXI (fixed cost to be paid upfront on the booking counters meant for the purpose

at the airport itself). You can find the prepaid Radio taxi kiosk inside the airport premises.

We recommend taking Meru cab service (022-44224422) or Tab Cab (022-63636363). Moreover,

we strongly recommend you to avoid private taxi operators outside the airport.

� FROM DOMESTIC AIRPORT

Route from Domestic Airport to IGIDR (Annexure B)

The domestic airport is around 13 kms from IGIDR campus. You can hire a PREPAID TAXI

(fixed cost to be paid upfront on the booking counters meant for the purpose at the airport

itself). You can find the prepaid Radio taxi kiosk inside the airport premises.

� FROM RAILWAY STATIONS

Bombay Central

This is the terminal station for most of the Western Railway Trains. Distance from IGIDR to

Bombay Central station is around 22 kms. You can either take a LOCAL TRAIN and get

down at Goregaon East Station OR hire a taxi to take you to IGIDR Campus. If you are

coming by the local train, you can take a bus (number 343) from Goregaon East Station

and get down at Santosh Nagar bus stop. You can also hire an auto rickshaw or taxi from

Goregaon East Station to IGIDR.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST)

This is the terminal station for most of the Central Railway Trains.

Distance from IGIDR to CST is around 30 kms. You can either take a LOCAL TRAIN and get

down at Goregaon East station OR hire a taxi to take you to IGIDR Campus.

Dadar

This is the Common Junction for both Central and Western Railway Trains. Distance from

IGIDR to Dadar station is around 18 kms. You can either take a LOCAL TRAIN and get down

at Goregaon East station OR hire a taxi to take you to IGIDR Campus.

3. Accommodation and Food

IGIDR Guest House is located on the IGIDR campus. Guesthouse accommodation will be provided as

per the information furnished by you in the registration form. Please be sure your check-in and

check-out time coincides with the information provided to IGIDR.

At the time of arriving at IGIDR from the airport, please collect your guest room key from the

Reception Desk in the Guest House.

The keys will be available with Mr. Neeraj (Supervisor) during the daytime or with Mr. Karan

(night attendant). Please make entries in the guesthouse register at the time of check-in and

checkout.

In general, outside the conference days, breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner will be available in the

dining hall, and one may get breakfast and snacks in the cafeteria.

For drinking water, aquaguards are installed at different places in the guesthouse and other areas.

4. Registration / Conference Sessions

All participants are to report to the registration desk at Seminar Room 1, IGIDR. Registration desk

will be open on December 18, 2013 [9 a.m. – 10 a.m.].

5. Reimbursement

Please preserve your boarding pass for reimbursement. Travel forms will be available at the

registration counter, which may be filled in and submitted at the counter along with your boarding

pass.

6. Computer Facilities

• Wireless access from your laptop is available in the guesthouse. Select the connection

labeled Ruckus Test on your wireless networks list. The password for this network is

ruckus@123.

• To access the internet go to any website and you will be directed to Cyberroam Captive

Portal. This will ask for a Username and Password. Kindly find these below:

• Internet access user name : igiguest; Password: gi2013*

7. Taxi Service

The security staff (28416311/312) at the main gate will be able to help you in case you need a taxi

or call tel. no. 022-44224422 (MERU taxi) or 022-63636363 (Tab Cab).

8. Bank and currency Information

There is an ATM just outside the Institute compound wall (near Santosh nagar depot) where an

ATM card can be used to withdraw money. ATMs of several banks (State Bank of India, Citibank,

HDFC, ICICI etc.) are also located in the Gokuldham/Dindoshi area near the institute.

INDIAN CURRENCY

The Indian Currency is known as Rupee (written as Rs. or ).

Foreign delegates can get exchange on arrival at the airport or at any Bank in the city.

Please do not take any exchange from any unauthorized person.
