PROGRAM
Department of Public Administration:
The Department of Public Administration (DPA) is one of the reputable departments of University of Karachi, distinguishing itself with an ongoing series of academic and extra-
academic activities to groom the connoisseurs of tomorrow in both, the public and private
sector.
DPA offers various degree programs to the valuable youth as well as professionals. Thecurriculum equips our students with full confidence and proficiency to respond to today’s
highly competitive market in the field of Human Resource Management, Marketing,
Finance, Developmental Strategies and MIS.
Gen M:
Generation M also known as ‘Gen M’, the Marketing Society of our Department formed in
January 2007, is not just a society, but a generation in itself, a generation of new breed of marketers with fresh legs and hot blood, passionate to radically change the paradigms of
existing marketing practices through their out of the box concept and with the claim
“Marketing is our realm”.
Outline of Marketing Projects:
“Generation M” along with all the marketing students under the guidance of Ms. Saima
Akhtar, Lecturer of Marketing, is bringing yet another chapter of the annual marketingmela “Marketing Fiesta 2008”. The event is planned to be on 23rd-24th April from
10:00am-6:00pm incorporating multiple intellectual, physical and fun activities. The
number of visitors and participants would exceed 3000 including students, faculty
members, outsiders, some corporate guests and various media representatives.
This fiesta has been arranged in order to provide a platform for the students of marketing to
personally experience the practical world in the familiar premises. They have been assigned
with the team project to launch a product with focus on and proper management of four Ps
of marketing, namely Product, Price, Place and Promotion amongst the projectedcompetitive environment.
We are expecting various leading brands to join in and make our efforts productive. It will
compliment their image building efforts and also acknowledge their interest & noble causeof academic and professional enhancement in the country.

Generation M Marketing Fiesta-2008: The Orientation
There are namely four zones in this fiesta:
Food Zone:
The food zone consists of different food stalls set-up by of the students and some leading
brands like KFC, German Bakery, Pizza One, Walls, to attract a great number of
customers.
Game Zone:
This zone encompasses different games on stalls setup by the students of the department.
GenM Zone:
This zone is the hub of the Marketing Fiesta 2008 and is generation M’s grotto that aims at
assembling various marketing activities of the students, for the students & by the students.
This zone uses a multi pronged attitude by putting together marketing students’ businessideas, charity for under-privileged, a mental & physical activity “genM I AM THE BEST
race 2K8”, a Weirdo Fun Auction and what not.
Learning Zone:
The learning zone works in line with the vision of GenM to foster and bolster the
knowledge of students regarding the latest happening in the marketing field with theseminars, workshops, brainstorming sessions and marketing interventions. Some
professionals from the field are called up for one-to-one interaction with the participants.
Students will also be acquainted with latest books and facts on marketing.
