I’ve been through a lot of educational field trip ever since I was a kid.

And every single one of those field trip are the same. All those educational

field trip are pretty lame but still quite enjoyable. I say lame because all

the educational field trip i’ve ever been turns out to be a tour to a very

feeble company, though sometimes those feeble company are quite

amazing because the person who rove us through the company’s facility

are just hands down mind - blowing. But I did say quite enjoyable only be-

cause the people that I am with during all those educational trip are those

people who I truly enjoy the pleasure of their company. But I can fathom

all the reason of touring with all those futile company before because I am

unscholarly back then. All I want to do before was to enjoy, to be happy

and to make all the memories that I can treasure.

Fast forward to my life today. I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering

student at University if Batangas. I think I am a different person now be-

cause all I think of now is my future. All I care now is to work on my way to

be employed to a very successful and well-known company. And the mo-

ment that I’ve heard we are having an educational field trip, I kind of get

excited but there is a fear again that this trip might follow the trend of my

past educational field trips. I want to have a very tuitional and advanta-

geous trip this time. I don’t want to waste my money to a very thwarting

trip to a very unprofitable company. But I think I got the assurance right

away from our professor that this trip is gonna be miles better. I just

thought to myself that this trip should be better because we’re not kids

anymore, we demand value and illumination with a little bit of fun.

So I paid the amount needed to join the planned educational field trip

with a little resentment because I think the price is beyond what I expect

it to be all the things considered. But I am hoping right then that this trip

might be a really good and purely scholar trip because for the first time I

have to join an educational field trip that doesn't include Star City, En-

chanted Kingdom or any amusement park to its itinerary.

When the day of the said educational field trip came, I am quite tired

because we had a very rough day before the field trip but I still wake my-

self up at a very early hour just to be in the venue at the required time of

departure. But right at the moment of my arrival, I saw my classmates

outside the bus. I am quite disappointed because what I feared just hap-

pened. This trip is not different, It happens all the time. So yeah, it turns

out to be a quite late departure. The bad thing is that we are the only stu-

dents who wait outside the bus which is not so nice considering that we

are the tired ones who had a 9 PM class the day before the trip. But we

just follow everything that the people with authority says even if we’re not

that happy about it.

We had a rough start for this field trip but I am still hoping that the ta-

ble might turn and this trip will be better within a few hours. We are all

asleep up in the bus because we are truly tired and we catch up to have a

very sound sleep. It’s already 9 AM when I realised that the tour guide

that we have in our bus is really useless. I mean we pay for him and he

never do what he is intended to do. Though I forgive him for the first mo-

ment because maybe, just maybe, he understand that we are all tired to

listen to anything he has to say. So I give him that but I am expecting that

at late afternoon he can or will start to do that job of a tour guide but he

never did, so that’s disappointing.

We reach the first itinerary at a very late hour. The company was

Grandspan Development Corporation. I’m not that excited about it be-

cause I just don’t feel excited about it. The moment I walk into the room

where we are given some information about the tour and the company I

got super bored. I mean the speaker is not that good and all that he says

is really so-so. Again I try to understand that he may be up to something

and I am just hoping that the main tour to the plant can be of any good.

But again I am disappointed with the tour to the plant mainly because of

the speaker again. The vibe inside the plant was perfect and the people

who are working simultaneously are amazing. But the speaker says every-

thing and he didn't made an effort to bring his voice into an audible level

for a group of 50 students. So yes, the people who are very close to him

during the tour are just the people who are able to discern so much infor-

mation about the plant. But that’s okay for myself because my eyes gave

me the advantage to observe and take all the information I wanted to.

My second gripe about the 1st company was that they treat us like

some students to whom they are doing a really really big favor. I mean I

think with the amount we’ve paid for this trip, we deserve a very very in-

tensive and energetic tour.

So we went to some place near the Avilon Zoo to eat some lunch and

to hurry ourselves so we can make it to the second company at a very ex-

peditious time. So we just hurry ourselves and we don’t really enjoy the

lunchtime because it was a very quick and very speedy lunch with our

friends. It’s okay because we did this field trip to learn not to eat lunch.

We start the journey right away to the next company: PR GAZ. It just

a short time before we arrived at a quite impressive plant with some big

cylindrical metal shell that are quite a looker. That moment that I discern

that this company is not so subject - related, our subject that require this

trip is Materials Engineering. But anyways, I think I just expect something

more than this that I get upset about it. I ignore that feeling for a moment

as we enter the conference room of the company. The conference room

was really nifty. It makes me feel like I’m in a corporate meeting or some

sort of like that. I feel something good about this company at last. When

the spokesperson of the company started speaking I felt happiness be-

cause all the words that came off his mouth is really good words. He told

about some customer related things and actually I find those things very

interesting and very promising for a company to care so much about their

customers. I am really happy for the discussion we had with the

spokesperson of PR GAZ. It was a really good talk and it makes me happy.

The conference at PR GAZ was so good that it made me feel so ex-

cited about the plant visit. So we get up and we wore the necessary safety

equipments and we walk into the plant. It was a very small plant and I

think PR GAZ truly maximise their place. The workers at PR GAZ never

stops working even if we’re there, which is nice because we truly see the

process. The only thing that stops me from enjoying the moment is the

strong and pester whiff of the gas that is all around the place. I know that

its just me but to be honest I really don't like the whiff around the place, I

can’t take so much up of it because it makes me feel bad and quite dizzy.

But overall I think PR GAZ was a great choice to visit although until now I

can’t see the relevance to our subject of that company. That was my one

and only gripe about PR GAZ. It is a great company with great people but

if we are truly being honest we can see that materials engineering is far

related to PR GAZ, but thermodynamics is so it’s quite gratifying.

All in all if I’m going to rate this educational field trip from 10 being

the highest and 1 being the lowest, I think I’m giving this trip a solid 6.

The trip never really justified the price of it and I’m disappointed because

my expectations for this field trip was really high and what I got is a field

trip that fall short of being spectacular. I can say the most of my satisfac-

tion and happiness are made inside the bus with my friends. The learnings

I got in the companies are a little bit disappointing because as I’ve said I

was expecting more from them. This field trips was not different from

other field trip I’ve ever been. No, actually this is quite a fall down. My

past field trip has some amusement parks at the end and I think that re-

ally changes everything. All the disappointments I got from the companies

I’ve ever been into are overshadowed by the happiness I had at some

amusement parks. I know and I understand that we are not some

teenagers who needs to enjoy ourselves but I think with such expense, an

amusement park will truly made us forget that everything was short to our

expectations. But It’s just me, I think we can make or plan for a better

field trip in the coming years since we have 2 - 3 years to enjoy together. I

think we need to plan to visit some truly big companies who are know to

our field and to see some actions that we are hungry for.

As I’ve said, this field trip is not so different from other field trips I’ve

ever had if we consider the companies that we visited. It’s different in a

way that we never had some amusement parks to enjoy. And different

doesn't guarantee better but it’s a necessary step. So I think we just need

to work on the companies we plan to visit later to make everything miles

better.
