A recently paroled conman is forced to run a criminals-to-work program

    while planning a major heist.

    Synopsis

Fibs is a comedy about a man who can't stop making bad choices. Even with two convictions

on his sheet and a tenuous early-parole offer Fibs just can't seem to go straight. !his need to "chasethe score# is further e$asperated when he's shackled with a good-natured but dim-witted partner and a

%-to-& job that has a reuirement not even he can scam his way out of( bureaucratic paperwork.

Every week Fibs will have his black market skill-set tested as he applies it to helping down-on-

their-luck cons gain employment and security in the real world. )ittle do they know that their savior is

actually planning on using them as unwitting pawns to pull off the heist of a lifetime.

*hile she show features a new person in need every week the show will grow to an ensemblecast by the end of the season. Each person and every plotline will play a role in the final theft.

    Style and Tone

+uch like the titular character himself FI, will walk the line between dark comedy andearnest moments of genuine humanity. !he comedy comes from the vast distance between what Fibs

wants and how he's used to getting it. e's a man who's used to working alone and in the shadows.

From the first episode on he'll be center-stage and surrounded by others.

!he tone of the show will shift depending on which world Fibs is closest to. /rison wage-slave

or master thief with the majority of comedic moments coming from his "day job.#

*ork scenes will evoke a feeling of ensemble comedies like 0o 1n or 23 4ock while long term

scams will feature a more comple$ theme such as !he *rong +ans ,urn 5otice or +y 5ame is Earl.

erious and emotionally deep moments will occur when Fibs has to face off against his choices ordecide whether or not to sacrifice a cog in his machine to help a schmoe out.

6ltimately the people that Fibs helps either with a motive or selflessly will be better off andhappier as they reappear later. 4edemption and rehabilitation will be looked at honestly.

    Main Characters

Fibonacci (Fibs) Strauss- A man in his 23'783's who's already done two e$tended stints in

prison. e's Ferris ,ueller without the boyish charm and good luck. e's Frank 1cean without the

ambition or friends. e's a league ahead of your average criminal but is too smart and too mouthy forhis own good. e has to prepare and become the persona of a con-man in order to convince and sweet

talk. If you catch him off-guard he's bound to be more insulting and demeaning than any thug you run

into. e'd be a hell of a guy if he wasn't burdened by insecurity greed and a need to prove himself.

Tom Mills A somewhat younger man than Fibs 9:3s723s; who is honest and kind soul

Fibs promises them the money with interest and intends to deliver.

    !pisode ,ist

-ilot Fibonacci trauss signs up to be a "!ransition pecialist# for a pilot program called

=ons-to-*ork. ,ecause of his record and the scrutiny placed on this program Fibs agrees to bereincarcerated if he doesn't maintain a certain level of job placement and client satisfaction while also

agreeing waive his =onstitutional rights and be monitored at all times. e jumps at a deal that nobody

else wants because he hid stolen money in something called a "digital currency# that has dramaticallyincreased in value during his arrest.

,ecause of this investment Fibs is walking out of the pen worth nearly : million dollars assoon as he can get his hands on a disk and pass it to his lawyer7partner-in-crime. !he most anyone

thinks Fibs is worth is around 3333.33 the money from his last job that was never recovered. e

plans to pay off the victims of his last fraud with interest buy his e$ something nice to say he's sorry

and generally make things right before leaving the country never to be seen from again.

!he "money# was kept on a floppy disk in ugh Backman's office. *hen Fit? goes to pick it up

Backman leans of this wealth his partner has. e also reali?es that because the money is currently"digitial# and unregulated that nothing is stopping him from stealing it moving it and having that be

untracable in every way. e outright informs Fibs that he will be stealing the money because he knows

that if Fibs so much as throws a punch on camera he's going back to jail for the ne$t decade and has norecourse to the money.

Fibs resigns himself to working the day job long enough to steal the money back. e

immediately raises the suspicions of 1lsen who decides to give him an impossible case to start off withto rid herself of him. !he good-natured but impossibly slow !om +ills. Fibs works the system from

every angle to get get !om employed but nobody will touch him given his clumsy demeanor and

    criminal record.

At the @@thhour Fibs finds a suitable job for !om a security guard for a warehouse that holds

nothing. owever !om who has reali?ed that Fibs is a man with a plan and someone he both enjoysand emulates shows sudden growth by demanding that they work together. *hen Fibs refuses !om

politely points out that all he has to do is not take the job or get fired and Fibs will go back to prison.

Fibs reali?es that he has been talking openly and directly about his criminal plans to !om

because he didn't see him as a threat. e looks to the abandoned warehouse the security gig and the

ability to hide !om in plain sight and reali?es he's going to need help to con his old partner.

-lay. % -lay /ithin a -lay * Fibs' first real job placement comes in the challenge of a female

convict who caught the acting bug behind bars. Although she is tall muscular and uncooth she thinksshe's destined to be a star due to rave reviews for her performance in A treetcar 5amed Cesire 9she

played tanley;. he refuses any and all efforts to be placed elsewhere.

Fibs teaches !om the way the central premise of a con. First you have to appear to want

nothing. !hen you have to appear to want something other than what you want. ow the smartest

person in the world is the person you're conning and if you let them know that you believe that they'll

In order to get the job done on time Fibs has to mend the bridge between the two forcing !om

to step up and play an academic fellow to get the intel and information needed to bury the hatchet. Fibs

will be unable to go both due to the time restraint but also his monitoring bracelet. e coaches !om as

best he can and sends him off to the first day of school.

!om glides through the Ivory !ower his naturally dense and opaue state making him invisible

to teachers. e gets the information easily and feels like he missed his calling.

!he lesson Fibs relays in this episode is how to make someone hear what you want them to hear

but saying what they say back to them as people find it difficult to disagree with themselves. !hislesson is used not only to put down the feud and get them men employed but also to cover Fibs tracks

with =amille and get the job orders rubber stamped for two different dates within the beaucracy.

!he overarching story is mostly put on the sideline as it's conveyed that this episode is designed

to buy time for a job.

-lay. ate !om and Fibs help a woman get adjusted at a personals agency by throwingthemselves into the dating pool and dragging =amille and Amanda with them. Fibs sees the chance to

distract =amille and uses Amanda's cyber-skills to set her up with the perfect match only to have the

    algorhythm used against him.

!he dating comes to a head when Fibs reali?es he has feelings for a co-worker but runs into his

e$ before he can act on them.

!he overarching plot is furthered by Evie reali?ing Fibs is planning another score and can now

    blackmail him. +eanwhile the

Fibs will use every character that could be assumed to be a "one-off# in other shows in the

finale. e will successfully pull of the heist and become a very rich man while e$acting vengeance and

doing so in a way that makes certain he can't go to prison 9while sending ugh Backman down the

    river;.

owever at the last minute Fibs shows that he hasn't really learned the lesson at all. e's

willing to turn his back on his true calling his new friends and his stable life that has repaired therelationships with his parents and e$. !he money is just too tempting and he decides to leave the

country and never come back. As he's ready to walk out the door a notification comes in that all the

"digital currency# has been drained from the account the team just stole.

Fibs has been betrayed by one of his co-conspirators. e's got even less than when he walked

out the prison with. And now he has to figure out what comes ne$t.

    Future Seasons and Maretability

,ecause Fibs is balanced in three different story-sets the possibilites for future story arcs isfantastic. e can continue to fail upwards gaining more responsibility with a larger public eye upon

him and more people in on his secrets all while having him help out a lost soul every week to keep him

    grounded.

eason : would be much more fast paced due to the plot characters setting and theme already

set in place. Instead of a single long-con in mind Fibs and the crew would try and get the money fromseason @ back and would need to do several large jobs to make that happen. If season @ could be

compared to a classic heist movie like the original Italian Bob or /elham @:2 season : would be

analogous to 1cean's @:. )ots of targets time sensitivity and an increased element of danger. In the

end the team makes money but not enough to retire and the focus shifts to keeping everyone out ofprison.

eason 2 would find Fibs promoted to a higher office within the program 9now being madepolicy;. ,ecause he is now responsible for the stats of the organi?ation as a whole he has to become

even more hands-on and engaged to bolster stats. !here would be a mirror between him being the boss

both inside and outside of the day job and how he can't be master of both worlds. !his leads to adeeply divided team with shifted interests and the schism would be played to ma$imum effect.

Future seasons would include Fibs becoming the whipping boy of an ambitious and amoralpolitician 9but I repeat myself; flailing through the morass of industrial espionage and lobbyism and

dealing with hardened and violent criminals that will put his code of ethics to the test.

,ecause so much of the first season is based around money that's locked in a computer accountmerchandise oppurtunities are readily appearent. 6niue looking 6,-drives indles and other sleek

electronics can be featured prominently. 1nce the crew has funds they could use services like Ama?on

/rime Air to deliver a crucial widget to a plan at the last second. A blend of technology and physicalitems will be needed to secure targets and win the day.

In addition to physical items the crew will also have to dress up in uniue looking outfitsoperate fake companies and generally invent entire brands. *hichever of these brands slogans or

designs resonate with the audience would be easy to reproduce as show-specific merchandise.
