FI02 Case Study
We helped a mine save $2M in capital in just six months
For a particular mining client, a lack of insight
regarding their fuel consumption was leading to
them holding more inventory than they actually
needed. The client had no timely or accurate data
on their fuel consumption levels, stock, or fuel
deliveries, and therefore had no way of determining
exactly how much fuel inventory was required.
To avoid any outages, they were consistently
purchasing and storing more than necessary. >>
Problem:
We helped a mine save $2M in capital in just six monthsFI02 Case Study 2
The client lowered their day tank holdings from
11ML to 9ML in the first six months of the project,
improving their cash position by a very impressive
AUD$2M.
The quality of the AdaptFMS data allowed the
client to optimise their inventory, hold less fuel,
and reduce the risk of outages through the use of
accurate, real time data.
Solution: Benefit:
By installing FluidIntel’s AdaptFMS at the client’s
site, we were able to provide the client with far
greater insight and control.
We installed tank gauging on the client’s
mine site, and connected this to our real time
reporting software. The gauges collect very
specific tank volume data, and communicate
directly with our AdaptFMS system, enabling the
client to easily determine their fuel tank storage
volumes at any time.
Due to the reliability and accuracy of this data,
the client was able to identify the exact fuel
volumes they needed on site. As a result, they
asked their fuel supplier to keep their tank levels
within an optimal volume band, enabling a return
of 15% of fuel volume to the depot. By holding
less fuel on site, capital was freed up for other
uses, without affecting buffer volume availability
for emergencies.
