ExecutiveSummaryThis deliverable is complementary to D1.2 FI-IMPACT Communication andDissemination during Reporting Period 2. It focuses primarily on summarising thedissemination undertaken of FI-IMPACT FIWARE Success Stories and ImpactAssessment.FI-IMPACTprepared73FIWAREProfilesand18FIWARECaseStudiesfordisseminationto raise awareness of the variety of businesses, innovativeproducts and services thathavereceivedsupportunderFI-PPPPhase3andtheFIWAREAccelerationProgramme.The methodology undertaken to select success stories (profiles and case studies) incooperationwithAcceleratorsisoutlinedinD3.3.In terms of impact assessment, FI-IMPACT started from the largest possible group ofprojects and defined metrics to assess the potential of the sub grantees of the 16accelerator projects. These were first assessed through a survey approach under thelightof innovation,businesspotential, sustainabilityandmarketneeds fulfillment.WeassociatetechnicalsuitabilitydatafromareviewoftheFICOREprojectandabusinessfocus survey from Accelerator mentors lead by FIWARE Press Office. From this wecreated the analytical models described in Workpackage 2 and provided the firstDeliverableD2.3,which described the potential economic fallout of the portfolio, andlaterDeliverableD2.4whichreassessedthemodelsandaddedadditionalimpactfactorsincludingtheoccupationalfalloutanddetailscenarios.Furtheringthistask,weselecteda long list of 88 high potential initiatives and later reduced these to a list of 18 casestudies10ofwhichwerechosenthroughexpertanalysisandclusteringtobepromotedasFIWARESuccessStories.Thisdeliverabledescribesthemechanismsweusedtocarryoutthatdissemination.ArangeofcomplementarydisseminationchannelswereleveragedincludingFI-IMPACTwebsite, social media, nanosites, FIWARE Channels, workshops, webinars, audioconferencesandface-to-facemeetingstodisseminatetheresultstotheintendedtargets.Thisdeliverabledescribestheactionstakentodisseminateimpactanalysisandsuccessstories.DisclaimerThis document may contain material, which is the intellectual property of a FI-Impactcontractor. 1. ObjectivesThis deliverable, which is complementary to D1.2, summarizes dissemination andcommunicationactivitiesoftheImpactAssessmentandtheSuccessStories.

1.1. DocumentOrganization

Thedeliverableisdividedintothreesections.Thissectionprovidesanoverviewofthemethodologyfollowedandthedocumentstructure.Section2outlinesdisseminationoftheImpactAssessment.SectionthreeoutlinesthedisseminationmechanismsleveragedforFIWAREsuccessstories.ThedocumentalsocontainsthematerialsdisseminatedviatheFIWARENanosite.

1.1. MethodologyemployedTheapproachesused to communicate the success stories and the ImpactAssessment,althoughcorrelated, targetslightlydifferentstakeholders.Disseminationof the ImpactAssessmentwasprimarilygearedtowardstheEuropeanCommission,policymakersintheEU,the16Acceleratorprojects,thefundedsub-granteesandtheFI-PPPcommunity.To this extent the single stakeholders were identified and deliverables were sentdirectly targeting these stakeholders, presentations of findings and infographicswerecarriedoutwithadirectapproachwhiletheSuccessStorieswereintendedforawideraudience including the general European external Industry and future research anddevelopmentcommunities thatmightbe interested inFIWAREandthe initiatives thataresuccessfullyusingGenericEnablersinrealexamplesofmarketfacinginitiatives.Totargetthiswidergroup,weemployedthevastTechnetnetworkofthepartnerIDGusingthe tried approach of small, embedded informationwebsites know as Nanosites. Thesuccess stories (FIWARE Profiles and FIWARE Case Studies) were also activelydisseminatedviatheFI-IMPACTwebsite,socialmediaandFIWAREChannels.

2. DisseminationofImpactAssessment

2.1. ImpactAssessmentoutputsfordisseminationFI-IMPACTundertookImpactAssessment(IA)infourphasesacrosstheprojectlife.Alloutputs were prepared as public deliverables to ensure that they could be widelydisseminatedbothwithintheFIWARECommunityandtointerestedpartieswithinthewider research and technology communities who are tracking the progress of theFIWAREProgramme.D2.1 (Impact Assessment Handbook)1describes the Impact Assessment process, thetoolsusedtoachievetheresultsandthemarketcontextFI-IMPACTusedtoassessPhase3oftheFI-PPPandforecastpotentialimpactupto2020.ThisdeliverablewaspublishedinDecember2014toprovidestakeholderswithan insight intothe impactassessmentmethodologiesthatwouldbeapplied.D2.2Mapping and initial KPIs2, whichwas published inMay 2015, shared the initialmappingandanalysisoftheresultsofFIWAREAccelerator'sFirstCallsasat31March2015. It provided analysis of the 538 initiatives selected for funding by 13 of theFIWAREAccelerators. It outlined theKeyPerformance Indicators thatwill be used tomeasureandassessPhase3oftheFI-PPP.D2.3 Ex Ante Impact Assessment and Forecast3, which was published in November2015, provided insights intoFI-PPPPhase III funded initiatives fromcalls 1, 2, and3,analyzing725 initiativesselectedand fundedby15AcceleratorsatAugust31st2015.Thisanalysisbasedonaggregatedresultsprovidesinterestinginsightsintothemarketfocus, technology coverage, selection models and activities that the Acceleratorssupport. KPI Measurements were undertaken on 472 funded initiatives up to 03November 2015 across 5 main areas: Innovation, Market Focus, Feasibility, Businessand Consumer Market Needs, with the aim to assess the readiness of the Phase IIIinitiatives and their potential performance. An analysis of the market where thesecompanies are or will be soon operating, including an estimate of their revenuesprojectedto2020andaforecastingoftheirpotentialuserpopulationwasprovided.To complement the public deliverable (D2.3) FI-IMPACT also prepared customisedreports for each of the 16 Accelerators based on the data submitted by their sub-granteesthroughtheFI-IMPACTImpactAssessmentSurveymappingtheirportfoliobygeography, team composition, market type, use of FIWARE and potential marketdemandaswellasproviding insights intocomparativedataacross thewholedatasetfromallrespondents.ThesereportswereprovidedtoeachAcceleratorinJanuary2016

and thenupdated inMay2016 to reflectanalysisof alldata submittedvia the ImpactAssessmentSurvey.D2.4 Update of Impact Assessment and Forecast4, published in June 2016, providesanalysisbasedon985FIWAREsub-granteeproposal applicationsand648FI-IMPACTImpact Assessment surveys completed by sub-grantees between July 2015 and May2016.ItprovidesupdatedanalysisofthemarketcontextfortheFI-PPPPhase3fundedinitiatives,includingthesizeofthemarketsandkeymarkettrendsfortheareaswherethefundedinitiativesaimtocompetefromtheirentryinthemarketto2020.Itpresentstheestimatesoftherevenuesoffundedinitiativesandthenumberofusersofthefundedinitiatives,forecastedat2020.ItalsoprovidesthemacroeconomicimpactofthePhase3funded initiatives on the EU economic and employment system to 2020, through theestimationofdirect,indirect,andinducedquantitativeimpactsonrevenues,additionalspendingandjobscreated.

2.2. IntendedaudiencesThe European Commission is expected to use this impact analysis both on amacroscopic and detailed level to design better policies and laws facilitating better-informed decision-making in the legislative process and to ensure coherence ofCommissionpolicies.Focusingonthebenefitsandcostsofdifferentpolicyalternativesthey generally improve the quality of policy andEU intervention keeping it as simpleandeffectiveaspossible.However, thecommissionofficialsresponsiblefortheFI-PPPprogram are expected to use the specific information in the analysis to analyse theefficacyoftheirprogramaccordingtothespecificmarkets,actorsandgoalsthatithasand can achieve. The KPIs are meso-program level and describe real go-to-marketuptakepotential, fromtheoutlookofasingleindustrialsector.TheFI-IMPACTex-anteIAprovideProgramManagerswithanewsnapshotofpotentialthatmayinfluencetheirapproachinthefutureaswellasconcretetalkingpointsforthepromotionofthisPPPandsimilarapproachesinthetechnologydomainsconsidered.The Accelerator Projects are using the impact analysis as ex parte insight into thepotentialmarketdemandoftherangeofinitiativestheyhaveselected.Itallowsthemtoassesstheirownselectionandassessmentprocess.Itallowsthemtoassessthepotentialof the vertical Industrial Sectors where they are funding initiatives. The impactassessmentisavaluabletoolforAcceleratorprojectmanagerstoanalysetheirportfolioof projects in the context of which industrial sectors, and which technologies willcontributetotheoverallICTlandscapeandhowimportantthatcontributionwillbeinthe near future, is essential to understand how to best advise and guide theirSME/Entrepreneurs. The Assessment provides qualitative evidence tied to accuratemarket purchasing and growth projection and measured KPI performance providingAccelerators with valuable market intelligence to help Accelerators and the projects

they fund to make better-informed decisions. The Impact Assessment is givingAccelerators an additional tool to support internal analysis and keep the CommissionServices informed of their activities. It is helping them compare their performanceacross FI-PPP Phase 3. The Impact Assessment provides a valuable glossary andcommonyardstickforAcceleratormanagerstotalkaboutpotentialandmarketsoftheirSME/Entrepreneurinitiatives.TheSMEandEntrepreneursareusingtheImpactAnalysistoassessthecompetitivenessoftheirproductsandservicesandtounderstandandtailortheirtargetcustomerbase.The assessment provides insights into the market being targeted bySMEs/Entrepreneurs’sotheycanplangrowth incontiguoussectorsandmarketswithgood potential. This is particularly important for startups that are in the process ofvalidatingtheirbusinessmodelonthemarket,wheresmallchangesatanearlierstagecan result in dramatically more positive outcomes. The impact analysis provides anindependentmarketandsectorialanalysisthatcantrulyserveasanearlystagerealitycheck.TheFI-PPPissurroundedbyanumberofactorsthatgobeyondcurrentprojectparticipants, Commission Services, Accelerator projects, participating SME andEntrepreneurs. There is awhole community of platformdevelopers, Industrial actors,research communities, public authorities and investors who have in some waycontributedtothestatusoftherequirements,technologyusecasesandimplementationplatforms.Theyare all potentialbenefiters/usersof the IA.The ImpactAssessment isabletoanswertheirquestionsastowhichFIWAREtechnologies,whichcountries,whichmarkets andwhich channels hold promise as potential success areas. Leveraging thetime and investment of the whole Phase 3 communities they can get an idea of realimplementationpotentialofareastheyareplanningtoinvestinandassessthepotentialand outcomes of technologies and markets. They can also look at single KPIs andmonitor any given parameter over the course of the project. Investors can single outgroupsofinitiativestoassessinvestmentpotentialintheSMEsandEntrepreneursorinthe Ideas/sectors that lookmost promising further promoting the uptake of FIWAREtechnologies.

2.3. Disseminationactivities

As outlined in D1.2, FI-IMPACT leveraged a range of complementary disseminationchannels toraiseawarenessof the impactassessmentresults:directengagementwithstakeholders,FI-IMPACTwebsite,Twitter,infographics,FIWARECaseStudies,FIWAREProfiles,Basecamp,FI-PPPNewslettersandpresentationsduringFIWARECoordinationMeetingsandrelevantpublicevents.FI-IMPACTalsoprovidedcontent to theFIWAREPressOfficeforpublicationonFIWARE.org.There was a high level of direct engagement with the Accelerators and their sub-granteeswhocompletedtheimpactassessmentsurveyfromJuly2015-June2016.Allsub-granteesandtheirAcceleratorshadreal-timeonlineaccessthroughtheFI-IMPACTwebsiteonapasswordprotectedbasistoindividualImpactAssessmentReports,whichprovide feedback on data provided. It also allows sub-grantees to benchmarkthemselvesagainstpeerswhocompletedtheimpactassessmentsurvey.Thisprovidedsub-granteesandAcceleratorswithvaluableinsightintorelationtoInnovation,Market

Focus, Feasibility, Market Needs and Social Impact of their offerings that could befactoredintoongoingandfuturementoringneeds.The aggregated anonymised data was analysed in the public deliverables to provideinsightacrosstheportfoliooffundedrespondents.Thepublicdeliverables(D2.1,D2.2,D2.3andD2.4)weredisseminatedindividuallytotheAcceleratorsandtheywereaskedto also share with their sub-grantees. 3. DisseminationofSuccessStories

3.1. SuccessStoryidentificationFollowingextensiveengagementwiththe16FIWAREAccelerators,asub-setoffundedsub-grantees were selected to be profiled as FIWARE Success Stories. The datacollectionandtheoverallassessmentresultsarediscussedindetailinD3.3.Thissectionsummarises the approach and criteria applied to the selection, as well as the mainresultsfromassessmentoftheHighPotentialInitiatives.The first step in the selection process was to collect and analysis of the proposalsubmissions from the 9856sub-grantees. FI-IMPACT classified and harmonized datafrom each of the proposals. Each of these 985 was invited to carry out the ImpactAssessment survey. FI-IMPACT collected and reviewed informationmeasuring of KPIvaluesforeachofthese.Therankingscorecalculated foreachsub-granteeon the ImpactAssessmentKPIshasbeenthemaincriterionforthefirstselectionphase.Therankinghasbeensharedinone-to-onemeetingswith the 16 FIWAREAccelerators and following consultation the topcandidatesfromeachAcceleratorwereagreed.Thesesub-granteeswereinvitedtocontributetoFIWAREprofilesforpublicationontheFI-IMPACT website. The profiles7provide insight into the focus of the project, theorganisationinvolved,sector,targetmarket,businessmodelandwebsite.Over88sub-granteeswereinvitedtoparticipateinthisexercise,ofwhich73completedtheprocess.Asub-setof18sub-granteescompletedFIWARECasestudies8.Tenofthesecasestudieswere selected to also be disseminated through a FIWARE Nanosite via IDG onlinechannels to raise awareness of FIWARE Achievements and a sample of initiativesfocusedonAgrifood,EnergyandeHealth.The resulting list of 65+ High Potential Initiatives was further analysed, through adedicatedsetofquestionsaimedatassessingtheprogresstheSub-granteeshavemadeinvalidatingtheirbusinessmodelthroughtheaccelerationprocess.Thebusinessmodelassessment questionnaire has been completed and discussed in individual interviewswith59HighPotentialInitiatives.Theaspectsconsideredare:

IntendedaudiencesThe FIWARE Profiles and Case Studies are intended to raise general awareness ofFIWAREAchievementsandthetypesofbusinessessupported.TheyareintendedtobepromotionalmaterialthatcanbeleveragedbytheEuropeanCommission,Accelerators,sub-grantees and FIWARE Press Office as evidence of the success of the Programme.Theycanalsobeleveragedbythesub-granteeswithinvestorsandclients.TheprimaryaudiencefortheFIWARENanositewasEnterpriseITandITManagementaswellas ITDecisionMakers. IDGtargeted these job titlesacrossallverticalsbutputspecificemphasisontheEnergy,HealthcareandAgriculturesectors.

3.4. SuccessstorydisseminationviaNanosite

TheNanositeisahighimpact,richmediaembeddedwindowthatisdisplayeddirectlyonapplicableaudiencewebsites. It is theperfectsolutionfordrivingawarenessof theFIWARE program and the startups funded by the initiative. It offers deepeningengagementdirectlywithintheNanositewhereuserscanengagewithcontentsuchasinfographics, editorial articles and case studies without having to leave the site. It iscompletelycustomisableandcanbetargetedtoaspecificandappropriateaudience.Basedonthefeaturedlistedabove,itwasselectedasarelevantdisseminationtoolforraisinggreaterawarenessofFIWAREachievements.Thiscustom-designedandbuiltNanositecontainedthreetabs,eachhighlightedoneoftheselectedverticals(Energy,HealthcareandAgriculture).WithineachtabIDG-createdcontentwashoused,includinganeditorialarticle,thesuccessstoriesandaninfographic.The Nanosite contained lightbox functionality, which provided the viewers with an
