To compete nationally, the University of Tennessee must ensure that the top in-state recruits are
choosing to play for the Volunteers, while also attracting the best national recruits.
With scholarship costs rising nationally, it is imperative that the Tennessee Fund increases both
memberships and gifts to cover these costs. Every member and dollar count toward making
the student-athlete dream become a reality. The education and life lessons our student-athletes
receive are priceless. Consider increasing your gift or referring a friend to the Tennessee Fund.
Data based on the following projects: Average student-athlete expenses for FY20-21 based on 565 total SA 276.13 SA scholarships (81% out-of-state 19% in-state).

According to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed into law on December 22, 2017, Internal Revenue Code Section 170(l) has been amended to eliminate charitable deductions previously allowed for gifts given for seating in athletics venues. Priority seating per-seat gifts will not be deductible for tax purposes. Philanthropic giving beyond seating gifts are still tax-deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor for information on how these changes affect your personal income taxes.
Priority Point SystemDEFINITION OF THE POINT SYSTEM
The Tennessee Fund uses a priority point
system to fairly allocate member benefits.
Members receive points based upon the
consecutive number of years that they
have given to the Tennessee Fund and
the cumulative amount of their gifts. This
system seeks to reward both longevity and
gift amount when establishing priorities.
With the point total, the Tennessee Fund
can “rank” all members regardless of giving
category.
POINT ALLOCATION
Points are allocated as follows:
1 pt. Awarded for each $100 donated to the
Tennessee Fund* since 1986
1 pt. Awarded for each $100 donated to
Capital/Endowment funds since 1986
5 pts. Awarded for each consecutive year of
giving to the Tennessee Fund since 1986
10 pts.. Awarded for UT alumni
(one-time award per account)
50 pts. Awarded for UT letterman
(one-time award per account)
50 pts. Awarded for gifts given prior to 1986
(one-time award)
S.A.V.E. PointsBeginning in Summer of 2020, the Student-
Athlete Volunteer Excellence Fund (S.A.V.E.)
was established to off-set an extreme budget
shortfall projected due to COVID-19. Any gift
made to S.A.V.E. is rewarded with 5 points
for each $100 donated. All gifts must be
received by June 30th, 2021 to be eligible for
point bonus.

Approximate 2021 Away Game Ticket Availability
The total UT ticket allotment includes seating
for students, players’ families, coaches, band
and administrative staff. After those tickets are
allocated, remaining tickets are assigned to
Tennessee Fund members. These gift amounts do not guarantee seats in Neyland Stadium. The listed annual gift
levels are to provide new Tennessee Fund members with an idea of the approximate
amount required to sit in a specific section, based upon the 2020 season. All amounts
are listed as a gift per seat and allow the member to renew the same seats each year
if the gift is made annually. Seating locations are subject to change as needed due to
future renovations of Neyland Stadium. In addition, the cost of season tickets may
vary on an annual basis.
According to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed into law on December 22, 2017,
Internal Revenue Code Section 170(l) has been amended to eliminate charitable
deductions previously allowed for gifts given for seating in athletics venues. Priority
seating per-seat gifts will not be deductible for tax purposes. Philanthropic giving
beyond seating gifts are still tax-deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor for
information on how these changes affect your personal income taxes.
Away Ticket InformationAs A Benefit Of Membership, Tennessee Fund Members Receive First Priority For Away Game Tickets.
The number of members able to receive tickets
will vary for each game depending on demand.
Away game ticket quantities are determined
by giving category, and seat assignments
are made in relation to member rank. The
number of tickets eligible for purchase for
each game is indicated on the season-ticket
application. Members eligible to pre-order
away game tickets should do so when renewing
their season tickets. In the case that demand
exceeds supply, accounts may be refunded.

in the number of members who are able to order
tickets. Applications will be sent to members who
have made their Tennessee Fund gift by June 30
of each year and qualify for seating based upon
their annual giving category. Members must
purchase season tickets to qualify.

All football and basketball parking is reassigned annually by Tennessee Fund priority level and member rank (football as of March 1 and
basketball as of June 30) then by lot availability. Your priority level is determined by your annual contribution. Each annual giving category
is assigned independently, and annual fund gift levels are not combined to establish priority levels. Members must purchase football or
basketball season tickets to be eligible. The deadline to purchase football parking is April 30, and basketball parking is July 31. Please be
aware that no preference or previous parking assignment is guaranteed.

2020 Membership Guide
Planned Giving & Endowment SocietyTennessee Always invites you to be a part of our team and support
University of Tennessee Athletics by thoughtful estate planning and
through our endowment program.
Your membership not only encourages our student-athletes today, but can
create opportunities for generations to come. Many planned gifts allow
you to receive substantial tax advantages and other unique benefits while
giving generous support to the University’s athletic programs.
For more information about Tennessee Always,
please contact (865) 974-1218.
You'll Be a part of Tennessee
Gifts Of Appreciated AssetsYou may make gifts of appreciated stock, mutual funds or real estate and
take an income tax deduction for the gift’s current fair market value. When
UT sells the property, all capital gains taxes that would have been owed on
the sale are avoided.
Charitable Gift AnnuityIn exchange for a gift of property, marketable securities or cash, the UT
Foundation will contractually guarantee to pay you or another beneficiary a
specified annuity for a set number of years or a lifetime.
Bequests/Living TrustsGifts of this nature allow members to give a dollar amount, a percentage
of their estate or the residuary (the remainder after specified bequests
are fulfilled), to UT Athletics in their will or living trust. This also allows the
opportunity to document a bequest and designate the Tennessee Fund
member point credit to another individual upon the realization of the gift.
Retained Life EstateYou may deed your home, vacation home or farm to UT Athletics and
receive an income tax deduction based on your age and the value of the
property. You retain the use of the property for your lifetime, but the asset
is removed from your estate. You remain responsible for maintenance,
taxes and insurance on the property.
Charitable Remainder TrustYou may fund the trust with cash or appreciated assets and receive income
for your life and the life of a loved one after the gifted asset is sold by the
trust. Again, all capital gains taxes are avoided on the sale. You receive
a partial income tax deduction based on age and the amount of income
received from the trust. Furthermore, the trust assets are removed from
your estate.
Life Income GiftsCharitable remainder trusts can provide current tax advantages while
providing the member with income for a designated period of time or for
life. They provide the athletic department with an endowed scholarship or
operating fund gift upon the completion of the trust or member's death.
You also are encouraged to consult your tax advisor. Benefits for these gifts
must be evaluated on an individual case basis.
IRA/Retirement AssetsYou may make UT Athletics the full or partial beneficiary of an IRA or
other tax-advantaged retirement plan and avoid income taxes that may be
charged to the estate based on its account value.
EndowmentsAthletic endowments at the University of Tennessee provide a permanent
source of income to support student-athletes and allow them to develop
and compete for championships each year. These endowments assist in
providing the funds for athletic scholarships across all Volunteers Athletics
programs. Funding an endowment is a leadership contribution that leaves a
lasting impression on UT Athletics and the individuals donning the Orange
and White. Endowments may be established and named beginning at
$25,000. They help to ensure that future generations of student-athletes
will have the opportunity to become part of the Tennessee family.

M "PLAYING BY THE RULES” NCAA COMPLIANCE
An all-new online experience at tennesseefund.org.Visit tennesseefund.org to download the digital Membership Guide, access ticket information, and more.
The University of Tennessee Athletic Department (UTAD)
and individuals affiliated with the department, including
members, are governed by the rules and regulations of
the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and
the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Ensuring compliance
with NCAA and SEC rules is a top priority for the UTAD.
Compliance should be everyone’s responsibility, especially
for our members. Rule violations involving members
may adversely impact the eligibility of current student-
athletes as well as prospective student-athletes (recruits).
Additionally, violations involving members may prevent any
future association with the UTAD. Your participation and
acceptance of benefits and privileges available from the
UTAD is your acknowledgement and agreement to abide by
the rules and regulations of the NCAA, SEC and the UTAD.
The UTAD Compliance Office serves as a resource for
everyone affiliated with the UTAD. If you have questions
or concerns, please contact the Compliance Office at
(865) 974-3871 or [email protected].
