High School Soccer Officials of Central Florida… Practices

HistoryHigh School Soccer Officials of Central Florida (HSSOCF) is a local group of soccer officials organized and affiliated with the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA). Established in 1981, we now have more than 180 registered members who officiate the majority of the high school soccer matches in Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
Mission• The HSSOCF is dedicated to the continuing development of soccer
referees. We provide a forum for our members to meet and discuss soccer, refereeing, and related matters. We also provide ongoing training and developmental assessments for our members.
• We believe very strongly that a referee's first and foremost responsibility is to the game of soccer... to insure a safe venue for every player - regardless of age, skill or experience - to enjoy the game fully.
Different• We do not… fine our officials if they miss a meeting.• We do not… fine our officials if they are late/no show to a game.• We do not… fine our schools for late schedules.• We do not… fine our schools for changes & cancellations.
• We do… try to be as accommodating as possible with all of our schools and officials.
• How do we do it? What is our process?
2014-15 Season• Begins in early May, before the schools dismiss for the summer and
before the administrative personnel shuffle.– Board has reviewed operations and addressed ways to better
streamline our processes going forward.– Board has agreed on major dates for our events and meetings for the
2014-15 academic year.– Treasurer is distributing final payments to officials & our Assignor for
games from the spring season.– Treasurer is finishing up outstanding (problem) collections from 2013-
14 with school or district bookkeepers & Athletic Directors.– Secretary is distributing 2014-15 contracts to school principals.– Secretary is reviewing upcoming JLA expirations, and notifying officials.

Volunteer Mentor candidates to be selected on a first come basis.
Paired up as a Protégé/Mentor for two (2) meetings, plus at least two (2+) games, phone contact.
Reward Mentor with an end of season “bonus”.

(not games).• 2-3 weeks out, Assignor continues to work through with equal
assignments as much as possible, keeping schedule availability in mind.
• Once the game is less than 2 weeks, Assignor will go to his “short list” of officials who have specifically contacted him about being available for a specific night.
