Dear FFA Alumni Members,
I would like to introduce myself. I am Dennis Pennings, the 2010 president of the Denmark FFA Alumni. I reside in Denmark, have been active in FFA throughout school, as well as participated in the work experience abroad pro-gram (working in Australia), so I understand and appreciate the importance of
our local alumni chapter.
Our annual banquet was held in January, and we said thank you to Bonnie Gau-ger, Dave Rasmussen and Mike Maternoski, who have served on the board for the past 3 years. Their dedication and commitment to the Denmark FFA has been greatly appreciated. Replacing them are Joe Loritz, James Grasee and De-nise Nemetz. I look forward to working with the Denmark FFA Alumni board
and our members during 2010!
I want to share with you, in case you have not heard, that Diane Fischl- Den-mark Middle School’s Ag Instructor, will be leaving us at the end of this school year. Her hard work and contributions made, not only in teaching her students, but also in assisting with our Ag Program for many years are much appreciated.
She will be sadly missed, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
Looking ahead at the calendar for 2010, the Denmark FFA Alumni is again busy planning events, allowing the alumni to sponsor student activities and leadership opportunities. We want to continue “helping to develop today’s youth”, and this will be possible only through the support and participation of our members. I hope to meet many of you this year, and appreciate your cooperation in making
2010 a success!
Sincerely,
Dennis Pennings
FFA Members Compete in District Speaking Contest
On February 11, 2010 eight members of the Denmark FFA were on their way to West De Pere to compete in various speaking areas. Nicole Calaway and Joanna Wavrunek competed in the Job Interview Contest. Members need to complete a resume, cover letter and application prior to being inter-viewed on the day of competition. Ariel Ripp participated in extemporane-ous speaking, she picked a topic out of a hat and had 30 minutes to research and put a speech together about the topic. Jake Kraynik, Ashley Blazer, Brittiny Schroeder, Allison Kozelek and Allison Blazer all competed in the Middle School Quiz Bowl competition. During this there are several rounds were they are quizzed on FFA history and knowledge. Overall, everyone did an excellent job. Joanna Wavrunek took 1st place in Job Interview and Nicole Calaway took 4th. Ariel placed 5th place in extemporaneous speaking while the quiz bowl team placed 2nd. Joanna and the quiz bowl will be ad-vancing to Sectionals in De Pere on March 22nd. Good Luck!
The incoming Denmark FFA President, Dennis Pennings, thanks Michelle Malone, Dairy Product Research spe-cialist, for being a speaker at Ag Ca-reer Day, Feb. 19th.
Dylan Delveau and Courteney Van Oss take a look at all of the products on display made from Alpaca hair at the Ag Career Day.
Jake Kraynik, Middle School FFA President and Jacob Frye, thank Sid Kittleson, USDA Inspector, after he spoke to students at Ag Career Day
Snowfest is the perfect end to FFA Week
