Femicide

CONCEPT• Femicide is the killing of a woman by her ,

and is directly linked to the exercise of power, control, domination of men to women.

Belem do Pará Convention

• Understand violence in a specific way, resulting in historically unequal power relations between women and men and causing death, bodily harm, sexual or psychological harm to a woman.

In Costa Rica

• According to Ana Hidalgo .. "70% of homicides in Costa Rica are related to gender factors.

PENALTY ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

• This law recognizes the existence of femicide in cases where violence was perpetrated by husbands and partners in the union, but does not include ex-partners or other men who maintain family ties to the victims.( art 21 LCVM)

• (art 21 )- Femicide

Shall be punished by imprisonment of twenty to thirty and five years of death who a woman to keep a marriage relationship, together with the fact declared or not.

INAMU

• According Ivania Arias, press officer of the National Institute of Women in Costa Rica, INAMU, to July 27, 2009 there were 21 murders of women in Costa Rica.

¿Who are the murderers?

• These murderers can be peasants, guards, shopkeepers, clerks, students, or can be anyone. There is no profile so to speak.

Hatred and cruelty: an instrument of death

One of the most important of these is the cruelty femicide, that is, not just those women were killed, is a terrible cruelty in most cases.

Solutions
