The Fellowship Progra rings unique individuals with design, usiness, and social sector ackgrounds into IDEO.org or a 12 onth-period. While there, Fellows will work to apply huan-centered design to iproving the lives o people in low-incoe counities. Three o the Fellows will e senior designers ro IDEO and serve an iportant part in helping share the approach and ethodologies o design thinking. They will act as project leads and guide their teas through the design process. The reaining Fellows will e selected ro around the gloe or their deonstrated leadership skills in the private, social, and design reals. We intend or the learning ro this intensive experience to lter into our Fellows’ uture work related to the challenges o poverty. What makes a person eligible or the IDEO.org Fellowship Program? We’re looking or candidates to have at least 5 years o proessional ull-tie work experience, or a graduate degree plus 3 years o work experience. Prociency in English is a ust. Individuals ro the design, usiness, and social sectors who can help our teas deliver great work or our partner organizations are our ideal candidates. You should e passionate aout social innovation, have experience working in the developing world or with low- incoe counities, work well in teas, e clear and articulate in descriing your ideas, and love exing your creative uscles. We’re striving or diversity in our Fellowship Classes. I you are ro outside o the U.S., we’ll help you with the Visa application process i you are selected as a Fellow. 4. OpenIDEO challenge submission– Participate in a current OpenIDEO

challenge (add inspiration, coent on soeone else’s idea,

suit an idea, etc.) We encourage you to participate in the current

challenge to show us how you think and work in an open collaorative

environent. Please suit your user nae with your application.

5. Portolio link/work samples – I applying as a designer, please include

a link to your portolio or provide work saples. Please indicate your

role and contriution or each project suitted. There is a 5 mb liit

on uploading your portolio.

I you are selected or Phase Two, IDEO.org will contact you to prepare the ollowingaterials. Applications will e reviewed on a rolling asis.

1. Short Visual Story – Create a visual story aout soething ore you’d

like us to know aout you. Use photos, video, drawing, or whatever

visual ediu sees ost appropriate or you. The visual story is an

open-ended question that asks you to visually express soething you

want us to know aout you. We are really interested in your creativity,

ut also want to see how well you can succinctly tell your story.

2. One letter o recommendation rom a proessional or academic

contact. What do other people think o your potential to do great

things as an IDEO.org Fellow? We would love to hear ro the. Please

suit one reerence ro a proessional or acadeic context using

the orat and questions provided.

What is the timeline or the application process? When are Fellows

chosen and notifed?

December 9th, 2011 – Fellowship application due

December 23rd, 2011 – Phase 2 candidates notied

 January 13th, 2012 – Visual story due

February 20th-March 2nd, 2012 – Applicant interviews

Mid-late March, 2012 – Fellows selected and notied

How long will each class o Fellows be in the Fellowship Program?

The Fellowship Progra will start on August 6th, 2012 and end on July 12th, 2013.

What happens ater Fellows complete the program?

Our hope is that ater the Fellowship Progra, Fellows will take the knowledge and tools

they have gained and apply it to uture work in the social sector. We intend to uild a

network o individuals who have gone through the Fellowship Progra who can use each

other as resources in the uture.

Are Fellows compensated during their time in the FellowshipProgram?

Fellows will receive a $50,000 living stipend.

Can Fellows bring their spouse, partner, and/or children?

Yes, ailies are welcoe to accopany Fellows during the Fellowship. However, Fellows

will e responsile or covering all travel costs, Visa processing, and other living expenses.

Where will Fellows stay?

IDEO.org will provide housing or Fellows relocating or up to one onth. Fellows will need

to secure accoodations in the Bay Area or the reaining tie in the progra.

How much travel outside o the Bay Area will be required?

Fellows will travel oth doestically and internationally depending on the needs o the

project. Teas will likely e on location ro 2-4 weeks at a tie.
