Post Script, January, 2016 Issue Address: 6918 N. Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL 33604 Fellow Legionnaires The Year is over and New Year has began. We have accomplished a lot in the past year, with a lot more to be done. As you can see the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association, selected us to make the front of our building beautiful! We are very honored. On December 8th,2016, we had 31 members and volunteers, arrive to our post and by 12:30 it was all done , with lunch to follow. We can not thank them enough. Out of 31 people we had 2 members, Willie Little, with Marine Corp League, David “Sarge” Lequerica. They did ask if they could get some donations. Patterson International donated $100.00, Buck’s Plumbing donated $50.00, Tampa Bay Beach Boppers donated $100.00, Eddie Torres donated $10.00, Chet Thatcher donated $100.00, Marine Corp League donated $500.00. Out of all of this it left us paying only $1000.00 for the Sprinkler System. The rest was paid or donated to the tune of $5.000.00. Oh yes let’s not forget the Dragon Fly Landscaping . On December 9, OSHA had their Christmas Party at the Legion, with 100 to 118 in attendance. They had a great time Rene and I saw the Neighborhood come together dancing and having fun. With all of this I refer you to the Thank you page in the Newsletter. Remember in 90 days there will be nominating of Officers. Yes I will be running again. See you at the next meeting . Fellow Legionnaires

The Year is over and New Year has began. We have accomplished a lot in the past year, with a lot more to be done. As you can see the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association, selected us to

make the front of our building beautiful! We are very honored. On December 8th,2016, we had 31 members and volunteers, arrive to our post and by 12:30 it was all done , with lunch to follow. FINANCIAL REPORT

    “HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!”

I hope, this new 2017 year brings you and your loved ones peace, love, joy, happiness and especially good health.

We are very proud of our last year over all Post accomplishments. We thank our staff for their hard work

and also those of you whom also were involved. Believe it or not, our Post is like a business. In order for the business to be successful it must have good employees and right management.

Also, let’s give special thanks to our generous neighbors, Old Seminole Heights Association (OSHA) for landscaping our Post. 31 members of their association volunteered to do the work. They planted and mulched shrubs and trees in front and side of our building and around the flag pole. It’s beautiful, especially at night when the lights are on. You should see it, if you have not seen yet. The post installed a sprinkler system in order to maintain the plants.

As you know, our Post financial status is not as good as it was a year ago. We had large expenditures in 2016 and still have them today, repairing our very old building and bring it little by little per required City Codes. Much still needs to be done and I hope financially this year we will be able to continue in doing it. With that being said, here is our financial status as of December 19, 2016:

    Checking Account: $ 3,822.07

    Saving Account: $ 9,556.40

    Total: $ 13,378.47

    Commander J.P Anderson August 4, 1948

The most impressive part of the program, however, was the way in which the younger Legionaires who understand the Legion program and are working at it for the service they able to render rather than for what “ they can get out of it” are taking part and assuming the leader-ship. It gives an “Old Buck” a great feeling of security for the future of our Country to know that these younger fellows will carry on after we are forgotten. It restores our faith in this generation that sometimes is all but lost through the wailing of the few who think the Legion can and will be handed to them on a silver platter.

The Legion, like all good things came about through hard work minority opinions to the contrary notwithstand-ing and it is only through the same kind and will continue on. Those who contribute most will be honored like-wise.

These young fellows who are giving unselfishly, whether they ever expect to gain in honors or otherwise will be in the future leaders in the American Legion, and don’t you forget it. Their Brothers, the chronic gripers , will be out of the Legion or still sitting on the side lines crying because their more energetic , straighter-thinking Comrades are not running things to suit them.
