Despite this being my fourth book, this story begins before my Book of Logos. Infact, upon closer inspection of my first book the Book of Logos: Dispelling the

Myths one can see this black cat Felix drawn into two pages in the Alchemy

section. For me, the union of synchronicity is a perfect balance between both

images that is undeniable.

When I first arrived to the Bay Area, I realized that I had become like a fresh new

plate of raw meat placed before rabid, wild and hungry dogs. There is a naive air

one has being across from the a Golden Gates and it has taken me about ten years

to really settle in and become embedded and comfortable.

Do-nuts: The Start



I started piecing these collages together finding artful metaphors that naturally

displayed my experiences. The images herein helped me grow and laugh not only

at examining Felix but more importantly dissecting myself. Part of why I wanted

to put this book together was to talk point blank about loving, especially as a

black woman loving a black man.

From the very first second Felix saw me in that Donut shop he had sized me up.

He didn't know me but I knew instantly that he wanted to know me. He tried to

tell me that he was homeless. I immediately speculated that he must be unhappy

with the woman he lived with. My insight was spot on correct.



Putting everything together all I have seen becomes synchronicity. Now, do nuts

is Do-nuts. And cash rules everything around Felix he drives endlessly because

he is dough nuts. The crazy things about living in the BEAST (pig-Latin for East

Bay) is that driving donuts is/are an actual pass time. Now, Felix doesn't drive

small donuts. His parallels curves make loops spanning at least fifty miles before

composing an opposite. His drive for cash is a real thirst and hunger.

As an artist who has loans validated by degrees, I can't even deal with a man that

doesn't have DRIVE and cannot process BIG numbers. Felix is a true blue hustler.

That hustle attaches black men to their gangsta pimp mentality, which then

becomes the nape that is their hides.

Nothing in life is perfect. I don't really enjoy that most of our relationship hashappened inside one of four cars. But, that is how things fall when dealing with acool cat who loves being busy and on the go.

The first car was the Dodge RAM truck and that HEMI had a growl, which rattledmy kundalini every time he hit my block.The second car was the white one. I believe it was a parting gift.The third car has the most wear and tear. That Magnum rolls a lot of history.Most importantly a disaster that cost $10,000.00 dollars. Finally, the most recentfourth car is the unbridled Mustang.



Love: Is Messy

After our very first kiss in that truck, I made a conscience choice and decision to

deeply and truly love Felix. Our relationship started for a year and a half and thenended. For the next three almost four years we were friends only. (This is the gap

of time where my second book tells that visual story). Felix and I would hang out

and talk. But, then one summer day he confessed that he actually loved me. I

knew that he was serious when he told me and I was elated to accept his

courtship.

It seemed easy to make that jump back from friends to lovers again. But, my Ms.

Independence wanted things to be perfect and she isn't really about being

attached.



July 1987 L.L. Cool J's second single "I Need Love" hit the air waves.

Looking back from 2014, 1987 was the last last time a black women heard any

black man say he needs love.



He knows all the classic R&B Soul

sounding love songs and I love his

melodies when he sings them to me.



What I have come to realize is the biggest drip on our relationship is me.It has taken a while for me to accept that neither of us is perfect.

Therefore our love cannot be perfect. In realizing that I am super harsh

and critical, I have come to understand that my Ms. Independent

Independence is the first to "pop off" destroying everything. I just

recently have been able to bear witness to my own self sabotage that

attempts to kill our relationship using one sided unspoken expectations.

I love him because he really tries to catch me before I splatter just like

this picture. The next several pages are modified Felix the Cat comic

covers and they display what I have learned about myself in this sincerelove affair. Also, there is some deeply intense and personal humor using

my dachshund Charley Murphy.

Charley adores me just as much as Felix. In these muddled times it is so

super easy to focus devotion back to the undying loyal pet versus a

human. The pet doesn't speak back. Most of the time, Charley sleeps.

The pet caters to our souls' need to nurture loving and being loved.



It is seriously impossible for any man to

commit to a woman that IS an unplugged

grenade.



Nose 2 Knows

I'm the first one with gloves on ready to throw

verbal punches.

I couldn't make this up:

Luckily, for me this cat is a genius.



It took forever to sink into my

atomic inferno that when I wanna

stress my correctness I say,

"Here's the thing..."



Answer: Giraffe Pussy



Ritual: He finds his inner peace drinking each cup.

My dachshund hates to be called hot dog or weiner dog

both names hurt his feelings.

Black Cats are quick to grab a gun. That tough demeanor is an armor

cloaking their vulnerability. My black cat cannot be cornered. He is a by

any means wild hunter, fisher, catcher and killer.

Most cats like him have been literally shot up and lost most of their family

and friends. He is smarter than most alley cats and all I can say he is

heavily armed.



his image is instant therapy remembering to keep things light and fun. It

isn't about seduction. It is more about enjoying each other and trying to

balance out each other's extremes.

Mutual Therapy



6 Senses: Sight

Searching the horizon's line he loves my beach's curves.



6 Senses: Hearing

Hearing the command to heel Charley is ready to bounce down the

highway running far away. But, what I hear both Felix and I say to

each other is heal.



6 Senses: Intuition

Together we are a vintage sighting he is the center of my parade and I am

his eternal red Moon.



6 Senses: Smell

We both can smell when the other is up to no good. We make each other laugh

a lot.



6 Senses: Touch

He is my gardener literally spoiling my fields with bouquets of seeded flowers.

I love that he has never stopped loving me.



6 Senses: Taste

I was AOL for a ridiculously long time. Then I realized, " I got male!"



The small text in this image addresses that the photo pictured is TomSelleck. The punch line is that black men can be hairy than white men. It is a

huge stereotype that the white man is the hairiest male. But, my Felix is a

covered everywhere but his head. When I was a kid I had an obsession

watching Magnum P. I.. Today I assume my focus was toward appreciating

his hairy body.

Naked Truth: Final Thoughts



A very rare moment under the rainbow together, especially since I have revealed

everything between us he hates to be photographed.

So as if it isn't obvious, I am the feral feline that is tamed here. I hope my story

reveals some revelation to someone. We ALL need love.
