Purchase of annual vehicle entrance permit is available online at www.parkrec.nd.gov, at NDPRD headquarters in Bismarck, through the Call Center at 800-807-4723 or at any state park.

Senior Discount: ND residents age 65 and older are eligible to purchase an annual entrance permit for $20.

Disabled Veterans and POWs: ND veterans with a 50 percent or greater service-related disability and former POWs are eligible for one free annual permit. All other ND veterans with service-related disabilities may purchase an annual permit for $20. Requires a current VA proof of disability or ND DAV/POW license plates.

Library Loan Program: A daily park pass can be checked out by library card holders for no charge at most North Dakota public libraries.

Miscellaneous FeesHorses: Horseback riding is allowed at Fort Ransom, Fort Abraham Lincoln, Sully Creek and Little Missouri state parks and Pembina Gorge. A horse user fee is charged to allow use of horse facilities. Use of certified weed-free forage or feed is required. Contact the

park for availability of certified forage. Horse permits may be purchased at the parks that allow horseback riding.

Out-of-State Public Trails and Lands Access Permit: North Dakota law requires all out-of-state and out-of-country snowmobile operators to obtain a snowmobile permit to operate on public right-of-way and trail systems.  The revenue generated from the sale of passes is used to assist in maintaining North Dakota’s trail system. Permits are available online or at any North Dakota state park or recreation area.

GUIDELINES● Reservations for cabins, yurts, shelters, meeting halls and

rooms can be made up to 365 days in advance.● Reservations for shelters, dorms, horse campsites/corrals

and group or meeting facilities may be made by calling the park directly.

● Reservations for campsites and tipis can be made within 95 days of date of arrival. Stays are limited to 14 nights within any 30-day period. Stays may be limited to 3 days when the campsite is not being used for recreational purposes.

● To help determine the 95-day window for reservations, a calendar including all dates for the 2017 season can be found online at www.parkrec.nd.gov/online/window/pdf.

● Online reservations can be made 24/7 with the exception of the first day of the 95-day window. These reservations will be available at 7 a.m. Central Time.

● Campsite, cabin, tipi and yurt reservations can be made online using the “Online Management System” (OMS). Prior to using OMS for the first time, users are strongly encouraged to register for a North Dakota Login ID (see OMS for details).

● Reservations for campsites, cabins, yurts and tipis can be made until noon the day prior to arrival.

● Same-day reservations are accepted after the reservation window has closed. Customers can book same-day arrival nights directly at the park for either the current or the next night. Reservation fees apply for telephone reservations. There is no reservation fee for walk-in registrations.

● Payment in full is required to confirm reservations. Reservation change and cancel fees apply. The reservation fee is non-refundable (see fee schedule which follows). NDPRD accepts Discover, Visa and MasterCard credit cards. Checks and money orders are not accepted for reservations.

● Call Center reservations are limited to five resources during one phone call. For large group gatherings, when 10 or more adjacent campsites are desired, call the park directly.

● In 2017, campsite reservations may be made for May 19 through Sept. 4, except for Fort Ransom State Park which will have reserved sites available through Sept. 24.

● On holidays and weekends, a 2- or 3-night cabin, yurt, tipi or campsite stay may be required.

● Campsite check-in is after 2 p.m. and check-out is by 1 p.m. Full service cabin/yurt check-in is after 4 p.m. and check-out is 11 a.m. Camping cabin/tipi check-in is after 4 p.m. and check out is 1 p.m.

LodgingSEASONAL LODGING

Camping Cabins: Small one-room cabins are available during the full-service season at the state parks listed below. Each cabin can sleep up to five in bunk beds and is equipped with lights, heat, air conditioning, fan and either a deck or patio. No cooking is allowed inside. No showers, sink or toilet. Comfort stations are available for use. Users are responsible for providing bedding and towels. No pets are allowed in cabins.

Woodland Cabins: There are 12 units available during the full-service season at Turtle River State Park. Ten units sleep up to 6. Two of 12 units are ADA compliant (wheelchair accessible) and sleep up to 3 each. All units equipped with private showers and toilets.

Tipis: Available during the full-service season at Cross Ranch and Fort Abraham Lincoln state parks. These 18-foot Cheyenne style tipis sleep up to 4. Tipis include cots, a fire ring and a picnic table. No cooking is allowed inside. Comfort stations are available for use.

YEAR-ROUND LODGINGPrimitive Cabins/Yurts: Available year-round at Cross Ranch and Lake Metigoshe state parks. Users should bring their own bedding and towels. See park listings online (parkrec.nd.gov) for cabin/yurt amenities.

Full-Service Cabins/Yurts: Available at Lake Metigoshe, Cross Ranch, Fort Ransom and Fort Stevenson state parks. Each cabin is equipped with heat, kitchenette and (ADA) accessible bathroom. Users are responsible for providing bedding and towels.

Group Dorms: Two group dorms, each sleeping 60 in bunk beds, are available at Lake Metigoshe State Park. A shower house is adjacent. Available year-round.

John Colter Cabin is available year-round and sleeps up to 5. It has 2 bedrooms, electric heat, overhead lights and wood-burning stove. Camp stove and cooking utensils are not provided.

Marina Slip RentalsMarina slips are available at Fort Stevenson, Lewis and Clark and Lake Sakakawea state parks, all are managed by the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department. A $200 deposit is required by Oct. 15 to hold a requested slip, and the balance is due by May 1.

Fort Stevenson State ParkThere are two marinas located at Fort Stevenson State Park – de Trobriand Bay Marina located on the east side of the park and Garrison Bay Marina located on the west side of the park.

GUIDELINESPolicies governing use of North Dakota State Parks are published in the North Dakota Administrative Code, Chapter 58-02-08. The full text is available at www.parkrec.nd.gov. Failure to obey these rules may result in verbal or written warning, summons and complaint, fine and/or loss of park privileges.

• Additional information about facility use policies is available either online or at the park.

• A park can limit the length of stay to 3 nights when a customer is not using a campsite or overnight facility for recreational purposes.

• Must be 18 years of age or older to rent park campsites and facilities.

• Fires must be contained in designated fire rings and attended by an adult at all times. Campfires may be prohibited based on the ND Fire Danger Rating Map.

• Contact park for restrictions on alcohol use and insurance requirements for rental of group facilities or shelters.

• Metal detecting on state park property is not allowed.• No person, with exception of a duly authorized peace

officer or person licensed for concealed carry, may possess a firearm within a state park. Unless exempted, firearms must be contained in a gun case and unloaded both in barrel and magazine.

RESERVATIONS• Reservations for campsites, cabins, tipis and yurts must be

made either through the online management system (www.parkrec.nd.gov) or by calling 1-800-807-4723 (7 am to 7 pm Central Time). Reservations for picnic shelters, dorms, group and meeting facilities and horse camping/corrals must be made by calling the park directly.

• Reservations for cabins, yurts, shelters and group facilities are accepted 365 days in advance. Reservations for campsites and tipis are accepted 95 days in advance. A credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) is required to make a reservation, and the credit card is charged at the time the reservation is made.

• A non-refundable reservation fee is charged regardless of how the reservation is made.

• Reservation cancellation and change fees are charged on a sliding scale. See page 5 for additional information.

CAMPSITES• Camping allowed on designated campsites only. One

camping unit per campsite allowed (maximum of 6 people or immediate family), unless the site is designated as a group or multiple site.

• On holidays and weekends, a minimum of 2 or 3 nights rental may be required for cabins/campsites.

• Campsite check-in is after 2 p.m. Check-out by 1 p.m.• Campsite and cabin occupancy is limited to no more than

14 nights in any 30-day period.

CABINS• Cabin and group facility users are expected to do general

cleaning prior to vacating, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces and collecting and bagging trash.

• On holidays and weekends, a 2- or 3- night cabin or yurt stay may be required.

• Full-service cabin/yurt check-in is after 4 p.m. Check-out is 11 a.m.

• Camping cabin/tipi check-in is after 4 p.m. Check-out is 1 p.m. (11 a.m. at the Lake Metigoshe cabins and yurt).

• Cabin/dorm/yurt/tipi visitors must provide bedding, towels and soap.

• No smoking in cabins and facilities.• No cooking inside camping cabins, primitive yurts and tipis.• No game or fish cleaning in or around cabins or group

facilities. Contact park staff for other arrangements.• Users must adhere to all park rules and regulations posted

in each facility.

PETS• No pets are allowed inside cabins or indoor facilities.• Pets must be kept on a leash and attended at all times.• Pet waste must be bagged and disposed of in an

appropriate manner.
