Children Around the World Need Your Help

Hunger knows no boundaries. Its effects are seen around the world and 1 in 9 children

struggle to find the food needed to survive every day. Throughout developing countries,

hunger is driven by a lack of resources, conflict, corruption, natural disasters and many

other factors that have caused a global concern. Here in the U.S. the number one

contributor to hunger is the rising cost of living. Although children around the world

need your help, thankfully in 2018 you responded in a major way.

From humble beginnings around a dining room table 8 years ago, together we have

turned compassion for the hungry into a global movement. Working alongside

our generous partners, we are making an impact in the fight against hunger.


In 2018 alone, 83,242 volunteers packaged

15,952,172meals at 342 Hunger Projects for hungry children and families that need it most.

With your help, we have visited communities filled with despair and hopelessness and watched as the faces of hunger have turned into faces of hope because of your commitment to doing something that matters.

We seek out partnerships with organizations that

are already making a difference through long-term

solutions. That strategy has helped us put more donor

funds to work in areas that greatly expand impact.

This Food+ strategy is aimed at solving hunger while

supporting education for girls, women’s health,

economic development, orphan care and creating a

culture of self-sufficiency.

The South Sudanese make up 1.4 million of the world’s refugees and they are

fleeing to settlements like Northern Uganda. Over the last 8 years, South Sudan

has been ravaged by civil conflict and famine. Last year, the U.N. declared South

Sudan in an official state of famine. In a country where hope is hard to find,

you helped send life-saving meals to 19,520 refugees, (15,616 of which were

children), build a brighter and stronger future.

WHO YOU’RE HELPING


Between the difficult terrain, lack of agricultural programs and vulnerability to natural

disasters, the people of Haiti have the odds stacked against them. Partnering with Love

a Child, our Hunger Heroes distributed 38,000 meals to an orphanage in Haiti. These

boxes of food came with inspiring messages of hope and pure joy, lifting the spirits of

all those who received them.

YOUR IMPACT


Venezuela is currently struggling with a country-wide crisis. The economic and

political issues have taken a huge toll on the people, making food supply scarce

for a majority of the country. A hometown Hunger Hero partnered with FCE

to do whatever it took to help save lives of children in Venezuela. Because of

this effort, they were able to provide aid to children who need it most through

15,000 meals for the hardest hit areas.

The world can produce enough food to feed every person on earth, yet 40 million

Americans are still left to skip meals, eat less at meals, buy cheap non-nutritious

food or even feed their children but not themselves. In a country as prosperous as

the United States, hard-working individuals and families still find it difficult to put

food on the table because the already high cost of living continues to rise. This is an

everyday struggle for those living at 200% of the poverty level and below.

WHY FULL CART?We have a crisis in the United States that gets worse

every year. In all areas of life, costs are going up at

historic rates. Healthcare, education, housing, and

food are all climbing, but wages are fairly stagnant.

When money’s tight and food prices continue

to rise, families are faced with tough choices for

putting hot meals on the table for their children.

WHAT IS FULL CART?That’s why, with your help, we launched Full

Cart, a grocery delivery service for hard-working

individuals and families looking for a way to extend

their budget. For pennies on the dollar, anyone in

the United States can order a package of delicious

meal kits and popular grocery items delivered to

their front door. All they pay is the cost of shipping.

This social innovation is radically changing the

way hunger issues are solved in America.

BIG MOVES FOR A SMALL BUSINESS!

SELF-SUFFICIENCYCreating a small business from the ground

up and improving business skills are reliable

ways to foster financial independence and self-

sufficiency; two pivotal factors in ending hunger.

Bee Bee, for example, was displaced by Hurricane

Irma after her roof caved in and she found herself

struggling to find a direction. She was forced to

move from place to place while trying to rebuild

her life. After going through our entrepreneur

training class, Bee Bee is back in her home and

her cleaning service is now a thriving business in

Seminole County.


JOSIE’S STORYJosie is a single mother of three who works full-

time while earning a degree to be a nurse - there’s

no doubt that she works hard. Traditional food

pantries often have odd hours that don’t line

up with people who are trying to make a living.

Because Full Cart delivers food directly to those

who need it, Josie doesn’t have to take time off

work to go to a food pantry before they close.

When Josie looks to the future, she sees her family

doing better and not struggling to pay the bills.

FROM HUNGRY TO HUNGER HERO

PEGGY’S STORYBecause of her personal experience in the foster

care system when she was younger, Peggy

understood the needs of those facing food

insecurity. She decided to start an “online food

pantry” group on Facebook to help give back to

those in need, but the impact was limited due to

costs and shipping restrictions. Then Peggy found

Full Cart. “Before discovering Full Cart, I could

only help 50% of people who asked for assistance.

[Now], we’ve turned that number to 100%.” Peggy’s

group can now send groceries across the United

States directly to those who need them most.


WAREHOUSE EXPANSIONRegional warehouses are a part of the ongoing

mission to deliver delicious meals to people in all

50 states and effectively serve those regions. Every

expansion reduces long-haul shipping which

decreases carbon emissions by 40% and allows

us to allocate more funds back into our programs

to provide more meals for those who need them

most.
