• What do you think of the layout of the magazine? (Sloppy? Well organised?)

I do like the layout of the magazine. I think it’s clear & simple and makes it easy to ready not over complex.

• Do you like the colours used? If not, what other colours would you have suggested?

The colour scheme chosen is red black and white which I find elegant and contrasting; a great blend of colours. I also

think the colours are effective because it attracts the audience . (Eye catching)

• What do you think of the pictures used throughout the magazine?

I thought the pictures helped to illustrate what the magazine was about. The pictures where clear and sharp and

where necessary highlighting the upcoming career of Shante or symbolising fashion and trends.

• What genre of music would you say this magazine is for? How can you tell?

I believe Hip hop, RnB and rap are the genres covered in this magazine. I can tell because of the musical artists on

show e.g. J Cole, Jessie J and Keri Hilson.

• Do you think the magazine appeals to those of your age? E.g. Font, colours, language, pictures, content etc. If not,

why?

I believe the magazine applies to my age group. The colours are bold and attractive, the font is a reasonable size easily

readable, the pictures are elegant a represents fashionable trends and the language used is easily understood, not over

complex. Quotations from young artist such as Wiz Khalifa “Roll one, smoke one" are also youth-like vocabulary.

• Do you think the price of this magazine is reasonable (£3.95)?

I think the pricing is reasonable because the majority of magazines based on celebrity gossip and fashion usually price

at £5+

• Would you buy STATUS magazine regularly or recommend it to your age mates? If not, why?

I would buy STATUSand also recommend status magazine as its current and easy to understand.

Interviewee #2Lois De Cordova, 16

• What do you think of the layout of the magazine? (Sloppy? Well organised?)

Well organised and tidy.

• Do you like the colours used? If not, what other colours would you have suggested?

Not too sure about the black, might be a bit too harsh and plain but the red writing stands out. I might've used a midnight blue for the background instead of black or two colours (e.g. pink/purple) blending into one (if that makes sense) to make it more appealing

• What do you think of the pictures used throughout the magazine?

Well suited to the topics and pretty!

• What genre of music would you say this magazine is for? How can you tell?

Hip Hop, just because of the black and red colours and also because of the artists mentioned e.g. Lil Wayne etc

• Do you think the magazine appeals to those of your age? E.g. Font, colours, language, pictures, content etc. If not, why?

I think its suited to people older than me, say 21+ because it looks reasonably sophisticated, but I don't think it would appeal to anyone my age solely because "status" reminds me of status quo and because the background is a bit plain.

• Do you think the price of this magazine is reasonable (£3.95)?

Considering Look magazine is only £1.80 and has a wider range of topics (e.g. fashion, celebrity news etc) I think it is a bit expensive, maybe if it was £2.50 I would buy it

• Would you buy STATUS magazine regularly or recommend it to your age mates? If not, why?

I wouldn't buy it just because I'd read most of the information on the internet and also because of the price, but I would recommend it to my friends who are into music.

• What do you think of the layout of the magazine? (Sloppy? Well organised?)

I think that the magazine is very well organised and neat.

• Do you like the colours used? If not, what other colours would you have suggested?

I like the red and white combination but I think that back to back solid black pages are quite rare. Maybe a

less harsh colour would’ve been better?

• What do you think of the pictures used throughout the magazine?

I think that the pictures are of really good quality but I think you could ‘ve experimented with different models

to make the magazine more interesting.

• What genre of music would you say this magazine is for? How can you tell?

I would say your magazine is a Hip hop magazine. I could tell this from the artists used as the cover stories.

E.g. Rihanna, Drake, Wiz Khalifa (all hip hop artists).

• Do you think the magazine appeals to those of your age? E.g. Font, colours, language, pictures, content etc. If

not, why?

I think that the magazine is slightly too young for me. Maybe for those in their late teens/early twenties? The

language used is not sophisticated enough and the colours are too playful.

• Do you think the price of this magazine is reasonable (£3.95)?

Very reasonable.

• Would you buy STATUS magazine regularly or recommend it to your age mates? If not, why?

Personally, I would not buy this magazine because I feel it’s a bit too young for me but I would suggest it to

some of my younger friends.

• What do you think of the layout of the magazine? (Sloppy? Well organised?)

In my opinion, this isn't sloppy but the layout and structure could be improved and better organised.

• Do you like the colours used? If not, what other colours would you have suggested?

I personally like the colours but they would not be kind to the visually impaired audience. I suggest

softer colours and text in black.

• What do you think of the pictures used throughout the magazine?

Makes it more interesting and engaging.

• What genre of music would you say this magazine is for? How can you tell?

Hip hop, due to the subheadings on the front cover.

• Do you think the magazine appeals to those of your age? E.g. Font, colours, language, pictures, content

etc. If not, why?

No. The characters and genre of music would appeal more to a younger audience.

Yes the price is reasonable.

• Would you buy STATUS magazine regularly or recommend it to your age mates? If not, why?

• What do you think of the layout of the magazine? (Sloppy? Well organised?)I think that the layout of the magazine is quite simple but still eye catching, its also easy to read/follow.

• Do you like the colours used? If not, what other colours would you have suggested?I really like the combination of colours, they compliment each other very well.

• What do you think of the pictures used throughout the magazine? The pictures are really good quality but I think that they appeal to boys more than girls. I say this because majority of your pictures use female models, and the poses are quite seductive.

• What genre of music would you say this magazine is for? How can you tell?I would say that your magazine is a hip hop magazine, I can tell because of the colours used and how they’re used. Also, the features on the front cover are all RnB/hip hop artists.

• Do you think the magazine appeals to those of your age? E.g. Font, colours, language, pictures, content etc. If not, why?Overall, the magazine is very creative. But I think it’s a little too immature for people of my age. More sophisticated language would’ve taken it to the next level.

• Do you think the price of this magazine is reasonable (£3.95)?Yes

• Would you buy STATUS magazine regularly or recommend it to your age mates? If not, why?Personally, I wouldn’t buy it, but I would suggest for my friends to read it. It’s a good magazine.

I like the layout. It’s got a lot going on but it’s panned out in an organised way.
