Indian Institute of Management Rohtak, abbreviated IIM-R, is a public business school located in Rohtak, Haryana, India. It is the eighth Indian Institute of Management to be established, after IIM Shillong. Ranked among the top B-schools of the country, it is also the only IIM to be strategically located in the National Capital Region. Established in November 2009, the institute offers Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in Management, a Fellowship Programme, Executive Post Graduate Programme and a number of Executive Training Programmes. The 11th Five Year Plan, endorsed by the National Development Council in December 2007, envisaged the establishment of six new IIMs. IIM Rohtak is the first amongst the six IIMs approved by the Union Cabinet on 27 August 2009. In continuance of the Government’s vision of promoting excellence in managerial education, the eighth Indian Institute of Management was established in Rohtak on November 16, 2009. IIM Rohtak started functioning in June 2010. It was formally inaugurated by Mr. Ravi Kant, Vice Chairman of Tata Motors Ltd., in the presence of eminent faculty of IIM Lucknow and board members. Mr. Ravi Kant is the first Chairperson of the Board of Governors of IIM Rohtak.
