The policy will include any fees the agency will charge its clients. Additionally, the fee policy shall identify expenses for which a foster family will be responsible. The schedule shall include a list of rates paid to foster parents. PROCEDURES BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION CERTIFICATION Foster parents are required to complete at least four (4) clock hours of behavioral intervention training each year. The agency will incur the expense of these trainings if the trainings are held by our agency. If foster parents attend other behavioral trainings available in the community, they are responsible for the expense. CANRIS BACKGROUND CHECK A CANRIS background check (Child Abuse Records) will be run every two years for each member of a foster family household (ages 12 and up). The foster family incurs no expense. Expense of NCIC background check through Identix is $48.95 per person. This one time expense will be incurred by the foster family before verification. All persons living full or part time in the home who are over the age of 18 will need the NCIC check. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK A criminal background check will be run every two years for each member of a foster family household (ages 14 and up). Expenses will be paid by the agency. CHILDCAREChildcare may be reimbursable by DFPS. However, this will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the CPS worker. Should childcare be required and it is not approved in advance by the CPS worker, this would be an expense incurred by the foster family. The agency does not reimburse day care expenses.

CREDIT CHECKA credit check will be run on prospective clients initially. The agency will incur the expense of this credit check.

CPR/FIRST AIDFoster families are responsible for obtaining CPR/First Aid Certified for Infant/Child. This certification must be renewed every two years. The initial certification is a cost the foster family is responsible to pay. If there are two parents, both parents should receive certifications. Bi-Annual renewals will be paid for by the agency.

FLU SHOTSAnnual Flu shots are recommended for foster family households. This expense is the responsibility of the foster family.

HOME STUDIESA thorough home study must be conducted at each prospective foster family’s home. This expense will be paid for by the agency.

INSPECTIONSEach foster family home must have the following annual inspections; fire inspection, health inspection, gas pipe inspection and liquefied petroleum gas system inspection. Any expenses incurred for these inspections are the responsibility of the foster family.

LIVING EXPENSESAll living expenses for children in foster care are the responsibility of the foster parents. Foster parents will be given a daily reimbursement rate to assist with the expenses of their foster children. Foster care reimbursements are specifically for the purpose of providing daily care to the foster children. The agency will not reimburse foster parents for expenses above the daily reimbursement rate.

MEDICAL/DENTAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL/EDUCATIONALAll medical, dental, psychological, educational expenses of a foster child are the responsibility of the foster parents. Children will receive Medicaid. Any expenses incurred should be by a Medicaid provider. Medicaid will reimburse the provider. It is important for foster parents to learn about Medicaid limits and how Medicaid works so as to not incur personal expenses for their foster children.

TB TESTFoster families are responsible for ensuring each member of their respective households gets a TB test annually. TB tests must be received each year prior to the expiration date of the current test. This is a cost the foster family is responsible to pay.

TRAININGS Agency foster families are required to secure a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training specifically related to improving our knowledge of caring for children in foster care. The agency will incur the expense of these trainings, if they are held by our agency. If foster parents attend other trainings available in the community, they are responsible for the expense.

RATES PAID TO AGENCY FOSTER PARENTSThe following rates are the minimum rates that a Child Placing Agency must reimburse its foster families for clients receiving services under a contract with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
