Founded in 1971 at Little Rock, Arkansas by FredSmith.
Originally known as FDX Corporation, currentlyheadquartered at Memphis, Tennessee.
World’s third largest express transportation companyand cargo airline.
Smith got the idea from a paper he wrote while at
Yale University identifying the importance of time inbusiness and the inflexibility of US Airlines at thetime of making fast deliveries.
In 1983, became the 1st US company to reach $1Billion in revenue without any mergers oracquisitions.
Rapid growth by using technology such as COSMOSand DADS.
Slowly expanded operations to other countries, todaypresent in close to 200 countries across the world.
