Leadership Team

DISTRICT OFFICER ELECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!! District 4-H Council officers are elected during District Leadership Lab on June 23-25, 2008 at 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood. Job descriptions for each office and applications are available at the Extension Office. Any 4-H’er who has served as a member of a District 4-H Council as a voting delegate is eligible to seek an office. Those 4-H’ers elected to a District Council office in June will not be eligible to serve as chairman of any of the Project Development Committees. Refer to the standing rules in the District 10 4-H Handbook. Qualified delegates interested in seeking Council office must apply by returning the application into the Extension Office by April 18th. Scott Chapman and Quatro Patterson will once again serve as our vets for the project. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. We will be going on our annual field trip to Texas A & M University College of Veterinary Science Open House on

March 29TH, 2008. Mark your calendar. Admission is free. www.cvm.tamu.edu/openhouse Parents are requested to attend our first meeting to discuss the field trip. Supervision and vehicles will be needed to haul youth to the Open House on March 29th. Approximate cost for the field trip is $10.00 plus food and/or souvenirs. Project leader is Mike Boyd, please call him after 8:00 p.m. @ 370-9558 if you have any questions about Vet Science.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jesslen Clark for finishing 7th in the NBHA Youth 3D Barrels and Cheyanne Hyatt who finished Reserve Champion in the Youth 3D Barrels and qualified for the NBHA Youth 3D Barrels and willbe going to Jackson, Mississippi to the Youth World Finals. Cheyanne also finished Reserve Champion in the Open 3D Barrels and will be going to Augusta, Georgia to the World Finals in October!!!

Project Runway your favorite show? Would you like to learn how to sew? If you answered “yes” to any of these

questions, then the 4-H Clothing Project is for you!! Once you participate in this project at the county level, you

become eligible for many fashion related competitions at the District and perhaps the State Level. You could compete in the Fabric and Fashion Design Competition, the Fashion Show Stage Design Contest, The Fashion Show Narrator

Contest, the Fashion Show Texas Natural Fiber Competition, or the Fashion Show Construction or

Comparison Shopping Competition.

At your February Club meeting, you will be able to pick up a blank copy of the project record book and a copy of your buyers. If you prefer to fill this out by computer, please contact the Extension Office and we will be glad to e-mail it to you.

Checks will be available in Early March. You must have completed and mailed your thank you note (please make us a copy) and filled out your project record form before you can pick up your check. All checks will be picked up at the Extension Office by the exhibitor or legal guardian.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this years Hill Country District Junior Livestock Show. We would like to also wish those of you who are participating in the majors GOOD LUCK!!!

Kerr County 4-Hers Judge Wool at the Next Level For the past two years Kerr County 4-H has been well represented on the Texas A&M University Wool Judging Team. Dub Walston in 2006 and Bryan Weaver in 2007. Both of these young men were fortunate to have participated on the Kerr County teams and competing and winning the National 4-H Contests during their 4-H tenures. During the fall semester Dr. Shawn Ramsey teaches a class on wool evaluation in which 50-60 freshmen try out for the A&M Wool Judging Team. Practicing countless hours on advancing their knowledge and communication skills with hopes of judging at three major collegiate contests; Denver, San Antonio and Houston. The National Western Contest in Denver, Colorado serves as the National Wool Judging Contest. In 2006 Dub was high point individual in the National Contest followed in 2007 with Bryan Weaver winning high point individual and his team winning the National Contest by one point over Angelo State University. Congratulations to both of these young men on making such great achievements at the next level.
