The Sweetheart Run is returning to the Ritz Charles on Saturday,

February 13 at 9 am! Get your friends and loved ones together for this fun

5K! Participants will receive a custom bib number, large finisher’s medal,

custom knit hat, and more. Long sleeve shirts can be purchased for $10

when registering. Kids ages 8 and under can run in the kids fun run of 50-

200 yards.

Join us at the race to benefit the Head for the Cure Foundation, a nonprofit

organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding in the fight against

brain cancer.

vendors and area races will be exhibiting and different speakers will be making presentations

each hour during the day. There will be lots of great deals on races and running related

accessories and lots of great information presented to make your running experience more

successful and more enjoyable in 2016! This free expo kicks off with the Sweetheart Run 5K

levels of runners/walkers are welcome! Groupie run participants also save 20% off

ROCK THE PARKWAY GROUPIE RUNS

The FREE 2016 Rock the Parkway Groupie Runs are each Sunday at 7 am at the

Leawood KC Running Company store (4760 W 135th St, Leawood, KS) until race day,

April 9, 2016.

The Rock the Parkway Groupie runs are designed to work for people of all fitness levels,

whether you are running the 5K or the half marathon, and the course will be well

marked each week and supplied with periodic aid stations. Let us know the event you

have signed up for and your race goal, whether it be "to finish," a specific pace/mile

or a finishing time. Groupie runs are free, but please register at

Train with KC Running Company 5K TRAINING PROGRAM

This two tiered training program is designed to help both the novice 5K runner and the

more experienced intermediate 5K runner achieve their goals with specific training

schedules, personalized support and twice weekly group runs at two different locations!

The program is $75 which includes a shirt, program, group runs, weekly information

sessions, and registration to the Rock the Parkway 5K (price will be adjusted for those

already registered for Rock the Parkway 5K). Training runs and info sessions will be

Saturday and Wednesday at the Lee’s Summit KCRC store (1555 NE Douglas St, Lee’s

Summit, MO) and Thursday and Sunday at the Leawood KCRC store (135th & Roe in

Leawood, KS).

Informational meetings for the training program are February 10 at 6 pm at the Lee’s

Summit KCRC store and February 11 at 6pm at the Leawood store. Program starts the

LEAP DAY GROUPIE RUN IN MARTIN CITY

We get an extra day in February and we think we should use it to have some fun! Mark

your calendars and join us for a Leap Day Martin City Groupie Run on 2/29 at 6pm!

We will go for a run of 3-4 miles around Martin City (135th and Oak) and hang out

afterwards and enjoy some of the finest treats that Martin City Brewing Company has

Fight for Air Climb - February 28 at 8am at One Kansas City Place, Kansas City, MO

The Fight For Air Stair Climb is a 902 step challenge on February 28 at One Kansas

City Place in downtown Kansas City! Help raise funds for the American Lung Association

Steps for the Chest 5K - February 28 at 10am at Johnny's Tavern, Lawrence, KS

Be a part of the fun at this annual event on the levee in Lawrence! Compete for age

group awards and overall prizes while raising funds and awareness in the fight against

breast cancer. Sign up for the race here.

The Storybook 5K - March 5 at 9am at Shawnee Mission Park, Shawnee, KS

Join Open Minds Child Development Center in supporting Early Childhood Education by

participating in our first annual Storybook Run 5K Run/Walk! Dress up as your favorite

storybook characters and run through the theatre in the park. Donate your favorite

new or slightly used children's storybook to be shared with children who will gain a

lifelong love of reading and learning! Sign up for the race here.

Big 12 5K/12K - March 12 at 10am at the Power & Light District, Kansas City, MO

The Big 12 Run 5K/12K is Saturday March 12 at the Sprint Center and features an

opportunity to test your winter training while representing your favorite school!

Everyone that crosses the finish line for either distance will receive a finisher’s medal

and nearly $5000 in Phillips 66 gas cards will be given out to the top finishers! Learn

Easter Egg 5K & Lil’ Bunny Fun Run - March 26 at 8am at

Southcreek Office Park, Overland Park, KS

Join us for a fun family event featuring a beautiful course, a visit

from the Easter bunny, great event shirts, post-race food and drink,

custom bib number plus unique finisher’s medals! After the 5K, kids

ages 8 and under can participate in the Lil’ Bunny Fun Run and an

Easter Egg hunt! The race benefits Marillac, an innovative

organization helping children in the Kansas City area which provides

a full continuum of behavioral health services for children and
