PRACTISING GOD’S PRESENCE

Would you like to know that God is guiding you? The first step is to practise His will. Hebrews 5:14 says, Solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. As we spend time with the Lord, we learn what pleases Him.

Brother Lawrence, the monk who wrote Practising the Presence of God, experienced His presence even when washing dishes. Wherever you are—at the sink or at the office—you can practice sensing His presence in your life.

God gives us an ability to hear His voice, to distinguish between good and evil, and to know His will. Like any talent, this grows when we use it but shrinks if we don’t. Jesus says in Matthew 13:12: For whoever has, to him shall more be given, and he shall have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

The Lord has a wonderful purpose for our lives—that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2 NKJV). When we seek His will and obey His commands, His Spirit will guide us. And if we make a mistake, Psalm 51:17 promises, A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

The continual cry of our hearts should be, “What will please You, Father? I surrender my will to You. Teach me and guide me, for I am Your child.”

If we come to the Lord in that frame of mind, He will move heaven and earth to prevent us from being misled and to keep us in the center of His will. God bless you!

CBN’s award-winning journalists tackle the tough issues, bringing a unique perspective on the news, and revealing the impact the headlines carry for Christians in the world today. CBN News stays ahead of the curve with investigative pieces and guest ex-perts bringing extensive analysis on the economy, Capitol Hill, and uprisings in the Middle East—including live reports from Chris Mitchell in our Jerusalem Bureau. And with the rise in unprecedented disasters, Operation Blessing’s David Darg files reports from places like Japan, following the earthquake and tsu-nami, and is on the move around the world, covering the latest humanitarian crises. News teams cover devastating tornadoes, floods and hurricanes—cover-ing the stories as CBN’s Operation Blessing International teams work in the field, helping victims rebuild their lives.

Life-changing special programming The 700 Club continues to broadcast powerful, life-changing special programming. Special series like Life Beyond the Grave introduced our audi-ence to a group of people who had died and gone to heaven or hell. These true stories described, in incredible detail, events in the afterlife. Diane in West Virginia invited her neighbor to watch it—and her neighbor understood for the first time that there is a real hell, and prayed to commit her life to Christ! Secrets of the Supernatural offered amazing stories of God’s power to deliver people from life-threatening situations. Dr. Chauncey Crandall, a medi-cal doctor, shared how God overcame his reluctance to believe in miracles—by prompting him to pray for a dead patient who came back to life! Signs of the Times featured dynamic teachings by Pat and Gordon Robertson, looking at what God’s Word says about end-time prophecy and the role of Israel in the last days. Each of these special series offers our partners an opportunity to grow in their faith and provides a tool for evangelism they can use to share the Gospel with family, friends and neighbors.

Broadcasting interviews that matter Audiences were uplifted by visits from Christian leaders, authors, and enter-tainers, including John and Carol Arnott, Reinhard Bonnke, Wellington Boone, Larry Gatlin, Michael W. Smith, Jack Hayford, Rebecca St. James, Nicole C. Mullen, Darlene Zschech, Bebo Norman, and Andraé Crouch. It is so important in our world today to hear the message of God’s trans-forming love from real-life heroes and celebrities who can influence our cul-ture to stand for biblical values and push back the darkness.

Looking to the years ahead As CBN looks to the next 50 years, we thank God for faithful partners like you. Your regular support makes it possible to continue bringing the Gospel and a message of hope to millions of people every day through The 700 Club. May God bless you in this new year and the days ahead! Today, viewers never have to miss a single show. The 700 Club is now avail-able any time on demand at CBN.com. CROSSING OVER FROM ONE YEAR TO THE NEXT

Then The priesTs ...sTood firm on dry ground in The midsT of The Jordan; and all israel crossed over (Joshua 3: 17).

PAGE 4

Joshua supplies us with a great backward and forward look as we cross our Jordan into the promises of a new year. 1. God’s PathwayBefore they crossed over the swollen river the people were told (Josh 3: 4) “there shall be a space between you and [the ark of the covenant], about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before”. Joshua com-manded the people to sanctify themselves in anticipation of the fact that the Lord was about to do wonders among them. So must we, for God is ready to work miracles on our behalf as we trust Him for 2012. 2. God’s ProvisionThe LORD said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you” (v 7). Although the wandering in the wilderness was not God’s best for Israel, under the leadership of Moses they had experienced God’s provision of food from heaven, water from a rock, warmth from a pillar of fire by night and the cooling of a cloud by day in the extreme weather conditions of the desert. Even their shoes and clothes didn’t wear out! Similarly we can all look back on the way God has provided for us in past years. 3. God’s PresenceIn verse 10 Joshua said, “By this you shall know that the living God is among you”. He promised never to leave us or forsake us too (Heb 13: 5). As we further enter this new year we should practise the presence of the Lord in our lives. Only then can we overcome the difficulties that will inevitably surround us. The giants of the year facing us will be insignificant as we take the Lord’s presence into every situation. Without it we are doomed to failure. 4. God’s PowerAfter Joshua and the people had crossed successfully into the promised land, God’s instruction was that a memorial should be set up to give honour to the Lord for His wonders among them. It was to be a testimony to the people of the world that God is great and He is to be honoured and obeyed. Joshua 4: 24 says: “that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty.” The reason we are in ministry is to make known God’s power, as well as Jesus’ love, to a broken and hurting world. This can come about only when we ourselves experience His Pathway, Provision and Presence. May you, dear partners, be blessed throughout this year with the favour of God as you consistently give God place in your life. Thank you for confirming the sincerity of your love through your generous gifts to this ministry and your continued prayers.

That was before Rod discovered the biblical principle of financial success. “It really pierced my heart,” he says. After Marjorie heard these same principles on The 700 Club, they began trusting God with their finances—and began giving. Soon both Marjorie’s health and the fam-ily business were completely re-stored—but God had even bigger plans...........Find out about them on 700 Club.
