The Beer Snob Saturday, February 2 • 6:00 pm Lets open Benefic Spirit with a celebration of oceanic travel (Captain Burn- ham was a sea captain after all!) Nothing speaks to this better than IPAs! Will Siss, Connecticuts own Beer Snob will lead a conversation on beer and the history of Connecticut brewing, followed by a beer tasting. Must be 21+, space limited, registration suggested. No More Pink Teas : The Militant Surge for Woman Suffrage Saturday, March 16 • 11:00 am The 19-teens saw an increase in bold suffrage activity, from large parades in state capitals, such as the one held in Hartford, CT, to picketing the White House. Join Progressive-era suffrage historian Joanie Dimartino to discover how national and CT suffragists participated in a surge of militant political activism that led to women gaining the right to vote in 1920. Space limited, registration suggested. WWI Monuments in CT Thurs, March 28 • 6:30 pm How better to celebrate the giving spirit of Bridgewater than to think of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in WWI. Join historian Richard Frank- lin Donohue for a lively lecture and discussion about WWI memorials in CT, with a special emphasis on Litchfield County. Space limited, registration suggested. Leonard Bernstein an American Treasure Thursday, April 25 • 6:30 pm 2019 is the centenary of Bernsteins birth and it is a good time to celebrate this American treasure. This program is presented in memoriam of the Librarys friend Burton Bernstein whose investigation explained the Piggott bequest that made the 1979 expansion of the Library possible. ry with special programs, presentations, and displays.

The Beer Snob • Saturday, February 2 • 6:00 pm

Let’s open Benefic Spirit with a celebration of oceanic travel (Captain Burn-

ham was a sea captain after all!) Nothing speaks to this better than IPA’s!

Join us for the 8th annual nationwide celebration of children and

libraries. Wear your cozy winter jammies and enjoy delicious

pancakes, a reading of If You Give A Pig a Pancake, and search for

Pig and friends in a family scavenger hunt. Registration is required.

Eleanor Gowan Exhibit • Mid-February—March

Many long time residents will remember Eleanor Gowan

as the owner of the Bridgewater Store. However, her

life was so much more and in many ways emphasized

the benefic spirit of Bridgewater. Join us for an exhibit

looking at her life, experiences, and many contributions

to our lovely little town.
