Interdisciplinary CommitteeThe Interdisciplinary Committee represents the interests of the multiple disciplines who provide treatment to tobacco users nationally and internationally, ensuring members are treated with respect, regardless of treatment specialty. We align with ATTUD’s overall strategic goals and collaborate in website improvement, interdisciplinary webinar offerings, and investigate opportunities for growth in publications.

Training Issues CommitteeThis committee shall explore and investigate issues related to the improvement of training and continuing education of tobacco cessation treatment providers. Emphasis shall be placed on (a) identifying standards of practice for Tobacco Treatment Specialists; (b) ongoing communication with the membership in order to identify key training issues; and (c) developing activities that serve the training needs of the membership.

Continues to serve as a liaison between the Council for Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training Programs (CTTTP) and ATTUD

Solicited proposals for the management of the CTTTP, with a goal of finalizing a formal arrangement this year

Core Competencies ‘White Paper”, now published

Developed procedure for reviewing and updating the ATTUD Core Competencies

Initiated and co-sponsored webinar in April of 2014 record-breaking attendance (n=960)

Continues to work on the development of a unified Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification Program

Income $35,191 – 100% from membership fees (n=370 members)

Expenses $33,058 including several new expenses

Constant Contact ($54/month)

Liability insurance ($1,404)

Legal fees ($693)

Member access to Journal of Smoking Cessation ($5,000)

$66,003 in reserve

Goal is to achieve an income of $45,000 (~500 members)

International CommitteeThis committee shall represent the large numbers of tobacco treatment providers outside of the United States, and to ensure the interest of non-US members are represented to the Board of Directors and in the corporation’s activities. This committee’s goal is to work in collaboration with international tobacco treatment providers outside of the United States to build relationships, exchange information and influence the development of international policies and training resources in the treatment of tobacco dependence.

Study the needs of international members using an online survey that was conducted Mid 2014

Currently in process of developing material for promoting ATTUD during the WCTOH, Abu Dhabi 2015

Sharing in the provision of guidance and support for international Global Bridges grantees

Communications CommitteeThis committee is responsible for formulating and preparing the program for conferences sponsored by ATTUD. It also oversees the development and implementation of any publications and communications such as a journal, listserv, website, newsletter, etc.

Membership CommitteeThis Committee is responsible for recruiting full and associate members, the establishment of the appropriate criteria for membership, overseeing the processing of applications for admission to membership, and passing upon the qualifications of applicants. The membership committee is also responsible for reviewing allegations of unethical conduct of members or conduct that contravenes the stated goals of ATTUD, and, if necessary, for administering the provisions for revocation of membership specified in the by-laws.

Disparate Populations CommitteeThis Committee’s goal is to strengthen collaborative relationships among tobacco dependence, mental health, and addiction treatment stakeholders in order to influence the development of agency, state and national policies and resources that promote the treatment of tobacco use and dependence among persons with mental illness and substance use disorders or behavioral health. In addition, the Committee has identified other populations with higher smoking prevalence, such as: corrections, military and veterans, and disabled to create or coordinate enhanced interventions and policy to reduce their disparities regarding tobacco use.
