AT ST. STANISLAUS KOSTKA As we did last Lent, we are offering a

variety of ways for you to “get into the spirit of Lent” as a time of prayer and

fasting, on your own or as part of a larger or smaller group.

As we approach Ash Wednesday, let us mention a few of them:

Fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday

(only one full meal and 2 smaller meals for anyone between 18 and 59)

Abstaining from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday,

and every Friday of Lent (requires everyone over 14 to

not eat meat or meat by-products) NOTE: There is NO upper age limit when it comes to abstaining from meat.

Daily Mass at 9AM except on Wednesdays

when our Mass will be at 7PM

Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 7PM

Confessions Saturdays 4:30-5PM

Reconciliation Monday April 6

K of C LENTEN FISH FRY Beginning February 28

Every Friday in Lent from 4-7PM. One dinner plate includes choice of fried or baked fish, vegetable lasagna, linguini with red or white clam sauce, or macaroni & cheese. Menu may vary weekly. Gluten free pasta is available.

Dinner prices Adults $12 Seniors & Veterans $10 Children (under 12) $6 Max. for a family: $30

Special seafood dinner plate $14 Add $3 for clam chowder.

Additional charge for seconds.

Begins March 2 This will be a 5-week book/video study during March (evenings) which will help us envision the Holy Land sites that Jesus walked 2000 years ago and give a fresh perspective to help delve deeper into Christ’s passion and death. LENTEN COMPANION Thursday Morning reflections

Begins February 27 If you are free during the day and are interested in a weekly midmorning gathering to follow through with a Lenten daily reflection book – let Nancy Dunn know. Thursdays in the community room after the 9 am Mass beginning on February 27

Books are $5 apiece. We have a few left. Call Nancy Dunn 635- 1700 x 12.

There are a limited number of Lenten Word Among Us booklets available at the doors of the church.

ANNUAL LENTEN CHILDREN’S EVENT “Let My People Go!”

Sunday, March 8 | 12:15-3:30pm All are invited to our annual Children’s Lenten Program. Participants will go on an interactive journey with Moses as they are freed from slavery in Egypt. Everyone should bring a packed lunch and wear old clothes, as some of the activities involve getting a bit messy. Registration forms are near the doors of the church and are available in the Parish office, Faith Formation office, and online.

FAITH FORMATION NEWS

CONFIRMATION ANNOUNCEMENT Due to circumstances beyond our control, our

Confirmation Retreat scheduled for April 4 has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

A letter has been sent home advising Confirmation families of this development.

Our Spring Family Catechesis will be held March 24 & 25.

TEEN CLUB NEWS

Next Meeting – Our next meeting will be next Sunday, March 1. Please see the St. Stan’s Teen Club Facebook page for all the info about this meeting.

Fish Fry Fridays – The K of C Fish Fry Fridays begin on February 28th and will continue every Friday throughout Lent. The teen club has always volunteered at these events as a way of thanking the Knights of Columbus for all that they do for the teens as well as the entire parish community. Please look at your schedules and let Mrs. Tighe know which Friday you will be available to volunteer. Why not bring the whole family – they can eat while you serve.

Stations of the Cross – The St. Stanislaus PTAF Teen Club will be leading the Stations of the Cross on March 13th at 7pm. We are asking all of our members to be available to assist in preparing and presenting this most important devotion for the parish.

“Rocky Railway: Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Through” We look forward to an amazing fun- and faith-filled four days. Early registration opens March 1. Participants (Pre-K 4 through 6th graders) who register before May 1: $30/ person; after May 1st $35/ person. Volunteers are needed – adults and students who have finished 7th grade or above.

We would like your help with a special PV Food Pantry collection planned for March 7th thru the 15th

We’ve been told that the following items are in high demand but short supply: - Soap, deodorant, toothpaste, razors, shampoo, and similar personal hygiene items - Spaghetti sauce (not pasta) - Sweet cereals - Coffee - Sources of protein (canned tuna, chili, hash, beef stew, etc)

Tables will be set up in the Parish Hall to receive these items during the dates listed above. Our parish has always been very generous during collections such as this. Thank you in advance for donating the items mentioned above for those less fortunate in our community.

Spring Campaign: February 26 – April 5, 2020

Your prayers can save lives and change hearts. 40 Days for Life is a life-saving prayer campaign that will take place throughout our Archdiocese starting on February 26 and concluding April 5. 40 Days for Life is a peaceful initiative consisting of 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and educational outreach with the goal of protecting mothers and their children from abortion. MARIAPOLIS LUMINOSA EVENT Celebrating Unity - Centennial of Chiara Lubich’s Birth
