UHF feeder assembled Slide 5 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session Results on 1-st stage of IREN project TH2129 klystron was coupled with pulse transformer from SLAC 5045 klystron, successfully tested on stand and transported to the accelerator hall on January 16. Slide 6 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session Results on 1-st stage of IREN project IREN main control room: control equipment under assembling and adjustment Slide 7 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session IREN 1-st stage parameters with TH2129 Klystron SLAC 5045 Electron beam energy spectra dN/dE [rel.] TH2129 E [MeV] Slide 8 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session IREN 1-st stage parameters with TH2129 Klystron Max. electron energy 75 MeV Av. electron energy 50 MeV Pulse current 2.8 A Pulse width 200 ns Repetition rate 50 Hz Beam power 1.4 kW Neutron intensity ~3 10 12 n/s Slide 9 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session Time schedule for 2008 Slide 10 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session Time schedule for 2008 Slide 11 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session Time schedule for 2008 Slide 12 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session IREN 1-st stage Experimental Program H2OH2O TiTi e-e- e-e- H2OH2O Al Pt, or W POSSIBILITY OF TIN-117m PRODUCTION Gamma spectra from enriched tin sample 117m Sn Gamma spectra from natural tin sample 117m Sn 111 In Slide 13 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session IREN 1-st stage Experimental Program MULTIELEMENTAL PHOTON ACTIVATION ANALYSIS Elements determined by track method using photoneutrons Elements determined by IPhAA Slide 14 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session IREN 1-st stage exp. program: (n,p), (n,alpha) reactions investigations at high energy Slide 15 February 21-21, 2008JINR Scientific Council 103-d session Conclusion Consequences of the klystron SLAC 5045 damage were diminished by replacement with TH 2129 one keeping almost the same beam power at lower energy. In spite of relatively low intensity, IREN first stage, due to short pulse, is giving us possibility to make certain experiments in high neutron energy range. Significant gamma rays intensity in wide energy region (10 100 MeV) makes realistic extensive program of applied research. Financial resources, allocated within JINR budget, are sufficient for project completion. Project management and FLNP Directorate ask SC to support the decision of JINR Directorate and PAC on Nuclear Physics on prolongation of the topic Construction of the IREN facility for 2008 with the first priority and hopes for realization of the expected results in current year.
