The Anglo Saxons called February Sol-monathcake monthbecause cakes were offered to the gods during that month. Gotta love a good Anglo Saxon cake!! Thank you, Bonnie for the fun Shara Reiner MITI in January. Love mine and plan on gifting it to my DIL for her desk at work. You are right, her designs do just make you happy. Im so excited that we are signing up Rosemary West for 2021, Jillybean for 2022, and possibly Patricia Rawlinson for 2023. Planning ahead feels good. Thank you to Evie and Deb for the plaques that we will paint and exchange at our March meeting. If you did not get one and would like to participate, contact Deb or get one at the February meeting. And Deb and Evie have planned a fun new way for painting a Christmas exchange – from the rummage sale at the Spring Retreat, donate a $1 or 2 and pick out your item, paint it and exchange it in December. What variety we will see! We also got our Spring Retreat registrations (which will also be included in this newsletter) so check the registration deadline and the amazing projects we will do. What a fun year we have planned. Hope you can join us for it all!! Jo Ann

BHADA Jan. minutes

The January meeting was called to order at 9:30am with 17 members present. The first order of business was a motion to approve the minutes of the December meeting. Deb C made the motion to approve the minutes as printed in the newsletter. Evie H seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Treasurer Mary Z. presented the budget for 2020. The rent budget had to be amended to cover the rent for the June meeting, which we didn't have in 2019. This was approved as amended and the 2019 financial report was filed for audit.

Committee Reports: Spring Retreat: Janae passed out the registration forms for retreat. She announced that there would again be a Rummage Sale. DEADLINE to register is March 21.

Fall Seminar: Deb & Evie will be contacting Rosemary West for '21, Jilly Bean for '22. Bobbie Campbell will be sending pictures for project vote for the Feb. meeting for the 2020 Seminar.

Hospitality: Lind K and Nelda brought treats this month. Betty and Rita will bring the Feb. treats.

Membership: Nelda announced there are 29 paid members.

Newsletter: Luann set the deadline for Jan. 24 for articles.

Ways & Means: no report

Webmaster: JoAnn has the site up to date. Minutes are stored for 6 months on the site. Photos sent to JoAnn will be posted on a special page.

Holiday exchange: Deb & Evie passed out plaques for the Easter exchange instead of eggs this year. The plaque should have an Easter/Spring theme. They also have changed the December exchange a bit. This year we will all pick an item from the rummage sale to paint for exchange. Details at Retreat.

Unfinished Business: Linda H and Connie will meet as the Audit Committee this week. Vet ornaments will be painted at the May Meeting.

New Business: Non-member participation in Retreat will only be allowed if there is room after the deadline. There is no extra charge. Meeting cancellations due to weather will be sent out by e-mail. SO if the weather is not good check your e mail before going to Terra Sancta. JoAnn has offered to donate her portable microphone for use of teach-ers. Connie moved and Kimber seconded the motion to move some money from the checking account to our Saving account. Motion Carried.

Share & Shine: projects were shown by Linda H, Deb, and Connie

Door Prize: The prize was painted by Janae and won by JoAnn who will paint the prize for next month.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:12 to paint Shara Reiner Funky Flowers with Bonnie.

Respectfully submitted by Bonnie E, Secretary

SHARING MEMORIES

February! Valentine's Day! Hearts and flowers! Are we all expecting lacy Valentines and flowers this month? Maybe and maybe not. Expectations don't always materialize. The recipients of our memory boxes have had their expectations dashed--demolished--destroyed. While awaiting a possible floral delivery, we might want to paint our favorite flower on a memory box. If candy is more to your liking, perhaps a chocolate colored teddy bear would express your love and caring. Love is wonderful whether it is incoming or outgoing. It may even be magical! Did you know you might help mend a broken heart with a paintbrush? It's worth a try!

Came across this lion and thought he was cute. Sorry no instructions.

February Painting Project

This is a video from Andy Jones. It was easy and fun. We will use tissue paper to give a nice texture and 3 brushes on an 8x10" canvas board. I will bring Modge Podge and Bavarian (Home Décor) chalky paint. I will bring the equivalent of Folk Art paint Andy uses but if you want your own - Titanium White, Pure Orange, Dioxazine Purple, Brilliant Ultramarine (blue), Sap Green, True Burgandy, Yellow Citron, Aqua Bring regular painting supplies and - Small palette knife for a little mixing. 1" or 2" flat brush for applying the modge podge and tissue. 3/4" or 1" flat for trees. 3/8" or 1/2" flat for trees. The flats with a chisel edge made nice trees but if you are more comfortable with a filbert or small fan bring them.

January painting project was so fun!

Thank you Bonnie for

leading us in this creative

project.
