Welcome to the spring 2018 semester!
The School of STEM is comprised of many faculty, staff, and students eager to engage in
STEM learning and discovery. Below you find a number of STEM related events and activi-
ties taking place on-campus for the spring semester.

“Meta-Major”
Also referred to as “career clus-ters” or “communities of inter-est,” meta-majors are broad pro-gram streams such as allied health or business. They are a key component of Guided Path-ways reforms. Meta-majors are a viable way for a student to enter a general major or area of inter-est and complete coursework in this interest area before deciding on a more specific major or pro-

Here at MCC, each School is a meta-major.

Does Guided Pathways lead colleges to cut programs and limit student options? According to the CCRC, “the goal of Guided Pathways is not to cut programs but to initiate a collective process to strengthen the relevance, quality, and educational coherence of programs offered by the college.”
