Nutt will be squaring-off against Phuket Top Team’s Musa Conteh in a light heavy- weight bout (93.5 kg) on the fight card, penciled-in for early February. “On a fun note, you guys will love this,” Nutt said, as he called up Conteh in front of the dozens of MMA fans and media personnell who came out to watch the weigh- ins at The Clubhouse Sports Bar in Bangkok. “As a promoter, I’m not afraid to be a litmus test in Jon Nutt (right), CEO of the Full Metal Dojo MMA promotion, will fight against Phuket’s Musa Conteh (left) in early February 2015. Photo: JP Mestanza Fight boss to headline own MMA event in 2015 my own organisation. If you can’t beat me, you might want to look at fighting somewhere else. And that’s no knock on Musa. I got respect for that dude as an athlete and as a fighter,” Nutt said on stage at the weigh-ins for the promotion’s third event. The first two shows were held in Phuket. The American is no stranger to fighting: he has had several Muay Thai bouts in Phuket and was Patong Boxing Stadium champion in his weight class. Back in January 2012, Nutt stepped into the cage against Marcelo Tenorio at a Dare Fight Sports event. Nutt, who was commentating at the time event, walked from the announcer’s table, changed into some MMA shorts, put on his gloves, and went at it until he lost in the second round via TKO. Meanwhile, Conteh is a relative newcomer to MMA with only one fight under his belt and one year of formal training in Southern Thailand. The 28-year-old left Georgia State University in the United States over a year ago and flew to the Kingdom after training for a few months at American Top Team in his native Atlanta. Still, he has nearly a dozen of Muay Thai fights in the Phuket circuit and is no stranger to striking. “[Nutt] was looking to match me with up with some- one for a while,” Conteh said shortly after the announce- ment. “I guess nobody wanted to fight me. [Nutt] was like, ‘hey, I’m you’re size, we both fought before.’ So we’re mak- ing it happen.” “[Nutt’s] a beast too, don’t let him fool you,” Conteh added. “I feel like [Musa’s] a good up-and-coming talent and that there are not enough light heavyweights and heavy- weights in Southeast Asia... this is going to be a striker versus striker match,” Nutt said.
