    The Insider

SafeTree has again joined Greenspace, TheNature Conservancy (TNC), and Ralph and TracyCovell in funding the Fourth Annual Cambria Walkin the Woods. The walk, as in the past, will takeplace on the Covells Cambria by the Pines SeaRanch (formerly the Cambria Coast Ranch).

As you may remember, Greenspace was hon-ored by TNC at the Cambria Coast

Ranch dedication in the fall of 2000.Since TNCs historic purchase of aconservation easement on CambriaCoast Ranch, we have workedclosely with the conservation ease-ment holder to develop a methodthat provides limited public accessto the Cambria Coast Ranch whileprotecting the privacy of the land-owner.

    Most Cambrians or the ca-

sual visitors to our area have neverhad the opportunity to walk on thisprecious property. Thanks toSafeTree, The Nature Conser-vancy, the Covells, and Greenspace, we have theopportunity to visit this wonderful property.

The number of tours on the ranch is limitedto four weekends during the year. The spring walkhas been the favorite and we will be offering 8 toursof 20 people. In addition to the knowledge that

Richard Hawley and Brad Seek share with the hik-ers on the tours, Greenspace has arranged addi-tional experts to speak on a number of the tours.

The guest speakers will haveknowledge in forest genetics, botany, and forest pathology.Greenspace is very fortunate tohave developed partnershipswith state and international ex-
