CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT ~ THANK YOU Thank you for your generous contributions to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development! Your gifts will help CCHD end poverty in the United States through better education, improved housing, and economic development. Through CCHD and its beneficiaries, we help keep Catholic social teaching alive and carry out Jesus’ mission to “bring glad tidings to the poor...to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free” (Lk 4:18). Our collection total was $ 425.00.

PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING—RESCHEDULED The Pastoral Council Meeting has been rescheduled to THIS Wednesday, February 5th, at 6:00PM in the Rectory. All members are invited and encouraged to attend.

BLESSING OF THROATS This Monday, February 3rd is the Feast of St. Blaise. Blessing of Throats in honor of his Feast will take place at all Masses this weekend.

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK Tuesday, February 11th is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and World Day of the Sick. Anyone wishing to receive the Sacrament of the Sick will be anointed following weekend Masses on February 8th and 9th. (If you would like to be anointed but can’t attend Mass, please call the office 570-553-2288 to arrange anointing.) Please pray for all the sick in our Parishes, Community and World. There are two inserts in the weeks bulletin concerning World Day of the Sick. Please look them over.

BLESSED CANDLES Blessed Candles are available in the back of Church. A small box is next to them for donations.

NEW VOLUNTEERS NEEDED New volunteers for the Ministries of Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Altar Server, and Rosary Leader are always needed and welcomed. At St. Augustine we are most in need of Rosary Leaders (one person leads the Rosary almost every Sunday) and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (it would be helpful to have one more). At St. Francis we are most in need of Lectors for the 8:00AM Sunday Masses. (There are only three people who Lector for this Mass; one of them is away for the entire winter; one of them goes away for part of the winter. This leaves one person to Lector every weekend.) A huge thank you to Amanda Reeves who volunteered to Lector at the 8:00AM Mass. At St. Francis it would be helpful to have additional Altar Servers for the 4:30PM Mass. (There are currently only (2).)

ALTAR & ROSARY KNIFE RADA SALE St. Brigid Altar & Rosary Society is selling Rada knives as an on-going fund raiser. Orders can be placed with a member of the Altar & Rosary or can be placed on-line by going online to www.helpourfundraiser.com and use customer number 504671. The password is mrsa01pw. Do not use capital letters in the password.

PARISH LOTTERY CALENDARS Parish Lottery Calendars are available in the back of the Churches. Calendars are $ 20.00 each. They run from April 1st thru December 31st, 2014. Each family in our Parish is asked to take at least (5) calendars to sell. There are both packages of (5) calendars and loose (single) calendars available. (Please do not break up the packages.) You are asked to please sign the calendars out on the sign out sheet provided. Please help to make this very important fund raiser a success again this year!

Completed pledges may be placed in the collection basket or mailed to the Rectory. St. Brigid Parish Appeal goal is $ 23,750.00, the same as last year. Currently we have (138) pledges

for a total of $ 20,235.00. We are ONLY under our goal by $ 3,515.00. Thank you to everyone for your generosity.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION His Excellency, the Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton, and the Office for Parish Life wish to invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2014 to a Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sunday, June 22nd. The event includes a 2:30PM Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral followed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be made through St. Brigid Parish Office by February 10th.

SHEETS & BLANKETS NEEDED Old/used sheets and blankets are needed to make sleeping bags for the homeless. If you are cleaning out your closet, please consider donating them for this worthy cause. Donations can be left in the back of the Churches or dropped off at the Rectory, (if no one is there, please leave donations on the porch by the driveway). All donations are most welcome. Also needed are old, used neckties (not clip-on).

NEUMANN CENTER BOTTLE & CAN DRIVE

The CYO basketball teams are sponsoring a bottle & can drive to replace the scoreboard control box. You can drop donations at Neumann Hall Tuesday nights between 6 & 9PM or anytime at the Vestal Center Redemption Center, Route 26 next to the Car Wash and VanDervort’s Mini Mart. CYO VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL SENIOR NIGHT

All Parishioners and friends are invited to attend St. Brigid’s team’s final home game of the season. The game will be held on Sunday, February 9th, at 6:00PM at Neumann Hall.
