Actors Interchanging DICOM Information Shall Use theSTD-GEN-CD Media Storage Application Profile
Non-DICOM Content Shall NOT be Placed in the DICOM Directory
All DICOM File Names are Limited to Only:– 8 Characters (NO Extensions),– Uppercase Letters,– Digits and– Underscore
DICOM Part 10 Compliance – Validated by the MESA Test Tools

IHE_PDI web content corresponds exclusively to the DICOM content, although it need not represent the entire DICOM content
Web content use of XHTML and JPEG formats is restricted to ensure interoperability
Non-web content will not be placed in IHE_PDI directories, but may be placed in other locations on the CDROM
All file names are restricted to the ISO 9660 8.3 file name

Do not assume that an application on the media will automatically be launched– IHE recommends that media readers not automatically
run software on the media

File naming conventions apply to all files on the CD including: DICOM File Names Non-DICOM File Names DICOM Viewer Application Name The name of DLLs present on the CD
Failure to write ISO 9660 Level 1 CDs: Media cannot be written using the Joliet file system Media cannot include Rock Ridge extensions
DICOMDIR must be valid – watch for: Wrong VR for attributes Bad lengths in elements Bad offset calculations in DICOMDIR
No Image Compression is permitted
